I have a feeling he floored the Honda.... You don't floor a Turbo Charged Honda with a CVT. The computers idea of "Full Throttle" is 50% throttle power, and gradual build. You need to leave 35% throttle left and then slower ease into a floor once you pick up a bit of speed and the turbo is spooled. 😁
How about the gas tanks, are they equally filled? Tire pressure checked? Serviced or race as is where is? All those are for me very important before comparing cars. But if I have to chose, it will be the mazda.
I just ordered a 2021 Mazda sport GS with 186hp like the one you tested. You didn't test them taking curves at high speed in which the Mazda excels. The other two should have been biting dust.
I have an ‘18 Mazda 3 Touring and love it. I’ve had Civic’s in the 90’s, a Del Sol VTEC, Ford Focus (got rid of because the DCT trans). Had a Forrester, got rid of because of the CVT. Got the 3 because it has a real transmission and it has an upscale styled interior and the outside looks better than the now ugly Civic and Corolla
For those who didn't get the laptop joke: It's the same joke as the "If you see a car with gopro facing backwards" because if you see a laptop out in a civic hes probably finely tuned and they probably put hours into tuning it so they are always datalogging and they are always making adjustments.
