    Engine shielding troops from fronts, dismounts leave through ramp in the back. Already safer then BTR-80 and it's much older then that one.

      Gotta keep in mind that the original BTR-60 base design is basically a metal bathtub with seats inside. Like a Half-Track, but 20 years later.

      @@Pilotmario I'd say that would be more BTR-40 and BTR-152, "halftrack on wheels" and "SdKfz 251 on wheels" respectively. Though that begs for question how no one pointed out rear-mounted engine and dismounting through hatches may not be the best ideas?

    My father drove the skot r3 variant, its hard to speak to him but when i quizzed him on it his face immediately lit up and he would explain to me how the transmission worked and how many AK rounds the wheels could take and the compressor could compensate, after learning this i got him a driving experience as a gift for his birthday, we drove the fv432 together and it was a really nice father and son bonding moment, thanks for reminding me with this video

    Have spent significant time in it and i can say it´s a great vehicle very mobile has lot of room expecally for eastern bloc vehicle. Very reliable and if stuff breaks it can be repaired with wire a screw driver and an welding machine, and it´s much more comfortable than other vehicles like BTRs.
    Only the armor is bad even for the time era, if I had to use it in todays era it needs extra armor welded on and an cage to survive, other than that it will be still today a great APC with remote controlled gun station added.
    But the low ground pressure is also a benefit of this thing it´s very difficult to get stuck.
    Only driver seat is somewhat made for minecraft person you will feel so bad sitting there for days on end.

    it is Czechoslovakian- Polish design . Czecoslovakia gave engine, suspension and drive train. Poland designed and produced armored body, turrets and both machine guns. Whole vehicle was assembled in Poland. there was 2 versions of turrets. second one was full Polish design and had capibilities of anti aircraft fire. it was called SKOT 2AP. Very weak research to make this material.

    OT-64 SKOT is one of my favorite APCs/IFVs. For its time, it was a very fast vehicle, and its design, along with its capabilities, was revolutionary. For example, the central tire inflation system was very rare at that time. I think this vehicle has only two drawbacks: its not-so-reliable transmission (the planetary gearbox was supposed to be temporary but was never replaced) and its thin armor, which is due to its amphibious capabilities.
    Also, could you please make a video about the T-72M4 CZ? I think it is a very interesting modernization of the T-72M1 from 2003, and almost nobody knows about it. I also think they could be sent to Ukraine in the next year or two, as the Czech army has stopped training new personnel on them.
    Also sending greetings from the Czech Republic! The way you pronounced "Střední Kolový Obrněný Transportér" made me laugh.

      @@yamatokurusaki5790 Where do you get your information? As far as I know we (as in czech company Excalibur) are modernizing about 100-200 older T-72M and M1 (that were not from Ukraine) to T-72EA standard which is nowhere near M4CZ standard, it is also financed by Netherlands/USA.
      Czech army should have aproximately 30 M4CZ and 15-30 M1 at the moment (consider we donated about 60M and M1s), they are probably in reserves or with active reserves. And I highly doubt they will free these tanks for Ukraine untill we have enough Leo 2s for profesionals and active reserves, which will take at least 3 years.

    OT-64 was Indian Army's first 8X8 Wheeled APC that saw service alongside some BTR-60 during 3rd Indo-Pak war as well as during counter-insurgency operations during 80s & 90s , before being replaced in the same role by MRAPs and Tata Kestrel 8X8 APC
    Also Hilarious fact , India's 8X8 Tata Kestrel was also chosen by Moroccan Royal Army over Chinese 8X8 Platform with local licensed production
    ONCE AGAIN THANK YOU VERY MUCH AND ARIGATO GOZAIMASU

    • @patriotenfield3276
      @patriotenfield3276 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Forgot to mention why it is Hilarious fact :- Actually despite CRPF chose Tata kestrel as their primary 8X8 APC , Army has been lobbying to get Stryker instead of Kestrel ( keep in mind that Kestrel is amphibious + V-shaped spall lined hull , making it mine resistant + lightweight + based on NATO battlebus doctrines ) , factors which make Kestrel superior over Stryker ( minus the armor , which the Stryker is slightly in edge over Kestrel ) . Army has always preferred foreign maal/goods over cooperation & investing in Indigenous products with serious cases of Corruption , while Navy have traditionally embraced & inducted many indigenous products , followed by Air force which have recently started trusting in , inducting & using Indigenous products as well with less cases of corruption in both navy & airforce cases

    • @8000jk
      @8000jk 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The Kestrel also has a more powerful engine that is crucial for high altitude regions, providing a better power to weight ratio. Considering the recent geopolitical developments I thought the acquisition of the Stryker platform was put on hold, if not cancelled.

    • @patriotenfield3276
      @patriotenfield3276 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@8000jk Let's admit this , Stryker is not meant for India at all , neither suiting to India's vast geography , nor it is supported by India's geopolitical stand of neutrality in an ever growing polarised world , regarding logistics chain

    i was honestly surprised that big ol' turret wasn't for an autocannon, lol.
    as for wheeled APCs, the later BTRs tend to look cooler. especially the BTR-82a (technically an IFV, I know). i like the shape of the turret; very feature-dense. similarly, the VAB T20/13 and VIB the French once used scratch the same itch for me. just a cool-looking turret.

    Now the wheeled APC market is so varied.
    We got the APC's with front wind shield (Griffon, lots of Streit Group offerings) and without wind shield (Eitan, Guarani).
    We got amphibious (Iveco SuperAV is a favorite) and non-amphibious (VBCI1).
    We got the 6x6 (Tatra Heron, Patria XA-300, Fuchs, VAB etc.) and 8x8 (FNSS Pars Alpha, Stryker, Boxer, Terrex, Pandur etc.), especially in the wind shield category also many 4x4 variants (TAG Terrier is one of my favorites, but also Mowag Eagle, RMVV Survivor 2, Bushmaster, Dingo 2, etc.).
    It seems easier, economically affordable for countries to develop a wheeled armored vehicle compared to a track type vehicle. That's why so many countries around the world are producing those.
    Sometimes the difference between MRAP and APC is a grey area.

    Of course, as an armored-box 8x8, I saw it and thought, "Who put a KPV on an L.A.V.?"
    One does wonder why no one seems to have thought of just making these hulls water-tight, and putting one or more mounts for outboard marine motors on the back, run by someone in the infantry compartment. Slap a couple of Mercury 150's on this bad boy and rig a removable "clipper prow" frame to the front for better hydrodynamics, and I bet this thing wouldn't suck crossing a lake!

    Hi Matt - just to increase your engagement you might want to add to your analysis of vehicles their representation in video games. Certainly a lot of us will only experience this vehicle through the lens of a video game. This particular vehicle seems to be skipped over by most game makers, and it's not because it's obscure (thousands were made) but simply because it don't offer any distinct capabilities in video games - just a machine gun and some versions with a cannon and single ATGM. Feel free to be controversial and definitive in your perspective, really helps with the engagements if someone reposts it to a forum.

I like the concept of a large, light, bulletproof, wheeled amphibious transport, especially if relatively cheap, for civilian Mad Max reasons. Can be turned into an armored trailer. Bathroom, kitchen, bunk, tools and a drone, home sweet home. Militarily i think, utility of armored vehicles, in peer conflicts will be primarily as bunkers on wheels for drone operators. Elusiveness, awareness, flexibility and economics would be prioritized over direct combat performance.

Decent chassis from what the oldtimers said but if you slap bunch of armor and stuff on basicaly Tatra engine and chassis, it will do but it wont be drag racer if you catch my drift. Maybe good for its time (and thats questionabele) but otherwise mainly nostalgia for those ČSLA (Czechoslovak Army)/Warsaw Pact dudes and enthusiasts.

    About 20 or so years back one could buy those in Poland from army surplus - in decent condition - for about $2000. I was VERY tempted to buy one. Now... forget it - the prices have gone up orders of magnitude.

    I’ve always had an interest in the SKOT just because you can get one for around $25k.
    Of course tariffs and shipping are another story.

    I don't really have a favorite wheeled APC, I suppose I'd go with the Stryker for Team America reasons (yeah yeah, it's a modified Canadian LAV III, but it appears Canada will be joining the Team soon so that's moot😜). I have always liked the look of the OT-64 though. I hesitate to admit this, but I consider it a cute APC looking like an abstract bassett hound from the front with long floppy ears and sunk eyes. It also gives me Star Wars vibes. Slap some little legs on it instead of wheels and I could see stormtroopers rolling, well walking, around on it. Oh, then it would look even more like a basset hound, or some other kind of cute little animal.

    Can’t say I’ve got hands on experience of it but at least in Wargame: RD the French VAB is a good little APC. The Stryker though takes the gold star for its ambulance variant being set up to actually provide care, to the wounded not just a meat wagon.

    There is also another communist Wheeled APC from China known as WZ-551 / ZSL-92 6X6 Wheeled APC , which was made from the previous WZ 523 APC , That resembles very much closely to , & in fact inspired from French 6X6 Renault VAB
    Indonesia also made PT PINDAD ANOA 6X6 APC based on VAB
    Also Yugoslavia has a domestic 4X4 APC called the BOV
    There are also some other 6X6 APCs like Brazilian EE-11 Urutu , which is based on & shares most of it's component with the EE-9 Infantry support vehicle as well as 8X8 Platforms like the Chinese Type-08 APC & Russian VPK-7829 Bumerang APC
    Also India has made the 8X8 Tata Kestrel APC , which has been successfully inducted by our CRPF units , but Army is in favor of importing Stryker , even after Canada ban sales of Stryker components to India following recent India-Canada diplomatic scuffles

    In Polish it approximetly sound something like: She-red-Knee Kowovy Ko(like in Congo)wo(like in wow)vy(like in russian unit name Vympiel) Trans-Port-Er(like in error) o-pantze(like Panzer, but with tze sound)-zho-ny. She with such short e at the end so you have only SH but softer like in she or xi.
