What a sad song. My cousin was killed almost 2 weeks ago tomorrow. When I met him he must have been around 18 and was into Depeche Mode and The Cure. Tomorrow is his burial and this song would suit the burial as we are allowed to play music for him.

My father was a huge Depeche Mode fan. He played their songs all the time as a child. Wherever we are. And when I was 5, he took me with him to their concert. He died in 2015 when I was 7. According to my mom "Delta Machine" was his favorite album. He was very fond of the blues. Thank you so much, dad, for turning on the work of this group for me since childhood. I hope you got to heaven.

I have never understood this. Depeche Mode are truly one of the GREATEST bands in the world. The fact that they are not recognized as such in the U.K. has always disturbed me. I've been a fan since 1984, seen them tons of times live and met them a few years ago. I have always been in awe of them. How is it that in their homeland they are criminally ignored and underappreciated? It's a F'N crime.

They still good, but certainly not better. Delta Machine was a good album, full of wisdom, beautiful lyrics, wonderful voices... But Depeche Mode will never be better than in the early 90's.
Why ? Just cause Enjoy The Silence, Policy of Truth, In Your Room, Walking in My Shoes, Personal Jesus,... was just perfect !

More creative, just no. The 3 first albums was litterallly the same when Violator, SOFAD and Ultra was totally different (Synth Pop, Rock, even Gospel,...). I'm a huge fan (just look my picture :p) but in the 80's they was more like a "boys band" than music's genius. In my opinion, the 3 first albums was just "ok". The second half of 80's is the begin of a new group with deeper lyrics, darker musics, new styles,... But the consecration still 89-93 Violator and SOFAD.

This song gives me goosebumps everywhere. I really don’t understand why Delta Machine has been so underestimated and literally almost ignored. If ppl are expecting a repetition of the ‘excellent, old’ DM of the 90s, well I’m afraid, challenging yourself and your art is also an excellent move forward, towards reinventing yourself as own individual, as well as a band. It’s about recognising that Delta Machine has been practically ignored, and it’s a real shame cos it’s a brilliant album, with deep, beautiful lyrics, something that people are not really aware of - we just think that they’re good to make people dance. They’re a bit more than that : ) and what they did in the 90s still lives on.

I'm 50 next year proud to say they've been in my life from day one. Lived in London for a number of years and had a few beers in the salt house pub in st johns wood and had a few beers with fletch, what a great guy totally normal and not blinded by bullshit. Must be the key to their longevity and originality, long may they bless my ears.

This song still reminds me of her. She decided to move back east shortly after we went to see Depeche mode during this tour. As we grew distant this song played louder and louder in my head. I've forgotten her but not that feeling of loss.

О, а я на Queen) В 8 лет слушала в наушниках и плакала под The Miracle и Innuendo. Pink Floyd тоже произвели сильное впечатление фильмом The Wall, и подсела на них лет в 15. А Depeche Mode никогда слушала альбомами, лишь отдельные хиты цепляли, но всегда возвращалась к ним, и сейчас снова переслушиваю, и заново открываю)

А вот Пинк Флойд и Депеш Мод надо слушать альбомами. Каждый альбом нес в себе определенную тему и смысл. Каждая песня или композиция вносила свой вклад в общую картину альбома.
Я прослушала Дэйва в его сольных исполнениях - это вообще где-то на грани между небом и землёй. Столько пронзительности...
А когда узнала о его преодолениях жизненных, связанных с наркотиками, так и вовсе влюбилась в этого человека, как сильного и любящего свое искусство, людей и жизнь.
