I want to see them doing that live together without a single flam like in this video. This stuff is quantized to the moon and back. I mean both of them can play the song well, but there is no way that if you take two drummers and let them play the same stuff in unison like that, there won't be a single flam. This is heavily edited.
@@Anaximander29A obviously cause they aint robots, would you like to be hearing the flam on youtube? if u want to see a snippet of them playing check luke holland's tiktok.
@@Anaximander29A there are flams in this recording, it's not perfect, and that's what makes it absolutely insane. the trick is that luke and sam are hard panned right and left so they don't clash so harshly when there is a slight imperfection, but you can hear it, especially in the kicks. For a specific example listen to the snare lick in the opening, you can hear they're maybe a couple milliseconds off of each other. DCI drumlines do exactly this kind of thing though - and basslines go a step further splitting fast phrases between people cleanly.
yeah. i like it. I am left handed too but I play on a right handed kit because I get used to it since I was 9. So I had 2 rides, one on each side so I can do blast beat like sam lol.
Also noting the difference in snare hand technique. Luke is mostly using his wrist to chop it out (which is perfectly fine, just less efficient) and Sam is using just his middle and ring finger. He uses them as kind of a springboard to bounce the stick much more effectively
The use of a metronome does not negate the skill level of the drummer. A met can be clicking as loud as can be, but it still takes a lot to stay in time with it. Adrenaline is pumping, your heart is beating really fast, and your instinct (at least mine is) to rush like crazy until you’ve reached your physical limit. If you were being sarcastic and I misread that I apologize, but metronomes aren’t God. You still gotta stay in time with them. Playing as clean as they do on a song like this one is incredibly difficult, especially considering they’re on a full kit and not just like a snare drum or a set of quads or something
This is heavily edited & sampled. 100%. I love Veil & Sam… probably more than any other band or drummer & they are amazing drummers, but still. There is no chance that this sounded as clean as the mix.

Lucas Jenkins agreed anyone can play someone else's parts. It's writing those parts that made it cool. Luke's a great drummer phenomenal drummer but this day in age we are praising kids for covering someone else's stuff when in reality can they write it?
Because one Luke is right handed and Sam is a lefty, it really does look like a reflection in a mirror in those side shots. Just woah. Two drummers being that on time with each other takes a certain level of perfection. Damn.
Sam's double kick is so good. One of the best sounding out there, idk what it is but it just sounds perfect. Probably watched this 50 times and keep picking up nuances. Absolutely love it
Wow. Interesting sound dynamic with such precise drumming. I'm not familiar with you, Luke, but great job. I don't think Sam gets enough respect both in his precision and consistency. He plays 100% like this live and is the glue that holds the rest of the band together. Great upload!
this was tight as fuck!! so much epic shit happening at once. also nice to see the 5 piece back for a video! looks awesome on that DW kit. probably one of the best drum cover videos on youtube.
There is not a single man alive that can look this cool while playing drums other than +LukeHollandDrums. So stoked to be able to say I've hung backstage with this guy in the UK!
I love how deep their snares are. Amazing mix! Amazing cover from two very talented drummers! And definitely loving Veil Of Maya's new vocalist and their new sound
Pretty epic cover! The dual aspect added some cool texture. Next time, add some overhead shots, would have been wicked to see y'all on time and hitting in the same frame.

Alex Rundinger does it that way too I think
Thats the way ur supposed to do it.

not necessarily,i use push pull. there a couple different ways to do it
