  • Most ranch rodeo bucking horses tend to be easier rides than you might see in PRCA pro rodeos. In this rodeo, however, the rough stock contractor brought some horses that tested these working ranch cowhands' riding skills to their limits. #WRCA #RanchRodeo #broncriding #Rodeo
Ten teams representing working ranches in the Roaring Springs region compete against one another in order to qualify for entry in the WRCA World Championship Ranch Rodeo in Amarillo. The Old Settlers Reunion & Rodeo is always a great excuse to return to a small, beautiful town I have known since childhood.
The Motley Dickens Old Settlers Reunion and Rodeo is an annual celebration for the two sparsely populated counties with a long heritage of farming and ranching history.

What is censored about the video?

I had to alter the audio to avoid copyright claims and YT does not want me to show the end of the event with ambulance and all. Issues that wind up altering the actualities of history in my opinion.

Why does anyone find this ok? I don't get what's so appealing about bronco riding? It's just a poor horse with a strap on the hind end to make it buck and a person keeping their head hyper flexed to cut off air a bit and make them freak out? This isn't the 1890s of cowboys trying to break a wild horse anymore cmon man! why can't we just be normal and do proper barrel racing or pole bending even trail riding
I'm not trying to hate of course but I feel things could be more ethical is all this type of stuff is really dangerous for both the horse and rider

Why are you triggered by bronc riding? It's not like the animals are killed during or after the event. I believe broncs also live pretty much in the open during the off-season, so it's not like their kept in a cage all their lives.
Further, knowing how to ride and take a bucking horse is a valuable skillset since horses don't come into the world fully trained.
Rodeos are comprised of real-world skills that people got really good at, so they made a competition to showcase their craft.

@xswooshx Some bronc horses can die during these events either getting caught in the tack breaking a bone or even in damage on the skin can lead to bad infections horses will harm them most bronc horses don't live how you hear some are stalled or in tiny paddocks on the rare occasion pastures but brought back in after an hour or so
Also the way these horses buck is unnatural due to the rope you see around the flank causing them to freak out and the moment they get a rider they freak out feeling trapped and start to buck
Lastly learning to stay on a horse bucking due to a rope around the flank while you are riding and keeping their head so low they start to freak out isn't a skill it's a way to wow the audience to feel and say things like
"Woahhh that horse is a wild one"
"That horse is crazy dangerous so glad these people are trying to wear him out!"
"That's a great rider this is so real!"
People who don't understand what goes into bronc riding should just do that little bit more of research it helps so much and helping you understand why I find this unethical and even way to dangerous to keep promoting something like this you can still be supportive of other sports like show jumping, lower classes or dressage, or even low class barrel racing to see the ethics and potential of horsemanship some higher levels of some sports are also unethical but it's hard to support something like this considering how even vets don't recommend this sort of sport to any horse and actually warn you of how much money you are going to be paying for those injuries and problems these horses will have in the furture even some bronc horses once they stop bucking so high and frequently to old age they are either sold off and surrendered to rescues with hip problems head and neck injuries or even arthritis
