    I relate a lot to Binyamin on the "OP has ruined my life, I use to think about lots of stuff and now I'm obsessed" :P
    I've had to leave the main group and stuff, because I feel too responsible to understand everything people are discussing, and I was also getting decider freakouts because I say dumb shit that pisses people off.
    Glad its not just me.

    It's nice seeing Binyamin putting his ideas out there like that. He doesn't share his perspective much in his videos so this was interesting. Nice conversation 👍🏾

    Blaster here to contribute 👋🏼😂
    I think telling ppl things is a compulsive responsibility for blasters, because if we are telling people what we are doing, we aren’t having to spend that time taking in new info (the bane of our existence...for consume lasts at least)

      another blaster... telling people you did something is to let them know - this proyect/task is done...what´s the next job/task/mission? - or - the overall project is here, is your turn to do your part -... and by keeping active you don´t consume as much as you should, I guess.
      Low Fe blaster doesn´t get why would people think blaster would be bragging since the "blaster report" is down to the facts/specifics... but people are strange.

      @@joakas1986 I think blaster reports can sound like bragging because it can come from the Di, like if you are a SBP like Dave Powers... which gives it an "I'm better than you because I know this info and you don't" vibe

    It's intersting story of Benyamin about that in school being rejected by the popular kids then hanging with the outsiders. Then eventually the outsider become the popular kids and ISTP be like; "how did this happen? This is not what I wanted".
    Social hierarchies are inevitable but also speaks a lot to IxxP motivation in building up self / outsiders to then inspire better social behavior etc.
    Great interview // fellow istp

    Funny you said that you corrected people...I have lived before with ISTP friend (also into personalities..) for a long time and I loved being corrected. Especially in the areas I didn't know much about- not my most usual reading interests.
    I don't know, I really appreciate when people correct me, enlighten me... It's like someone is making sure I don't sound bad and is taking the active part in my personal development, broadening my perspective in some areas, even if we disagree on some topic. ....but you know, when you spend a lot of time with a few people, you start behaving similarly and the their qualities sort of "rub off on you". So after some time, naturally I started correcting my ISTP friend too, especially in the areas I was fluent in and he wasn't, oh and I can't say he was happy about it :P hahaha. oopsy! Learnt from the best :)
    Nice episode btw.! Loved listening to you. The best sentence of the video was: "are these categorisations meaningful...".
    and yeah I don't understand bragging and announcing about doing something either, every step of the way, as if when you don't announce it it doesn't count and you don't get any "brownie points". HAHA, That is tmi to me, sort of annoying when done in person and definitely on FB wall... just unnecessary... :D and Christ, micromanaging is THE WORST.

    Great interview ! I am an IxxP with lead Fi, and it's very interesting to me how much on the one hand it's very complicated for me to communicate with lead Ti's and understand each other sometimes, and how I relate to them on the other hand with tribe issues, for example the things you said about "learning to go partying" or "do the cleaning" in order to not being hated by people.
    Love watching interviews of types like this, tks for making this video :))

    I always thought it would be beneficial to have a TiFe user try to explain the op parts because both Dave and Shan are on the same axis and therefore seeing things only from their angles. It's also what makes me doubt the accuracy of their system because they're not checking their work with a TiFe user. Yes, it's a double blind test, but is it really when both of them are TeFi? It's taken me a long time to grasp some of the parts just from their overly simplified content and I've found it's really helpful to hear an explanation of any given part from a user on the same axis as they speak the same language. Great content btw👍

    Hey Dave, came from LoveWho's channel. Using my inferior Fe functioning to say I really resonated with your video and really enjoyed it hahaha as a fellow ISTP. Man I was skeptical of MBTI because I'm not a 'typical mechanical ISTP' and I've failed all of my driving tests haha but your video hit the nail on the head and made me feel connected to the world haha.
    I've felt so ostracised and misunderstood in the past (also because I can be skeptical of others and doubt whether they actually like me, plus I find it hard to express emotions to others) but it's hilarious to me that so many ISTPs (not just me) can relate to your video haha. And there I was thinking there was something wrong with me because I don't function the same way as others but no, I'm perfectly normal haha
    Did you used to wrestle btw? Your right ear looked like a cauliflower ear haha but your face is still good no worries :P

      might have to pick your brain on wrestling xD i'm a beginner xD ahhh man i miss it a lot, gyms are closed right now
      what are the fundamentals of wrestling?
      i love to break everything down haha. from what i know, it's angles, stance, level changing, head positioning, timing, weight transferring?
      i also find it hard to set up moves - does that just come with experience? like throwing the opponent off with a random ankle pick

    • @daveofallpeople
      @daveofallpeople  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JessBess If you want to Ni it down even further haha you could say its just balance and leverage. Getting your opponent off balance but also applying techniques that gives you a relative force greater than what they can resist.
      Setups are one of the most difficult things if not the most difficult. Takes a really long time to get good at them. You really have to practice them a ton to make sure the timing is near perfect.
      Generally also against good wrestlers its really hard to get the takedown with just one setup. You try to chain them together in a way that its too difficult to respond to all of them.
      Example: I do a headsnap to setup a single leg. Instead of just doing a headsnap, I headsnap, feint the single leg (he should pull the leg back) and then attack the other leg with a high crotch. This way if they dont react to the headsnap, I can at least get them off balance enough to attack the other leg which should have most of their weight on it due to the feint.
      Hope that was helpful :)

    • @JessBess
      @JessBess 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@daveofallpeople i mean it makes sense logically but i'd have to experiment in person to really get it haha
      but that's super interesting: balance and leverage. i'll keep it in mind :D i can see how it fits in with jiu jitsu too, not sure about muay thai or boxing.
      yeah i get the concept of chaining them together, i've learned some transitions in jiu jitsu based on what others do and then learning to counter it. it's a lot easier to remember techniques that way. would you say it's probably dangerous to do that, if your opponent can study you and learn your habits?
      i'm not familiar with the techniques you mentioned. what is the purpose of a head snap though? is it so you get them off balance? so their weight is forward and then as they stand back up and are shifting their weight, then you take advantage?
      and when you attack the other leg instead are you dropping one knee to the ground and then pivoting?
      do you have discord btw? :)

    • @daveofallpeople
      @daveofallpeople  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JessBess Yeah the headsnap causes your opponent to react in a different number of ways. If they pull their head up in reaction, the legs open up for a shot or if it sends them off balance you can transition to a front headlock or another shot from the side.
      You could drop to a knee but you dont have to. Maintaining your stance and just shooting from there should work.
      Yep I'm on discord! DaveOfAllPeople#1806

    I agree with Binyamin talking about the different systems. I have gone through the same logic myself. All that matters is that the system is objective and consistent it categorizing people and "functions". I can be an ISTP in one system, an ENTP in another, an INTJ in another, and they can all be essentially the same thing, or they can also just be horrible at categorizing people/functions. The names are just labels. What matters is the consistency and trends of the output. Patterns will emerge if the system is logically sound and consistent. Other then that, it doesn't really matter which system you use. it's just a tool. I have studied a lot of different systems out there, and the thing I like about OP is that it is made simple and the categories are well defined compared to other systems.

    • @adambankoff8525
      @adambankoff8525 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      lol "channel changing" is already a thing in Jungian based theories. It's the concept behind the idea of the shadow and cognitive transitioning. An INTJ and ENTP are basically the same thing, and it's why the shadows functions tie to each other. Originally there were only 4 functions: Thinking, Feeling, Intuition, Sensing

    In answer to your question about blasters and announcing things....I think it may depend on the type of blaster. I'm close to an Si/Te and they want to know everything you intend to do so they can help you stay efficient. She'll often say I hide things because while I do feel responsible for making the plan, I don't feel responsible for communicating my plan lol. I'm Ni/Te BPSC and I only really need to know things that I need to work into my Ni-plan. It bugs me when I don't have information about the future when I have to factor someone else into my time. That being said, it wouldn't be about things someone has "done" (like cleaning or something) unless it frees up time I had planned to do that thing. For example, if someone went to the grocery store for me and I had set aside time to do that later in the day, I'd want to know so I could adjust my schedule efficiently. I hope that helps!

    Istj make up the majority generally, not on YT, around this topic ofc...I think Istj and isfj struggle less in terms of systems and institutions, religions etc.. they've less reason, even just emotionally.. to be interested in this stuff.. but there's "practical typing" i think it's called by ISTP Mara... something and her partners both ISTJ AND interested in this stuff!!

    To let people know that you cleaned the toilet but not being seen as looking for compliments you can use a deflection.
    You focus your point on some other element and in reality you just want to them know that you cleaned it.
    "That toilet really needed some cleaning"
    "Took me 20 minutes like going to the gym."
    "We should buy a better toilet brush."

    I relate to a lot here and I'm infj.. but my mum and possibly nan are/ were enfp.. and my dad was intp. My mums always been hardest on me, my blind spot is Te.. the cleaning up thing, but not having it recognised it I think is because you haven't brought it to their attention via Te-Fi.. "look what I've done"..
    They don't have this inherent trust..or we're not conjuring that up in them I guess..
    I think Te-Fi is very much about meritocracy and capitalism, in that order.. but INTJs aren't like that exactly but they're easier able to capitalise on things with their Te. Te is street smarts, Fe is harmony and when it's unhealthy it's pretentiousness and codependency.

    • @MTWTVP
      @MTWTVP 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think ENFPs do the cleaning annoucements.... I'd say ENFJs and a few other types are pro at that, also in micromanaging or being anal about a lot of details, announcements... and acting like a martyr... To me enfjs are like preschool teachers, and make you feel like a kid.
      Enfps are rather comfortable with self deprecating jokes and don't give many doodiedoos about what has or hasn't been done. To their logic anything can wait- the rome was not built in a day....
      I think Enfps have a very thinck skin however, when comes to a lot of things and they seem unbothered and chilll when something's pointed out to them, and when they do it they sort of may asume no one should be bothered by stuff being pointed out to them either. SO on that flip side -- on their auto pilot they sort of point out and force the deep emotional self awarness to people and especially the awarness of the emotional impact we have around people. enfjs do it too in a martyr way. and infps and infjs do it also, just slightly more carefully and maybe less abstract than enfp. dunno, just my observation/ experience... I may be wrong of course. I think by a default all the diplomats will force the logical types to develop thier emotional side to a much higher level.... and that other people emo awareness...and switch... but it might be a painful process. Nothing worth having is easy they say...
      What do you think about that ?

    have something kinda funny- maybe relevant- to say about alpha males. Maybe we are attracted to our opposites. Binyamin has completely opposite dominant functions than ,mine (MF NeFi CSBP). My best guess about my partner is that he is Ti/Se CSPB which makes our functions different but out animals similar. We bring different skills to the table but our way of living, animals, energy rhythms are similar. Anyway, I saw Binyamin in an interview with the “Talking with famous people Guy.” The crusty, old, EXXP, dropped his mouse and the batteries popped out. He couldn’t see the arrows, so he didn’t know how to put them batteries back in. Binyamin, in his infinite wisdom, said, “ Are there spring?... The flat end of the battery always goes against the springs” In that instant, I suddenly thought.. ‘OMG..Binyamin is so hot!’ I’m almost 44 and I never noticed that the flat end goes against the spring. I’ve probably had a hundred observer freak outs about this and the answer is so simple! The exchange reminded me so much of my partner and I. We have completely opposite skills and it’s so hot how he knows all this ST, technical stuff. He fills voids for me. I fill voids for him.

    I'm sorry to spam your comments section, I don't want this been taken the wrong way but it will be (there's good reason many infj may seem like nutters) is because Fi (i know infj is Fe but Fe is objective in the sense we're viewing and picking up all these Fi vibes) Fi is the most subjective of all the judging functions.. it's internal and it's emotional.. carl jung said judging functions are on the rational side but ofc we know more times than not, people's decisions aren't rational at all.. and the thing is that EVERYBODY thinks they're rational when ppl are inherently IRRational so therein lies the problem..
    But healthy INFP and ISFP are fantastic to me because they're more likely to be honest with me, less cognitive dissonance for the INFJ

    When I read, “How to Win Friends ands Influence People,” I felt kind-of secretive and guilty about it. I wanted to be good with the tribe but the techniques espoused in the book seemed pretty manipulative to me. I want to be proficient in Fe, but I always feel manipulative when I try to use it. (MF NeFi CSBP)

      All social interactions are manipulation. But that doesn't mean they are malicious or bad. This is one of the reasons I've always avoided Fe and social structures, because I didn't want to buy into the game. Eventually you realize that things like white lies are ok, and sometimes the right thing to do. But you'll always feel weird about it if you're Fe last.

  • @hanspeter2534

    Do you think that the social unawareness you both talked about is something that is kind of fundamental for an ISTP, so that in turn you can see it as an indicator for maybe not being an ISTP if you didn't / don't experience it?

    • @daveofallpeople
      @daveofallpeople  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I guess it depends. If it's not something you struggled with when you were young and you're sure you have an objective view of your own social awareness (ie. would people you know describe you that way?) then yeah you're probably not an ISTP.

    It sounds like the problem you guys have with explaining is that you're giving the full set of sensory details.
    There's an assumption people have that the truth is super simple and if you need to explain so much there's something off.
    Obviously that's not true in reality but people can jump to that conclusion.
