It does look like Thanksgiving! I just made your bars and can't wait to cut into them in the morning. I did use lard in the shortbread, that being the only difference I made. Along w a little sea salt in the shortbread. I had to use 2 smaller bar pans because I didn't have the right large size. So I was able to sample a small piece after setting but before placing in the refrigerator overnight. And it was so amazing. Not too sweet. And the lard was delicious in the shortbread. Thanks for my new forever recipe.
This is one of my husband 's favorites.. He said his mother used to make them and I have never made them.. Thank you so much for leaving your wonderful recipe! 😋 New Sub from Texas! 🤗
I love Pecan Pie and the bars are just as delicious...they're great if you don't want as much of the gooey center as with an actual pie. This is a Land O Lakes Butter recipe and I find it is one of the better ones I've tried. Thanks for watching new Friend!
I hope you do and please let me know how the recipe turned out for you! I think the key is to mix the shortbread just until you have crumbs, and also to thoroughly mix the eggs in your filling so that some of the egg does not cook once it is poured onto the partially baked crust. Also, it is very important to check for doneness early... maybe at 28 minutes... since all ovens are different. Best wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you... you are so kind!! I wish you success with your first pecan pie!!! The pie filling is this recipe has been modified to produce a sturdy bar, so it won't work for an actual pie. Take care!
Hi Gail, New subscriber here, you had me at Pecan. Love anything with pecans, just made Pecan Tassi cookies a childhood favorite. Can't wait to try to make all of your goodies. Big thumbs up👍
They look delicious! I will make these! Thanks for the tips on how to tell when they are done. I over cooked my pecan pies as they didn’t explain how to tell when it’s done. Only said it won’t jiggle in middle!
You're welcome...I know how disappointing it is to put in all that effort and then have something not turn out just right! I hope you do get to make them...they are delicious. Since all ovens are different and most have hotspots, I turn mine halfway through the baking and I also check for doneness early...say at 28 minutes. Much success to you!
Ooh Ms Gail these look so delicious!! I have got to try these, my husband loves anything pecan pie!! These are going to go great on my dessert treats I pass out for Christmas 😋
This has a shortbread crust and the recipe is for a 9x13 inch pan. I’ve never halved the recipe, but the closest size pan would be an 8x8 for this volume.
I must’ve missed it, how hot should the oven be? Is the recipe written out anywhere, when I press more, it just goes to a bunch of other videos about pecan pies?
Thank you so much, I certainly will be making these along with many of your other recipes…for some reason, I can not seem to get to the little box? It keeps taking me to other video? I will watch the video again and write it down, thank you so much🙏🏼
@@ahart777 hmmm. I’m not sure what’s happening. You should be able to click on “more” after the Title of the video and it will show the Description box with the written recipe. Then you can do a screenshot on your mobile device or a print screen on your desktop. 🙂
I would reduce the corn syrup to 1 cup, rather than reducing the brown sugar. I have not tried that, but I think that would reduce the sweetness significantly, without affecting the structure of the bars. Please let me know how that works if you do try it.

I use Lyle’s Golden Syrup and light brown sugar for my pecan pie bars.😋
Yes, the golden syrup will work just fine in this recipe. Thanks!!!
Look delicious 😋 can it be frozen?
They are delicious and they can be made a couple days ahead of time. Unfortunately, they can't be frozen. Thanks for watching!
I’ve been looking for this wonderful recipe. Please, do you have a website where this recipe is written out?
Hey Jennifer… the recipe is written out in the description box. Thanks for watching!
What did you do with the other pastry disc? Can I halve the pastry re pie if I only want to use one? Thanks.
This has a shortbread crust and the recipe is for a 9x13 inch pan. I’ve never halved the recipe, but the closest size pan would be an 8x8 for this volume.

The oven temperature is 350 F…and the recipe is listed in the information box below the video. Hope you get to make these😊

Do you use all purpose flour or self rising flour
All purpose
what's the oven temperature?
350 degrees... I see that we did not have that in the Recipe Instructions and now have it ... Thank you!!!!
👍👍👍👍👍👏👏🌹😋😋😋🧇🧇🥯🧇🧇🥚🥚🥚🥚🧆🧆
Thank you so much new Friend!
I’m always afraid of pecan pie recipes as most of the time they are way too sweet. Would it help to cut the brown sugar in half? Thanks!

@@gailskitchen how kind of you to answer…I will try out your advice.
@@mrob75 I think you will like these bc the bars have a much smaller amount of the pecan pie filling per bite versus a traditional pie. Enjoy!
Pee cans are in the bottom of a boat…✌️
I think I threw a bag of hard brown sugar out about four weeks ago. Doh! 🤦♂
Pee-cans…..sounds almost nasty. No, I ain’t from up north. Pa-caans just seems more…I dunno…edible!
Haha…never thought of it that way but I pronounce it as Pa-Caans also
