Wheeler 4(B)(G) Creature - Human Cowboy Affinity for Kamigawa (This creature costs [1] less for each Kamigawa set represented among permanents you control) Egg and Nut spells you control gain Flash 3 Power / 2 Toughness -Sure I die to shock, but think of the value!
Fun fact about muxus, they are 5 goblin brothers in a trench coat. They roll a dice to see who gets to be king that day, and on a roll of a 6, they take the day off.
As a New Zealander I know many birds but I'm going to name the Kakapo. It is the world's only nocturnal parrot, the world's only flightless parrot and the world's heaviest parrot.
Favourite bat is 100% Eyetwitch! Nothing quite like clamping it, and then drawing 2, discarding 1, and then drawing another one! Even better if you discard something you wanna reanimate!! 10/10 card.
Obviously the best bird has got to be Storm Crow. I've been cataloguing some old boxes of cards recently and was amused that both of the first two cards here were ones I was looking at literally yesterday. After those though the only other one here that came up I think is Wall of Frost.
It is sadly not a magic card (yet) but favorite bird has to be the Bearded Vulture. Nothing better than a giant bird that basically looks like a dragon
Bird. River Hopooe has to be the favourite bird. I like that falcon used to be a thing even if I never played in that era of magic. I like a good plaxcaster frogling in the right deck. Screeching bat is my favourite because both artworks are so nice and it was one of the first few cards I ever saw when getting into the game. Everyone on this episode was amazing too :D
I found that for protection DEBT was always a good acronym to remember how it works. A protected creature cannot be: Damaged Enchanted/Equipped Blocked Targeted
My favorite bird is Baleful Strix. It has Flying and Deathtouch and draws a card on etb. When I got back into magic after a long break this card had to go into every deck for me
Fun story about Weatherseed Totem, I first got into Magic in 2011 at the summer camp I went to, I believe in 2012 or 2013 I decided that instead of buying another preconstructed deck, I was going to buy one of those 1000 card lots for like 20 bucks on Amazon and a big pack of basic lands and build decks on my own. This led to fun things such as Frozen Shade being the most busted card in our metagame because none of us 12 year olds could realize that it did not permanently give you +1/+1 for a single black mana (and no one ran removal). But also, it for some reason contained a lot of the totem cycle, I think probably 3 per card. Never really played them but remember seeing them in my collection while sorting and just laughing about the past
Bird: High Sentinels of Arashin. Frog: Uurg, Spawn of Turg. Bat: Mirkwood Bats. It's so much better than other bats that it isn't very fair. Wheeler you were lovely today, as always. Guests were fantastic and I am providing engagement for your video.
Skeletal Vampire is my favorite bat. I made a desk that was JUST about making SO MANY bats, then using Teysa, Orzhov Scion to remove someone's board. My best friend Names the deck, "Hats for bats, keeps bats warm"
Notably in Standard right now every card with permanent Protection is at Rare or above, except for Spectrum Sentinel which only has protection from Multicolor in a non-multicolor set. I don’t mind Protection appearing as a temporary combat trick. Also Hexproof From is still used but also in niche situations at higher rarities, like Skrelv in ONE.
Protection isn't that hard to me because of an acronym: Damage Enchanted/Equipped Blocked Targeted Does your thing do any of these things? Then it doesn't work on my card.
@@LadyLunarSatine Yeah that does help remember what it does. The argument I have heard against it, even if you can remember everything it does, is that it just does a lot of things and acts how you'd think some times but not others, making it unintuitive. Like there's also Hexproof and Indestructible which are also defensive keywords but those do one, maybe two things. But at the end of the day it's okay to have some keywords that mainly exist either at high rarities or in temporary application like how Double Strike rarely appears unconditionally, maybe being on 1 overcosted uncommon but otherwise being on combat tricks.
My favorite bird isn't actually a bird but does make birds, and is so good at it I made an entire Commander deck around it even though it also isn't Legendary. Wingmantle Chaplain.
Seeing the thumbnail: Oh, I don't recognize these folks! A few mins in: Oh, wait, I know these people, kinda! Hope y'all are doing well, and great job at the PPR! 😊
If Chris had put that Emrakul promo into their deck, that would be an error, as Rise of the Eldrazi was before players were allowed to include the prerelease promo in their sealed deck. Playable promos started with the choose-your-guild prerelease kits in Return to Ravnica I think? Go ahead and um actually me on this one though, as I'm not 100% on it
If you think any creature who's art is tall has to have Reach then by that logic anything even remotely large has to have Trample, and Menace also can apply to so many things. And then you see the issue when prioritizing flavor over game balance. Also, card art can change so having a specific height requirement in art leads to other issues.
Wheeler said to type birds in the comments so...uh...Pidgey. Skarmory. Swellow. Staraptor Mandibuzz. Yvetal. Toucanon. Gigantimax Corviknight. Bombirdier. I think that was every gen.
Slaanesh is the “prince of pleasure” when it comes to the 4 chaos gods. Seeker is a “woman” (in universe both genders) to lure mortals before revealing the crab claws and murdering them. They also have anywhere from 1 to 6 breasts depending on which model sculpt you look at. But that’s my rambling about Warhammer, they were great commander decks.
I will die on the hill that if every avian is creature type Bird, and every feline is creature type Cat, every canid should be creature type Dog. Basically what I'm saying is that it's weird that werewolves aren't Dog Humans.
Creature types aren’t phyla. They are based on common perception. It’s why “Ox” is used for various Bovines or why Insect applies to things that aren’t insects.
“We can derail this at any time” Wheeler knows that their audience is a bunch of people who love tangents (it’s me, I’m the audience)
it's me, I'm the audience....when I'm not 3 steps to the left watching something slightly related
Wheeler 4(B)(G)
Creature - Human Cowboy
Affinity for Kamigawa (This creature costs [1] less for each Kamigawa set represented among permanents you control)
Egg and Nut spells you control gain Flash
3 Power / 2 Toughness
-Sure I die to shock, but think of the value!
Wheeler is such a chaotic host, he always brings great energy and gets other people talking
Fun fact about muxus, they are 5 goblin brothers in a trench coat. They roll a dice to see who gets to be king that day, and on a roll of a 6, they take the day off.
If Wheeler ever does drag his persona should be named "Mimi Wheeler"
Roseate Spoonbill.
I do deeply appreciate how many Quandrix cards literally ask you to solve for X. Also, birds.
I like both land destruction and destructive lands....
As a New Zealander I know many birds but I'm going to name the Kakapo. It is the world's only nocturnal parrot, the world's only flightless parrot and the world's heaviest parrot.
The world's most prude parrot, too!
Thank you for having me, it was great to be here
Favourite bat is 100% Eyetwitch! Nothing quite like clamping it, and then drawing 2, discarding 1, and then drawing another one! Even better if you discard something you wanna reanimate!! 10/10 card.

Crazy no one said Leovold, mfer is literally extending his hand with a dumb grin on his face
Bird.

I found that for protection DEBT was always a good acronym to remember how it works. A protected creature cannot be:
Damaged
Enchanted/Equipped
Blocked
Targeted
Favorite bird is of course Aven Brigadier.
My favorite bird is Baleful Strix. It has Flying and Deathtouch and draws a card on etb. When I got back into magic after a long break this card had to go into every deck for me
Excellent, as always. Thank you.
No disrespect to James, but I love the way Wheeler calls for another card. 😊
I like how Wheeler says three like he is the Tootsie Pop owl
Wheeler is my favorite bird.
Kaw!

Here we go...
Favorite bird: Baleful Strix
Favorite bat: Surgeon Commander
Favorite frog: The Gitrog Monster (no contest)
Oh, I was just going to say:
Bird
Bat
Frog
Compliment for Wheeler
The other issue with running Life Matrix is that you are legally obligated to say "You're in the Matrix, Neo" every time you activate it
Why is wheeler in this on both the left and right side of the image?
Gotta give a shoutout to my boy Marrow Bats, judge's tower all-star
Bird: High Sentinels of Arashin. Frog: Uurg, Spawn of Turg. Bat: Mirkwood Bats. It's so much better than other bats that it isn't very fair. Wheeler you were lovely today, as always. Guests were fantastic and I am providing engagement for your video.
Love me some Plaxcaster Frogling, the frog mutant who looks like he is eating or blasting someone offscreen.
Skeletal Vampire is my favorite bat. I made a desk that was JUST about making SO MANY bats, then using Teysa, Orzhov Scion to remove someone's board. My best friend Names the deck, "Hats for bats, keeps bats warm"

My favorite bat card is Lucille
big fan of birds - robert pattinson’s riff adds a lot to the song’s loneliness
If Chris had put that Emrakul promo into their deck, that would be an error, as Rise of the Eldrazi was before players were allowed to include the prerelease promo in their sealed deck. Playable promos started with the choose-your-guild prerelease kits in Return to Ravnica I think? Go ahead and um actually me on this one though, as I'm not 100% on it
29:00 wheeler there are around 40 frogs and I know this because I have 3 4 colour frog tribal decks
billy eichner screaming in my face to name a bird, me flustered and unable to think of any, even though i myself am a bird
Favourite frog is Spore Frog (fog frog), but mostly because I also had a Pattern Of Rebirth to put on it.
Favorite bat is vampire nighthawk. Favorite frog is that token one from Neon Kamigawa.
i have apparently gone my entire life thinking immersturm predator was a demon and not a vampire
Hot take - if Muraganda Petroglyphs doesn't buff it, it's french vanilla at the least.
Favorite Bat has got to be Sengir Nosferatu. The flavor hits me right in the feels.
Bird has got to be Zephyr Falcon. First bird I ever played.

Crows are my favorite animals. But kookaburras are my favorite bird!
My favorite bird is Unsettled Mariner

I was sorting through my chaff and I found 4 copies of these card, 3 printings and 4 different languages. All brown bordered tho. 💖
Empyreal Eagle or whatever their name was is one of my favorite birds. Looks cool, useful ability. What more do you need?
As I recall, there was a short story piece connected to the card Showstopper. It was remarkably fucked up.
Potoo/Frogmouth birds. They're just...eyeballs with wings.
Oh, Eyetwitch!
Call to action engaged: Ibis (bin chicken) is a bird.
I'm a really big fan of Ikoria's Avian Oddity. Such a weird bird
Arrogant bloodlord would absolutely demand you shake their hand after they beat you
If you couldn't tell from my profile pic, I love birds! This one is a Steller's Sea Eagle.
splendid bird of paradise
White blue bird token with flying from the Azorius guild kit.
Name a bird? Blue-footed Booby.
Noticable with some of the questions how Wheeler is used to interact with improv-professionals 😅
Honestly, yeah. Scryfall Roulette is my favorite thing, but I guess that's dependent on their being comfortable hosts. This doesn't feel like LRR.
DJ looks like if Wheeler and Graham had a child
when I see fractal token I still remember that commander game where Serge tried to cast Darksteel Mutation on it 🤣
I still have a soft spot for Angelic Destiny. 💖
Bird: Shabraz, Skyshark
Bat: Masked Vandal
Goldfinches are very pretty birds
Next EDSC we better see Wheeler’s Keiga deck.
I play Spidersilk Armor in my Minsc & Boo deck.
Siamese Fireback is my bird submission.
Go birds!
Loons are pretty cool.
Why there is Birds Sports team...
29:15
Some good answers there, but nobody answered Yargle therefore you are all wrong.
Steller's Jay
Guineafowl
Rufous Hummingbird
Sedge warbler is a bird that exists
Wheeler is the GOAT

Go birds!
Favourite bird: Kākāpō
Grouse! Most fun bird to hunt.
favorite bat card: Lucille
Storm Crow is best bird
Bird. I also got chased by a peacock as as adult too
With respect, Breena, the Demagogue BIRDS
That one bird I saw earlier
moar please!
I can't belive there isn't a penguin card (the enchantment doesn't count)
...I'm not sure I've ever actually heard it pronounced "Warhammer Forty-Thousand" before.
Why no yargle as fav frog !
I'm pretty sure Pidgey is a bird
Whippoorwill best bird
Greater Sage-Grouse
How has a blue footed booby not been mentioned yet for favorite bird?
2/2 white blue griffin token
I will die on the hill that if every avian is creature type Bird, and every feline is creature type Cat, every canid should be creature type Dog.

Cedar Waxwing
This reminds me of the time I Manorina melanocephala
Jumbo Commander has L takes on birds. Birds are great, sea eagles, birds-of-paradise, peregrine falcons, etc
"Birds"
Emu, malakir familiar
