Hey Monkeyfamily! What do you think of the face sculpts of these three figures? Which do you feel is the most disappointing? How do you feel about the oversized packaging? I don't usually approve of such things, but for whatever reason I do like how obnoxiously this first series of Diamond Select figures are presented. How about you? Thanks for watching and supporting the channel, everyone. It's great to have you along with me every week, and I do appreciate your time and interest. Have a good week, chums! 👍🐵
Hello Monkeyboy! Boy, you weren't kidding about those head molds! Jeanine looks like a librarian from the 1950s, Dana resembles one of those silent screen actresses from the 1920s, and if you shave the hair portion down and repaint it red on Gozer you've got Annie Lennox from the Eurhythmics 😧 I don't mind the packaging in certain instances like this. It all comes down to the storage as sometimes a slight chunky box might fill the right amount of space in a nook, storage box, or on a shelf; but of course in most instances it tends to be the opposite. Anyways, keep up the great work! PS One of these days I'm going to catch a live stream when you guys go live. There always seems to be something wrong on my end, like getting my alert for yesterday's show several hours after you went live. Maybe next time I'll be luckier 👍🐒
@@alexjames7670 Annie Lennox 😅😅 now I can't unsee that. Cheers for watching and leaving a comment dude 👍 PS It's so frustrating when the Tube doesn't send out notifications on time. This is a very common problem for us. We put posts out a couple of days before and on the day, so if you see one then it's best to hit the link and set a reminder. It's a monthly stream so we know it's difficult for people to get used to looking out for it. Thanks for the support dude 🙏🐵
@@MonkeyboysToys I agree. They're quite good at turning phraseologies into Orwellian faux pas, but when it comes to making sure everyone gets their alerts, they're as useful as a sandbag against a tidal wave. Sadly, the last two live streams were missed even though I actually hit the alert button; although to be fair, and besides not receiving anything from them, a few streams were missed due to the timing of my job, but I don't believe I would be wrong in saying that I have had some bad luck with Internet related events. I do apologize for realizing that Zoul and Annie Lennox are twins, and you're not alone in the terror. As soon as I saw that figure's face, "Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves" has been running randomly through my head ever since 😭
@@dezt5108 Sure, it's a nice diorama but I do feel that 15 figures is a lot to expect people to buy. Of course I cannot open these anyway because that would traumatise me too much, as you know haha 😅😅
I must admit Dave I’m rather fond of my “oversized package!” 😂 but the packaging do seem a little unnecessary, but jeez Janine!!??? What the hell!!! The glasses looked like a set I made at school once out of pipe cleaners lol. Thanks for sharing dude, overall I actually think the figures aren’t bad at all, but janine! 🤦♂️
The only one of those Diamond Select Ghostbusters figures I have is Walter Peck. He was something like a £5 pegwarmer when I found him. I do have the Diamond Select "Real Ghostbusters" Ray and Peter, but they were not easy to find in the UK.
@@GreyHulk2156 Oof, that Walter Peck is all over Ebay. I see why DS wanted to include him, but he's not at all inspiring as an action figure. Those DS Real Ghostbusters are like hen's teeth. I'd love that set but I don't want to remortgage the house. 😢😕
It is difficult to pick the best face sculpts out of those. Janine is the definite loser. It does appear that some toy companies struggle to get female facial likeness right. Those boxes are pretty bulky for what they contain figure wise. I guess the diorama parts are why it's so big. They could have left the diorama out, but i guess they wanted a marketing trick to get collectors to purchase all the figures. Thanks for a look at your GB female figures. 👍
@@reading_MOVIES Thanks for watching dude! Yeah female figures are often a bit ropey in the boat for some reason, especially pre face printing tech. Having said that, I have several female figures that are stunning. These 3 are awful in comparison, but I still love the line because of the obnoxious packaging 😅😅
@@reading_MOVIES no no, that would require selling my car. I only have five of the fifteen. I have the four guys covered in marshmallow from a different wave that don't come packaged with the diorama pieces. This first set of 15 is pretty expensive and most are hard to come by. Not a friendly line to collect these days unfortunately. 😕
@@GreyHulk2156 Technically all lambs are microwaveable, but this one is full of special beans so that you can heat him up for cosy snuggle time. Janine looks like my old kindgergarten teacher who used to be a nun, but the Gozer and Dana figures aren't bad. I do wonder why you would need so many extra hands.
@@TheOire Ex-nuns are the best 😅 My friend has a Mafex (I think) Joker that has like seven pairs of hands or something. It's madness. Thanks for watching dude, have a tremendous week! 🙏🐵
Good grief! I wonder what Annie Potts thought of this monstrosity? The face sculpt probably better depicts her 2016 look, though, to be fair. I have to confess, I always found Gozer the Destructor to be more attractive than Dana Barrett. Did you have a preference yourself? Evil incarnate, or New York based session musician/artist?
@stephengray8374 I think I liked all the ladies about the same really. I suppose Gozer had the edge because of the attitude and outfit, but I always thought Janine was the prettiest. Thanks for watching dude! 👍🐵
Hi Monkeyboy! Have you heard that MASK toys are set to make a comeback in 2025? It looks like they'll be replicas of the original ones, similar to the Real Ghostbusters re-release from a few years ago. Not sure who the company is that's making them, but hopefully they'll be back at retail over the next year or so.
@stephengray8374 I have heard mutterings about this, and it's about bloody time. However, I have a feeling that today's production costs will translate into crippling retail value unless the plastics used are horrible. The assembly of the vehicles is labour intensive and I doubt can be done as cheaply as the 80's allowed. I'd certainly be very interested to see how this plays out over the next couple of years.
@@MonkeyboysToys Yes, I think you're right. Its unfortunate as I never had any MASK toys and would quite like to see them make a comeback at retail. It'll definitely be interesting to see what happens, though. All the best 👍
