Thinking of buying a micro spey, I currently have a single handed 4wt 11ft that I spey cast 3 & 4wt spey taper lines on. Would these lines switch over to the micro spey 3/4? Or is it a different rating on spey rods? I really enjoy swinging spiders for trout and grayling and would like to have a go at 2 handed casting.
Totally agree on distance. Why do anglers think I got my chest waders plough straight in to waste deep before cast a line, I have caught many salmon whilst ankle deep.
Thank you was kinda worried about a switch as I’m new to salmon Spey casting . But it’s light enough for a sea trout too so might work out ok . Appreciate your reply Ian . Love from county Derry !
@@IanGordonsalmonfishing I really like the sound of this microspey . Interesting you seem mostly to use the lighter line weights . Im thinking though of the 8/9 but cant decide . I want to fish big flies on sink tip lines (as well as the lighter stuff) on a small spate river. Is there a 9/10 as well ? Thanks

As long as it has a "Spey" taper then yes they would. This will work very well on this rod and for this type of fishing.

Aye, I remember fishing the Deveron at Forglen when young and the old Ghillie making me fish it in wellies.
Hi Ian what reel do you use in this video please? I love the classic look
Hi I’ve just bought 7/8 switch rod . Can you recommend fly line type

@ Yes, we do a 9/10. I use it for the heavier stuff. I also use it for salt water fishing. Its a great rod.
You tried very hard to avoid using the word "switch" there Ian.....😉
🤣🤣 We did a Partridge rod with a proper lower handle back in 2002. Im surprised not to see another till now. 😀😉
ORVIS?
