Exctied to share this unique park with you all! Love the displays and the informtion along the trails. They did a great job incorporating the fossils with the geologic story! Worth a visit if you are in Las Vegas.

During the last ice age, the Puget lobe of the Cordilleran ice sheet was around a 1000 feet thick here in Olympia, Washington. It is amazing to think that where my house is, there was 1000 feet of ice above my house. About 20 miles south of us was the furthest extent of the Puget lobe. There are many geological features around here that are evidence of this glaciation. I bet Ice Age Fossils State Park was a cool place to visit. Its going on our list of places to go. Thanks!

I hope you make it there. They also have a bit on archeology and some early people sites in the area. I ran out of time and didn’t get those filmed. Hopefully you can when you go. 😀

That is a thick ice sheet and wow. I didn’t realize that. Thank you for sharing. I would love to visit there swim day and see the glacial topography and moraines.

@@earthandtime5817 We were hoping to go to the southwest this spring but our giant white fur baby isn't ready for a several day road trip. We are delaying until fall. If all goes as planned, we should be somewhere near Ice Age Fossils State Park in October.

This has been on my bucket list since it opened earlier this year. If I'm not able to get there before it heats up I'll definitely be there in the fall.

I just found this channel. Love it. I've heard Anza Borrego State Park has the largest collection of Western camel fossils, but i haven't been there. If you're at all interested in dinosaurs, go to the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman Montana. It's fabulous!

What are all the black circles on the ground? Are they where they took soil samples?

Good question. I think they are planters. But I am not positive.
