A little cultural nuance that some people might miss from this trailer: The Takeda clan has historically been famous for its horsemanship, their cavalry were said to be the best in Japan, so for the leader of the Takeda clan to mess up and fall off his horse in front of the entire army is both extremely embarrassing and highly suspicious.
It's worth purchasing this movie. I can tell you. And I'm not the only one. One of the best reasons is you'll be able to watch it several times, and even if you can't pay for internet anymore.
Superbe film !
I remember seeing it when I was a kid. I thought the violence was too much. Years later when I watched Saving Private Ryan it reminded me of Kagemusha.
Kagemusha or Ran? Which Akira Kurosawa film is the ultimate masterpiece? Both are cinematic marvels, but I'm leaning towards Kagemusha for its exploration of identity and the complexities of war. What about you? Let's discuss! #AkiraKurosawa #Kagemusha #Ran #FilmDebate #Cinephile
It's Franz von Suppe's "Light Cavalry Overture." A fine piece, but in this context it sounds goofy, especially compared to the actual soundtrack in this scene, which is exalted.
A story about an invading force causing an uprising where a queen/princess disguises herself as a handmaiden and is exposed to the more grittier aspects of her territories? That sounds familiar...
I don't get why, a month ago I saw Jonh Oliver blow something up to classic music, and it did not throw me off, and was, imo, a better choice than, say, a modern CardiB, for making it feel like a grand thing
Right!? Might as well play the default circus theme (Entry Of The Gladiators - Julius Fucik) . Imagine "Ran" with Strauss playing in the background - ludicrous!

I love that Coppola and Lucas loved Kurosawa so much that when he asked for help they were immediately willing to go out on a limb for him.
Total and complete weebs. Before that was even a concept.

Except he didn't. He fell, sure, but he was (luckily) out of sight of the troops. But he did get chewed out by his generals.
dude.....havent you watched the film?? thats not actually Takeda Shingen....thats his double impersonating The Lord....he is a commoner
@@giridhargopinath9504 thats the point hes making
@@steveonmareisland5268 he doesn't say he did. he's explaining why they were pissed at him
Thank you for the pointer. 👍🙋🏻♀️
shoot an entire army and in sync without the addition of special effects , the best director the wolrd .
Kurosawa warmup for Ran, and STILL a masterpiece in its own right.
In my mind it's without a doubt better then Ran
@@Bayard1503 I prefer it to Ran
@@Bayard1503 ran it’s better in any scenes
George Lucas is the luckiest person in the world he get to work with his inspiration.
😎👌🏻

where to purchase it
What a great movie!! A masterpiece by Akira Kurosawa.

In one word, the movie is magestic.
I remember seeing it when I was a kid. I thought the violence was too much. Years later when I watched Saving Private Ryan it reminded me of Kagemusha.
The story board of this film was gifted to Mr. Satyajit Ray by Mr. Akira Kurosawa.
Damn it, those are perfect actors, He definitely looks like Takeda Shingen and this is like 1 to 1 Nobunaga :0
Got pretty close to what we know of Ieyasu as well.
That Nobunaga was hot af.
I saw it a long time ago in the theatre, never forget it !
Still love this

Just imagine if some director adapt kurosawa style about legion on filming napoleonic era 😮😮
1:15 A Vienna Waltz must be very fitting for a samurai battle lol
Its not a waltz, its a march.
Maybe Rossini's overtures too.
It's Franz von Suppe's "Light Cavalry Overture." A fine piece, but in this context it sounds goofy, especially compared to the actual soundtrack in this scene, which is exalted.
@@steveonmareisland5268Yeah, definitely felt out of place here. Solid film. Questionable trailer.
An American Zoetrope/Lucasfilm Ltd. Co-Production - Released by 20th Century-Fox.
Great film. Gorgeous
This is iwant to see in netflex now but it didn't happen so sad :(
the academy slid on this one!!!
Nah
A masterpiece of Akira Kurosawa and japanese cinema...which stole almost of the plot from Umetsugu Inoue's The Third Shadow
Surprised they haven’t tried to remake this
Bad idea
The story is well-known in Japan But hard to remake Kurosawa's style. He is unique
They fail to make simple movies remake ...
Imagine to try remake something like this
Seen ran, not this one yet unfortunately, its on the list
2:53 WTF????? Where did they come from???? What are they doing in the middle of battle??? Using time machine???
dumbass, japanese cinema highly respected kurosawa, by showing him behind the camera was a mark of respect
it really is a work of art
Una de las películas más expectac
ulares . Después de Akira Kurosava
😎
Encontré esta peli en un cassette de betamax hace años, había otra llamada huida a cachemira. pero no logro encontrar estas pelis en estos tiempos.
No sabes si está película y otras del mismo estilo se la puden encontrar traducidas???? Y on Line???

Great (love from India)
Its a very good film.
Spectacular
Want to see this in Netflix
Did they use that public domain music to save on royalty money?
信長と家康に素人を使うという演出がすごい

This movie walked so Ran could run.
*Kagemusha mushed so Ran could run
Where I can watch this movie fully..!
The napoleonic battle hymns work well
Some great visuals, but the western music took me out of it.
omg, me too, i dun't understand why they put western music inside this movie O_o
agreed. Music really doesn't fit the period at all.
Hmm, I thought it was quite refreshing and an amazing score overall
I don't get why, a month ago I saw Jonh Oliver blow something up to classic music, and it did not throw me off, and was, imo, a better choice than, say, a modern CardiB, for making it feel like a grand thing
I am looking for it on stream or DVD. I can pay. Anyone?
Disappointed by remaster/music. What's the original sound like?

0:40 the atmosphere in this shot is very different in the movie!
One of my very favorite cinema shots of all…
I'll be truly grateful, if someone/anyone or somebody/anybody would upload this full movie with English subtitles please.
Great dramedy.
1:15 King Theoden
"DEAAAATHHHH!!!!!!!"
Aahh si es verdad... a mi también me hizo acordar esa parte.

Funny (and sad) how this plot is materialising in real life with Russian president Putin being substituted with clumsy body double
0:55 shake my head. It should have been Japanese instrumental instead 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Right!? Might as well play the default circus theme (Entry Of The Gladiators - Julius Fucik) . Imagine "Ran" with Strauss playing in the background - ludicrous!
Dont take it too seriously. Its kinda Kurosawa's humor. Kagemusha contains lots of humorous scenes compared to Ran.

What’s the movie about?
@borray s Sounds bad ass.
@borray s Have you seen Netflix show Age of Samurai Battle For Japan.
It’s excellent.
영화는 좋아.
Saw this film about a decade ago. Since Trump was elected I've been trying to remember what it was called.
The music you put on this is completely wrong!
Muito lindo esse filme eu desde Brasil
Where is chewbacca ? no 3PO ? .......beh ......!
와!
Odd fucking choice of music.
still better than avanger
Horrible trailer for a superb movie ruined by bad soundtrack
근데 편집자가 개판인게 문제지.
Worst choice of music in a trailer I've ever heard.
