- If you've been following me on TikTok you already know I have an obsession with thrifting vintage Coach bags. Because so many people requested a tutorial, I made this video to better explain my process for cleaning bags.
This is my first youtube video...so if you learned something, give a thumbs up and follow my channel to encourage me to make more videos.
Shop the supply list below from my Amazon storefront for the exact products I use. There are a ton of product options for this kind of bag cleaning, but if you click through these links it will help support my channel (affiliate).

These Coach bags last forever
I have the same bag and another 90’s coach bag, handed down to me by my mom, and have been wondering out to restore! This is so helpful. Thank you!
Love that you are keeping these in the family!
This was awesome!!! I’ve always been intimidated by the thought of restoring a vintage bag but this video gives me confidence!! Thank you for sharing!!😊❤️
Glad this gave you confidence, excited for you to try it out! 🥰

I been watching this every couple months since you posted it, just tryna hype myself up to do it lol TYSM for linking the brushes in the description since you didn't mention it in the video!
I have the EXACT same bag, gifted to me by my mom & it is hands-down my most prized possession so I am TERRIFIED of messing up, but this video has helped so much! thank you! 🩵
Oh my goodness such a sweet comment. I’m so glad you have the confidence to work on such a cherished piece now 🤍
I needed this! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us 😊🙏
Absolutely, so glad it was helpful for you 😌
@@JaneThrifts Hello I was wondering what the numbers are for this particular bag?
@@melinatedvessel6840 the storypatch reads O614-247
Nice! Thank you!
Absolutely 😌
I also love rinsing my leather thrifted bags in running water and then conditioning! My mom has a nearly identical vintage Coach bag like the one you have.
It’s so satisfying to bring it back to life! Makes me think your mom has an OG vintage Coach. Crazy! I love the quality of these bags.
Where can I get the saddle soap..not sure with the saddle? Thanks a lot
@@carolinejuachon4686 I use Fiebing’s. You can find it at your local hardware store or online. I have an Amazon link - www.amazon.com/dp/B00GRSVTK4?linkCode=ssc&tag=onamzjanefisc-20&creativeASIN=B00GRSVTK4&asc_item-id=amzn1.ideas.1MT9QN1X70Z50&ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_d_asin
I'm going to do this, I bought a beautiful vintage coach bag but it is DIRTY! and dunking it in water seems like the only option that will really clean it 😩
Ohhhh it’s going to be so satisfying!
I have this same bag! I hope I can get it as good as you did. Also my bottom is sagging out. How would you recommend I correct that. Thank you and keep up the good work
Thank you! Isn’t it such a lovely bag? If you’re going to clean it, you can stuff it with towels to reshape it while it drys to add structure back to the bottom.
I use newspaper to stuff the bags while drying
Great tip
Does that not ruin the raw suede in it?
Are you wetting the brush before dipping it in the saddle soap?
I used minimal water for this for a quick dry time. I wet the brush itself, it helps, it’s best to use more water to really get it sudsing
How much you bought it in thrift shop?
I noticed that she answered all comments except this one. I wonder why?
Are you selling this bag by any chance?
I no longer have it!
I never soak them
In water 💦 maybe it works
I've had a lot of success dunking bags but only do it if necessary
I don't think soaking it in the water is a good idea.
It definitely depends on the bag
These old coach bags are super high quality, you can literally dunk it and leave it in soapy water, rinse and dry it in room temperature and then condition it. I love it. They dont make bags like that anymore, that's why these old coach bags in particular are great!
Vintage Coach is the best! It blows my mind every time to do the math on how old some of these bags are and how well they’ve worn and continue to wear.
I would never immerse a leather bag in water. It would destroy all the natural oils in the leather. Who puts plastic bags in a wet leather bag? I have restored Coach leather bags for years...some things you did...I wouldn't recommend. The bag looks dull.
What methods have worked for you?
@@JaneThrifts Energy like “I wish you nothing but the best” iconic
@@JaneThriftsif you need to stuff your bag and dry at the same time, use paper towels because plastic bag doesn’t have ability to absorb moisture so it will take a lot longer to dry
@hp4415 thanks for the tip!
Where's your video?
@ *amzlv* I love you so much and watching your videos makes my day brighter
So kind! Glad you enjoy!
@ *lvguci* You are so well-informed about luxury accessories and bags. You've obviously done your due diligence and the comparison to the US is very informative...because of course, I live in New York. thank you very much.
Appreciate that! Thank you!
