    I'm from the Netherlands. We also used to have a 2wd 7610 Q-cab with the original shifters! Over here it was called the 'spaghetti gearbox'. The pattern is weird (especially 2-3) but the box itself was bullet proof and with some experience you shift without thinking. We also swapped the engine for the Gen. III type engine, my dad did this back in '95 when I was only little. The tractor was traded in 2009 for a NH T5050 which is still in use today.

    I remember jumping into one of those for the first time to cart silage with a 10 tonne Kane Trailer. When I left the yard I had only worked out 2 gears. By the end of the day I had all found all four, and it took a bit of fiddling to find them.😂😂

    Late again with the comment. But I remember driving one of those. And an H gearbox too. Also remember my mate having a 6610 I think it was. Was driving that on the road at 16. Going off to do some rowing up with a hay bob. Also remember the 7610 he had doing silage. I think he got his from Jon Lawrence. His farm was over on the other side of harfod. Near Simpson cross.

    There was a third type of column shift, not h pattern, similar to the rubix, real head fuck too...
    Drove one in an early ap cabbed 7610, .. and the same generation 4610s with ap cabs had them too
    Maybe it was just the way the rubix was set up in the ap cab of that time...

    Can you explain the sand and how you manage to keep it out of the lagoon or slatted tanks it's great for the cows though

    • @Cotlandfarmer
      @Cotlandfarmer  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Michael Walsh the sand all ends up in the slurry lagoon, if I had slatted tanks I wouldn't use sand. Once a year after pumping or tanking the liquid out we go in with a loading shovel and spread the sand using dual spreaders.

    the H patterns Q cab 6610 and 7610 are very common in Ireland but never seen a rubik pattern gearbox. Could you imagine having to change down on a hill, engine dying whilst pulling a load with that gearbox???? Have seen the very odd LP cab 4610's advertised online with rubik pattern gearbox though. The Q and super Q's suffered from rust in the cab due to the glass/window rubbers trapping moisture. Grew up on GEN II & GEN III series fords, 6610's 7610's a 7810 and a 8210. The modern stuff leaves me cold. Probably need a VR headset and a Wi-Fi connection @ this point to drive a Fendt

    Those boxes were a nightmare once worn u couldnt get gears cleanly far better with the old floor gears between ur legs .the side ones could be very stiff to change especially if it had worn linkages it could jam . Those sankey cabs although comfy i think . Were rotboxes if not cleaned often i found the older 70s q cabs stood up better to corrosion . I reckon it was fords crap paint to a certain extent . As all ford cabs later ones rusted badly even onto 40 series and tms ive seen some of those very rough . But then it goes back to what those had bn doin muck and slurry kill metal of all kinds . Fert too . So its little wonder with the amount of chemicals are corrosive elements that any survive . Cleaning them defgo helps some farms just leave them clarted all the time . Where as some clean them and look after them it pays to care for them . Thats for sure . I reckon that ur old tractor might be rare havin the box left as it was when new pls take care
