I remember hearing the original when I was real young. It sent chills through me. I never heard a woman sing like that before,so earthy, so strong. I played that 45 over and over for days.
Tina is THE most electrifying performer. Her raw delivery, ad libs and freestyle dance moves are always my favorite part of her routines. Here she saves a little shake at the end with that crazy cool saxophone. I love it.
I am saddened to hear of the passing of Tina Turner yesterday. She is known as the Queen of Rock & Roll. Her first record "Boxtop" came out in 1958 when she was known as Little Ann. In 1960, her first single as Tina Turner came out and it was a smash hit. "A Fool in Love" became a million-seller. For Tina Turner! Long live the Queen of Rock & Roll. You're simply the best!
Tina is a real powerhouse. Earthy, raw talent, and without todays techno tricks to hide the flaws. She's beautiful, but not by todays superficial standards. She needs no one while up there, tho the others are fun to watch. An early example of integrated onstage performance. I'd like to hear from her how she was treated backstage and off-camera...
I love this... This is so raw. It's awesome to watch her through the years and how she evolved from being so raw and gritty to being so polished, Tina is the best, always was and always will be. This early stuff is amazing. Thank you for posting!!!
@Anthony Taylor firstly this comment is old. Secondly, I was making a comment that the power and soul in which she sings remind me of him , not saying she doesn't deserve her own accolades or taking anything away from her and all she had accomplished. People get on here and argue about anything, lol.
I know what you mean and I agree with it but maybe she tops JB. And trust me, I love JB, he’s my idol and he high-fived me once. But Tina is like James Brown turbocharged! She’s electrifying.
Wild - I just love it! Yes msnikkinicole86 I agree - That blouse and skirt can not mask Tinas raw energy and power. The sound, the music, the ingenuity. Damn I'm excited to hear this now let alone what it must have sounded like back then. An awsome post - thank you
Her voice sounds tired and scratchy but as usual she is giving you a great performance. I am sure this is after Ike was working her to death and she had no time to give her voice a rest. Also Tina is the Queen of Rock and Roll and Aretha Franklin is the Queen of Soul. Two different genres of music from two different performers and singers. Thanks for the post.
Do you hear the voice on her? Powerful. She is singing from Deep within. Boy oh Boy did she know this would be the song of her life and marriage to Ike. This woman is awesome.
wow tina turner had such a small speaking voice and it was so soft/delicate and kinda cutesy. but lord when she sang!!!!! her voice was beyond strong and hard and had depth and deep sometimes. amaaaaaaazing!!!!!
Excellent song. It's also fun seeing Darlene Love in the middle of the trio of back-up singers. Where's Ike? Note: this song looks like it was done live, without lip-sinc. Commendable!
In a 2000 concert Tina did at Wembley she said this song was from 1960 and from their first record. But for some reason I thought this recording in particular was performed in 1969. So it may have been written in 1960 and obviously multiple performances done since then.
Ike got a kick out of that screaming. No other woman was screaming like that. It was raw and powerful. The man in the studio told her stop screaming in his Fgking microphone when they recorded a Fool In Love....
Trust me hun...it is the movie. I've seen it 20+ times. It was the part she shed a tear on stage after he kissed her and she started singing "Fool In Love"
She rocked for over 60 yrs. RIP Queen Tina. She was simply the best. Better than all the rest.
I remember hearing the original when I was real young. It sent chills through me. I never heard a woman sing like that before,so earthy, so strong. I played that 45 over and over for days.
I can’t watch a performance of Tina or hear her sing without getting goosebumps all over. What a Queen she was!
Tina is THE most electrifying performer. Her raw delivery, ad libs and freestyle dance moves are always my favorite part of her routines. Here she saves a little shake at the end with that crazy cool saxophone. I love it.

The shindig house band backs her up admirably. Tina could mop the floor with Beyonce and all these other so called Divas.
