  • Digging a pond with excavator for my friend. It's 10 hours of digging turned to 17 minutes. TIME LAPSE
    First I dug out a new pond section and then removed the dam section between the two sides. Because then I was able to dig the new pond part without the water. It was a little bit tricky to dig this way so I can reach to every spot in the pond.

    Great but it would be good to see the pond finished though. That is the point of digging it

    Great job, great operator. The tilting attachment and ditching bucket are a great combination for something like this. Too bad you didn't have a helper to haul away the dirt so that you didn't have to keep moving your dirt piles. Where was the jobsite?

    • @AFHProjects
      @AFHProjects  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's so little pond project and to bring another machine to move dirt is not practical. Jobsite was in South-Estonia.

    Nice work! How many days did it take to dig that out? Was it about 10ft deep?

      Thank you! Around 2 days and yes maybe 8-10ft deep.

    Seems like the operator moved alot of dirt twice that he could have side casted sooner.

      Tell me more, please. How? If I needed to move all back there.

    how long would it take to dig a 1600 sqr meter pond? (no an actual pond but where a pond will be made) a V-shaped hole with gradual depth (no more than 30 degrees slope) to be exact. I'm trying to calculate how much it would be to DIY it but I have no idea how quickly it could be done with an excavator

    • @AFHProjects
      @AFHProjects  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends the place and soil type, shape and what's around there. If there's chance to haul the dirt around the pond and you don't have to lay all over several times it will take around 200 hours to dig and grade all out. But I don't know the exact condition, what type of excavator you have and your experience to operate with the excavator. It may take less or more time, so many factors.

    @gregblanton9386 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    A skid steer would have saved the excavator operator a ton of time moving dirt, otherwise it was great work.

    • @AFHProjects
      @AFHProjects  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeh, but what's the difference? Cost to client is the same or higher. Need transport for 2 machines and pay for another operator. If there is longer distances then it's better to use some kind of dumper.

    Will this pond hold water without being packed down with a dozer?

    • @AFHProjects
      @AFHProjects  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, water is raising up slowly. Water will close the earth by itself too.

      AFH Projects That’s great news, I’ve got good clay soil but everyone’s keeps telling me I’m going to have to rent 2 machines and I don’t have the money. Thank you for the info, I’m just gonna dig the hole and smooth it with the bucket!

    • @AFHProjects
      @AFHProjects  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Where is that spot where you want to dig? Is there wet ground or is it somewhere in slope? If it's up on hill or the place is quite dry then you may be problems.

    • @natethevoicemusic6085
      @natethevoicemusic6085 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      AFH Projects it’s a spot in my yard that always stays wet unless we are in a drought.

    How does this hold water now? How high is the normal level?

    • @AFHProjects
      @AFHProjects  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It holds now, there was the old field drainage system close to the pond. He sealed some of them and digged them through.
