Dr Joel Castro | Ending Endometriosis

For the 1 in 10 women who live with endometriosis, the pain can be excruciating and relentless.
All too often, endometriosis has life-changing consequences, with 50% of cases leaving women infertile. Surgery is the only way to remove the painful abdominal growths, but they often return and need further operations.
Dr Joel Castro is the Head of Endometriosis Research in SAHMRI's Visceral Pain Group and his team is determined to find non-invasive ways to control the pain and drastically reduce the symptoms of endometriosis.
It's a personal crusade for Joel, who has multiple family members living with the disease.
