We tackled assembling the bike as a family project. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxzg0clhbtRf2gGxPkVETFKJJKGqdsorQu The package is heavy, but I have 2 teen boys that were able to move it. The written instructions were great- we didn't need to watch the videos, but it was good knowing that the option was there if we needed it. After we were able to get it set up, the boys each rode 3 miles and I rode 8 and the bike stayed quiet. The display is easy to reset, and you can put it on whichever setting you are using (time, distance, calories, etc). I will say that my butt is a little sore from the seat, but that could be because I haven't rode in a while. While it is comfortable for me, it was not comfortable with the seat position for my friend (could not move the seat back far enough and he slightly looked like a kid riding a tricycle that he had outgrown). He also said that the seat hurt his manly parts. We are going to look for a different seat that will be compatible with this bike for him.I did purchase the Wahoo Cadence sensor and strapped it to the crank of one of the pedals. This will sync with my Apple Watch, iPhone and will import data in to my Health app. Wahoo does have other sensors available other than cadence. I can also keep either my phone or my iPad on the display and they both feel pretty secure.

Finally! A video that reflects the amount of effort I usually put into any of my home projects! Too many perfectionists on youtube.

Use a rubber band to apply tension on back break. Or a zip tie.

Drill in lower screws at small increments to lower the bike and have some adjustability for resistance, sand down the wedge so it’s smooth and doesn’t destroy ur tires, the lower u go with the bike the more resistance is added as ur shocks are loaded increasing the frictional force with the back wheel.
If ur tire is too grippy to slip on the wedge then buy a cheap wheel and sand the grips down to a smooth surface and add a little water, alternatively just add lorry grease to the wedge

good experiment with a little modification you can make it sturdier but good try nonetheless

  • @itarry4

Good concept but awful execution. A bit more planning, thought and time spent on it and you could have ended up with something quite useful.
Making it out of metal for a start, having a u shaped bracket or way to attach the bike, say using the rear drop out bolts and a stand under the bottom bracket. Then make it triangular or use supports to hold the upright that you place the bike on. It'd help make it a lot more stable and stronger. Then design some sort of plate that can be raised or lowered to put resistance against the rear wheel or even small metal wheel that can be adjusted so it can either be moved backwards and forwards so it places more pressure, so more resistance to the rear wheel or make it so the small wheel that touches the back wheel harder to turn, rather than having it press harder against the wheel so again you can adjust it to make it harder to turn the cranks. This second idea is possibly better as it might be less likely to cause damage to the tire or wheel or the tire wear faster.
Really wouldn't be that much harder, other than working out how the resistance wheel will work. Also you'll be able to really ride the bike as you'll be able to stand up and if working hard rock the bike a bit from side to side, like you'd do on the roads without the bike falling off its supports and probably causing damage to the wheel, spokes or frame.

The reason why it's called DIY is because you Do It Yourself. How the **** could I get equipment for cutting metal at home? The purpose of the whole DIY thing is that it's cheap and I don't have to buy expensive industrial equipment. This video was really useful for me, because in our present economical situation something like this is doable.
I love when a video says "DIY something" and uses 1000 $ equipment...
