Was expecting a catch and cook. Instead it starts with a heart warming humanitarian effort. Humans helping humans. So grateful for this video.

I am shocked to see so much devastation. We just marked the 11th anniversary here in Japan, of the tsunami that hit our coast. Sending heartfelt wishes for strength and courage to those of you who are suffering.

You are an honorable man/human being. One of my favorites on TH-cam. Stay frosty bubba, glad to hear you and your fam are OK. We are also going through floods here in The US and the state of Vermont. No where near 14.5 meters but still nasty. 14.5 meters sounds like a fantasy but I believe every word. Just crazy, now we all know where you have been.

Something bad happening and just watching, something bad happening and actually doing something.
    That's food for inspiration. Kudos.
Also thanks for sharing another fine episode of the series.

I`m glad you showed the world what complete and utter devastation the Northern Rivers, Lismore and Eastern Seaboard towns have suffered...
As a local myself, thank you for your efforts to get essentials to those who needed it most... Keep up the fantastic work and channel... :)

Sorry to see the flooding was so hard on your area, the forces of nature can be tough at times but it tends to bring out the best in people, helping each other then working hard to build it back good as new. Really enjoyed the island camping trip as I always do. It's very cold here, still all iced up, and I was immersed in your world of warm sun and water, and the sound of the ocean. It was wonderful, thank you! Take care.

I (would) say, "yeah, it must be nice being able to live his lifestyle", rather than working 70 hours a week, I (would say that), yet I'm old enough to understand that regardless of what you think of another's life or how much you may covet their lifestyle, they have life issues as well and it is always better to at least be thankful for what you have in this life as an individual. I am happy with my life and I am happy his joyous seeming life can add even (more) happiness to my own. Thank you to the few hard working TH-camrs out there that I subscribe to. Most perhaps believe you live the "easy" life. There is no such thing as easy, so thank you. This gives me an escape and an extension into a different world. So awesome bro. Thank you. 🙏 🤲

I was so worried about you and your fam, I am so glad to see you are alright, I hope your extended family is as well. it is really hard to see all of this destruction from afar and not be able to help. and that you were able to help as well... thank you for the update, I come from a very poor Caribbean island that has been constantly facing these types of climate based extreme weather events for the past 60y and I know we would be even more destitute but for the help we get... so its great to see the community getting together to help!

Got to love how you self taught catch and cook chefs can create something special with very little just the basics at hand. From the catch to the filleting, to the prep, to the cooking and then the presentation you are definitely in the top 5 in my book and 1 of these is a professional chef.

I've watched the various disasters over the years happening to to your country Rod. Between the fires, floods, droughts, heat and cyclones disrupting your lives, the common constant thread, was the absolute sense of community, sharing and helping that these situations bring to life.
Born and raised for 16 years in FNQ, I'm happy to see that the values of empathy and compassion haven't been lost over the years.
As I sit in the safety of my recliner here in Ohio, watching you guys do exactly what I did in my youth 40 odd years ago, I'm struck by the old saying of the more things change, the more they stay the same. Despite the huge technological advances over time, we're still just some blokes wanting to escape the rat race for a bit, and having a flick or a spear session, and appreciating what nature offers us.
I'm already looking forward to your next post. Cheers mate!

The wet season monsoon rains arrived and left a trail of flood damage and destruction. To all affected best for the future , best of luck as well . Best wishes from a person born in a cyclone in the 60's and used to moving house after the floods and starting over many times . So glad my parents decided to buy an old Qld'er house on the hill opposite the old wooden Baron river bridge north of Cairns city centre.

Another channel I watch, is a guy called Chad Zukerman. He goes full Primitive in a desert somewhere in the States. He eats the prickly pear fruit as well. His trick is to burn off those little prickles. After seeing him and now you eat and say how nice they are, I’m keen to try them myself. Although we don’t have them here in Tas.
Great to see you back doing the Solo camp, catch and cook gig. Love it.
