  • Megh is a Hindustani classical raga. The meaning of Megh in Sanskrit is 'Cloud'. Hence this raga is mostly sung or played in the Monsoon season. Another raga which describes rain is raga Malhar. So these 2 ragas were merged and a new raga was developed, this raga is raga Megh Malhar.
This is one of the very old ragas found in Indian classical music. This raga is related from Lord Krishna time period, when Govardhan Parvat (mountain) was on Lord Krishna's short finger during the Govardhan leela, then Lord Shiva generated a Damru sound to protect Lord Krishna. That sound which was generated by the Damru was raga MEGH....
There is legend stating that Tansen's physical agony after singing Raga Deepak (Poorvi Thaat) was pacified with listening to Raga Megh Malhar rendered by two sisters, Tana and Riri.

So some questions . Can this raga make it rain ? In reality . So will it rain if we sing it . Is the tone important while singing , i mean if we sing without playing an instrument can it make rain and so we should sing it loud or medium amout of time is good for making it rain

One can feel the effect of rains, when the raga is sung properly , with or without instruments. Perhaps there was a time when there was no pollution, and there were great singers, who could bring the rains on earth with their power of singing.

@@raagsaagar1228 so if I sing it can it make rain . So will it really work and begin to rain if I sing. And you told about a feel of the rain effects . I mean will it only make rain effects to us or will really rain. Is raag megh different from raag megh Malhar. Which one of these rain songs can make it rain . Which is the most powerful rain song . Well can you make the lyrics of raag megh Malhar . And I heard about raag Malhar . Or is it the most powerful out of all . Then can you do a lyrics for raag Malhar if it is different

@@saru0072 hey let me try to answer your question. Yes you can make it rain by singing Raag megh Malhar... But but my friend... You need to sing it in perfect frequency with 100%perfection. This was made possible only by Tansen back in the 16th century.
When the perfect frequency hits ... Scientifically the clouds are brought together due to some force which causes it to rain... Hope it helps
