@@deannahenderson1199 Me three, it is always nice when someone brings up this song to me...since I am old I've known about this one for some time, good times
I saw this version of the Bad seeds in Australia in the late 80s apart from Nick: Mick Harvey, Blixa, Kid Congo Powers and Rolland Wolf wow what a force of nature they were
I do too! I also love "We will eat out of their pantries and their parlours, ashy leaving in their beds and we'll unload into their heads" I don't know why; gets me every time. It's just such a nice, blunt reminder of what this happy sounding song is about, and I adore it! :D
as a Deanna, this song will ALWAYS spook me, not because of the name thing. My first love sent me this song after we first met, and several lines of this song became a reality since then: "and this is a gun" "I hear its kick, I feel its bang" ...And don't worry 'bout where it hits, 'Cause it ain't yours to sin" "I ain't getting any younger ...and I don't intend gettin' any older" "Well, I ain't down here for your money I ain't down here for your love I ain't down here for your love of money I'm down here for your soul"
love love love love this song. Listening to it at work and jiggling around in my seat! Not going to be a productive day, have just found this NC pplay list ...
this was shot right before nick's first month in rehab, on court order after getting busted for heroin possession. with the admission date looming he was taking as much he could, and almost died a couple times. it's quick but the look in his eyes around 2:08 always struck me. you can see he's not in a good place
Was just reading an interview with nick and he was telling the apparent true story behind this song: deanna was a girl that lived in a trailer with her abusive father, nick and her became freinds and would wag school, she took him to a little hide out she had made where she kept all these things she stole from around the town, they started robbing houses together and one time they found a gun and decided to take it, anyway one day she did it alone and was caught by these religious people and beaten and interfered with, she went back to that house with the gun and shot the man, she was sent to a psychiatric ward and he was sent off to boarding school. Apparently.
Wow! Garage-rock gone berserk (or even more berserk than usual), and possibly the closest the Bad Seeds ever came to writing a straight-up pop-rock song on the order of [Van Morrison and Them's] "Gloria." I love the lyrics, too, of course.
My family pronounce my name Deanna even though its spelled Diane. My German mother told my American father what she wanted to name me but he wrote it wrong on the birth certificate. It became to much of a pain to explain that to people at school then work. Now after all these years sometimes I regret that I'm being called a name thats not even me. Though it was kinda funny telling a couple of people that I've known 20 - 30 years plus that they are pronouncing my name wrong. 😂
So happy to see so many Deanna’s😂
Congratulations sweet Deanna, you got swing
Love them!
I finally found a song with my name in it. And it sounds really good.
That was my thought, too!
Lol me to
🙌
Omg sameee I was named from this song!!!!
I love all of you
Waited so long for a song for all of us
I love the way he sings every single word in this song. "This is a GUNNAAA"/"and this is a day number UONNAA"
I love how this song is basically a twisted spin on 60's pop.
+Joe P. Which explains my dislike for it, 60s bubblegum pop is worse then the crap kids are putting out today even.
I was thinking more along the lines of The Kinks, The Doors when they did their shorter poppier stuff, etc.
Joe P. The Doors never did anything like that.
+Rattus Norvegicus I dunno, I thought some of the songs on Waiting for the Sun and Morrison Hotel could maybe qualify.
"never did anything like that". Yeah, right.
This has to be one of my favourite songs in the whole world.
You’ve led a very sheltered life

Even when Blixa is lip-syncing you can see his german accent haha
Baahaahaa !!! ;)
It's so cute
When Kid Congo and Herr Bargeld were in the unit, at their best!
Nick Cave absolutely does grit so elegantly well or Nick Cave elegantly does grit so well lol :)
I can never decide whether this song is more upbeat or scary. Either way it is awesome.
This does things to my body.
F*** yeh
One more Deana¡¡¡ 😊🤗
Nick Cave is such a nice man.
astralon85bamaggie
Yeah. He comes on like an outlaw in nearly all his songs, but I'm quite sure that underneath it all, he's just an old-fashioned gentleman.
My guest at work said I had a beautiful name and told me about this song I’m so happy bc I’ve only ever heard Diana so this is so cool!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY NICK! THANK YOU FOR EVERY WORD, CHORD, AND IMAGE.
I have to love this song... It's the only tune that has my name in it. LMAO
"Murder takes the wheel of the Cadillac...and death climbs in the back..."
yay! my name! finally.
lucky!
Me too!

It feels sorta surreal and strange to hear my name being sung (correct pronunciation and everything though!). This is honestly such a great song.
@Kiko Jikoo not sure what you're referring to? the character from my pfp is originally from a japanese show if that's what you're wondering haha

Hi Deanna's!!❤
Seeing this live was fantastic.
His hair. Please look at his hair. He's perfection. Depressed, well dressed and just fucking good looking.
Hahahahaha ❤👌
Definition of cool in dictionary... 80s period 🥀
@@qtra599 Still cool in '22. Check out Jubilee Street in Copenhagen if you haven't seen it already. I can't stop watching it. It's life altering...

I read that same story. I think it was in an article back in the 80's. NOT that I'm old enough to have read that, or anything…(Wait. Dammit. I'm OLD!)
keef78 What a story haha
keef78 ...nice tale...never let the truth get in the way of a good story ;)
I wonder it the first image of the sexy lady is her? That body could have been huge inspiration to nick too!
i assumed it was about Deanna Bond, a good chance they would've crossed paths.
I love this song! This just music from back in the day that told a story, not the most comfortable story but it's a great song.
Perfect for spring cleaning!
ha!
Merde Yeah
Gracious alive, I wish there was a more pretty song with my name in it.
There's also an acoustic Nick Cave Version- you may find it sweeter.
Hey dude rock on ❣️
Cool song.
perfect
not pretending, it IS the best thing ever......
Most brilliantly sudden song starting in the entire history of muzika!
Oh damn okay ❤
WONDERFUL ♥
omg im called deanna to dudes!! i feel loved :)
Me too :)
Nick Cave is OK and = Frank Sinatra meets Dracula. A perfect marriage of good taste !!!!
How the hell has this only got 1 million views?
Oooh I agree so much :D

Man .... I have to buy this album !!! It's fucking great !!!
Only Nick Cave could turn a hymn into a fucked up love song involving murder.
I used to blast this song at parties in the late 80s.....The place always wound up trashed afterwards due to everyone crashing and thrashing around.

F YES.
Inspired by Oh Happy Day by the Edwin Hawkins Singers, 1968. Later popularized by the Sister Act movie.
Hi! Another DeAnna here 😊
HEY MY NAME IS DEANNA!
rad.
Nick Cave realy knows how to grab you. Love the man.
Use me as a "my name is Deanna" button lol😂
