Hello sir I was registering for soundexchange account and stumbled upon a problem. US TIN IS BEING ASKED EVEN WHEN W8BEN FORM IS UPLOADED. IF I BYPASS THAT THEN 30% TAX IS MANDATED... KINDLY help SIR
Hi, please check did you tick the correct option in the starting when it asked "Are you a US Citizen or US Based Business Owner?" So basically you have to state that you are related to US in any sense, then SoundExchange will ask for FTIN instead of US TIN, FTIN stands for Foreign Tax Identification Number. Please go through your complete registration and correct the mistakes.
Very helpful video, THANK YOU! Bu it would be great if you could make a video explaining the right order in what we should register our music. Let's say, 1. Copyright 2. PRO 3. Songtrust and etc. Best wishes Konstantin
Do i have to register each and every song separately in Iprs? I have so far released around 20 songs, and its showing the max 5 songs can be registered one time, do i need to do it four times then. Do i have to pay 1200 each time? Thank you
Nope, you can register your account only by adding details of one song. Then your registration will be processed in IPRS. Once your account is created successfully, you can register all your songs in one go, and you just have to pay ₹1200 one time, after that you can register all your songs for free for a lifetime. You can see how to register your songs here - th-cam.com/video/bDoobPu-ID4/w-d-xo.html
@@SirGamma very helpful thank you. One more thing i need to know. Do i have to register separately as a publisher? I just registered for writer/composer can i register simultaneously as a publisher too? Or do i have to wait for becoming the member first? Thanks
Hi Sir Gamma, I had a question regarding publishing administrators. In India, publishing administrators cannot collect publishing royalties from IPRS because, as a policy, IPRS only collects and distributes royalties directly to the artist/publisher. Since publishing administrators dont own your publishing rights and only collect royalties on your behalf, they cannot register with IPRS as a publisher. In that case, how can a publishing administrator collect publishing royalties in India??
Great information 👍 one more thing, if I release my song through Distokid ( with content id ) and then register it with Songtrust ( obviously from your code ) and my song is used in youtube videos by other creators, then how do I get paid? ( i mean who collects the yt royalits Distrokid or Songtrust? pls reply...
Thanks for the appreciation. Both Distrokid & Songtrust will collect royalties for you from TH-cam. Songtrust will collect publishing royalties and Distrokid will collect master recording royalties. If you do not register with Songtrust, publishing royalties of your songs will be distributed to other people / publishers because you are not claiming them. This happens on all digital streaming platforms and not only on TH-cam.
@@SirGamma thanks for the reply, and also correct me if I am wrong - can I go with Songtrust without taking the content id from Distrokid. ( is it the right decision or any issue with the royalties collection ? )
@@TPWmedia it's not right. As I said, Songtrust and Distrokid both collect separate types of royalties, you should register content ID with both, Distrokid and Songtrust.
Hello Sir! I've completed my registration with IPRS and Songtrust. Do I also need to register with PPL, or is there a potential conflict regarding royalty rights between IPRS and PPL? Kindly help with this. Thanks a lot for making this series!
Yes, you should register with PPL also. As far as I know, there is no conflict between IPRS, but I'll try and get in depth and will try to make a video on the same soon. Thanks for the suggestion
Hi I found your video very informative, I wanted to know that, How many artists can be added in IPRS as a publisher? If it's "multiple" then everytime do I need pay 2200 for each artists? Please help me with this...
For artist registration the fees is 1200, and yes if you have to register multiple artists you'll have to pay 1200 per artist. 2200 is the fees for publisher registration
@@SirGamma I talked to IPRS officials, they said it is mandatory for music creators to have their name under Music Composer category in the Credit List. But the misconception going on around the composer of the song is very bothersome. Most of the clients will refuse to put the name of a music producer under the Composer category. Eventually we'll miss out huge on royalties
One more thing sir, in payment details while registering on sound exchange, it asks routing number along with account number.. It would be helpful if u elucidate that payment details filling process sir🙏

@@SirGamma Sir, If I don't put music producer name while I register my song on PRO and other organisation, anything could happen or its ok and last question can I set the percentage of royalty while I register my song. And thank you so much for helping out Independent artist ♥️
@@jongkee551 @jongkee551 If you do not put producers name in composer section then it'll be illegal, and finally the producer can claim out all royalties, even from you if you've claimed them which belongs to the producer. So the composition royalties are the right of a producer if the musical composition is done by them. And royalty percentage cannot be set by you, it's fixed in every PRO. Also, the main royalties (master recording royalties) will be owned completely by you, no one has a share in those royalties until you offer someone.

does music producers comes under Author Section in IPRS?
A composer does, producers are also the composers of music of the song, so yes you can register as an author if you're a music producer.

Does sound exchange collect royalties for world wide interacting streaming platforms like distributor or are there any other organisations?
Hi, Sound Exchange collects only from "Non-Interactive" platforms worldwide. From interactive platforms your Distributor will collect the royalties.
