My first concert was New Kids on the Block. Think I was a freshman in high school and I definitely know during the concert. I screamed Joey really loud and he gave a little chuckle back at the end when everything is quiet so I know that was meant for my comment, so that was very special for me.

If you want something more recent with NKOB, try Boys in the Band, and 80's Baby. (This one was written for a concert they did with Naughty by Nature, Salt N Pepa, Debbie Gibson and Tiffany) and I do not believe either song was part of an album. But they are still definitely something to check out!
Holy crap that was a blast from the past! Never listen to people nowadays who say don't use your camera phones at gigs - I wish I'd had a camera phone for all of the gigs I'd ever been to. For instance the NKOTB gigs I went to, all I remember is being deaf for about 2 days afterwards because of the screaming fans and that I lost my watch during Hangin' Tough at the first gig. Maurice Starr was their producer for most of their stuff I think.

So, Dirty Dawg is from the album Face the Music ( the last album released before the unfortunate hiatus). It's from around 1994 when grunge and gangsta rap were all the rage, hence the aesthetic. The FTM album suffered greatly from no radio airplay and no videos airing on MTV. You had to order the videos from Video Jukebox. Sadly, my cable company didn't offer that channel. As for the other videos, all are from the Hangin' Tough album. Yes, Jirdan Nathaniel Marcel Knight has an amazing falsetto ( and 2 middle names!). The Please Don't Go Girl video seen here is actually the 2nd one they made. It's the one played heavily on MTV. The original was however pkayed on BET on their late night Midnight Love video show. That's where I discovered it. Fun to watch if you can find it. Loving that you are continuing your journey to being a Blockhead.
Fun fact: Dirty Dawg is based on a true story of a girl that cheated on Donnie and the video was banned in Canada. It’s on my favorite album, Face the Music, along with The Block album. The guys were also much more involved in the production of the album, so it was actually “more them” than their previous albums. A lot of fans will say it wasn’t who they were but that’s not true for when this came out. During their run the first time, I was about 12-18 years old, so by the time Dirty Dawg came out, I more than welcomed it. I love it because we were all growing up together and I wanted them to have a more mature sound, also New Jack was popular as was the rap duo Nice & Smooth who rapped on that track. The album received great reviews from their harshest critics but it was the large number of younger fans, the ones who were still 12-13 that felt let down. Many of those younger fans are loving that album now as adults, which has been nice to see.

You should check out their performance on The Kelly Clarkson show from a few weeks ago. They performed with Salt-n-Pepa, En Vogue, and Kelly. Hangin' Tough was the last song where all of the artists came together. All joining in on the choreo no less. Such a fun performance.

I love Dirty Dawg, this definitely their most awfully underrated album and era. Their fan base treated them so wrong. Well, they were just little girls who wanted their pretty boys doing happy music, it’s kind of understandable haha I became a fan this year, and this is one of my two favorite albums, it was by far their best vocal album in their first round and the R&B ballads are delicious. Shame on you blockheads 😂

Dirty Dawg is an ok song but honestly not their best lol...Another good song would be Single ft Ne-Yo....and maybe a live performance of Please don't go girl but a recent one Joe sounds amazing as a grown man singing that song!
