I bought 2 pairs of the last ones for my folding bike a few years and they both snapped after a year of use. The last pair snapped in the middle of a 100km ride. Disaster. Design flaw or manufacturing flaw, I don't know. But I'll never use them again
no i dont think thats a good enough excuse, just because the right sequence of movements can avoid the bad thing happening doesnt stop it being a massive design flaw. this is like when the iphone 4 came out and would drop signal if your finger touched the outside of the phone in the exact particular place that your finger just naturally comes to grip it at when holding the device normally, and apple had to start selling rubber fenders to fix it, but steve jobs said "you're holding it wrong". no dingus, YOU designed it wrong! and this is exactly the same thing with the brompton pedal.
The Brompton pedal is a really poor design, it can also hit the frame if you wheel the bike backwards, like manoeuvring in a busy train station etc. Also only one pedal folds, it's good to fold both in busy areas that the Brompton was designed for (again like train stations etc). The Brompton has some great bits of design and some inexcusably poor design too.

The 4th set you looked at only last a few months til the bearings go and the pedal locks.

wish they made a folding pedal with SPD cleats, or even better an SPD/flat hybrid

It doesn't matter that the Brompton original pedal can touch the rear triangle because you fold it in at last or out at first🤯

Just want to be on Brompton's side; that pedal is not meant for the way you trying to swing it *folded*.
Yes, but if the design could avoid such kind of problem, why not, Right? Been using it , and experienced couple of time, especially in hurry
