Crank sensors aren't usually intermittent, they usually just die. Check your wiring really well, make sure there's no corrosion in the connectors. Check your connectors going to your ECM and TCM as well. Test for continuity between the ECM and the crank sensor while moving the wires around and see if there's a possible break in the connection
You may have it backwards, if the trans is getting stuck at high gear it could throw off the engine RPMS resulting in that engine code, as far as automatic transmissions go I'm no expert and will just refer you to the transmission control module, perhaps that is what is resulting in your stuck gear. Also Crank sensors sense position not speed so if you did have a bad crank sensor you would know it.
