Hey, I know this isn't a train video or anything, but from here on out I'd like to transition into a variety channel and make gaming videos on top of my usual train content. Gaming videos won't take over, but I feel like this is a good avenue for me to take and avoid burnout or tiredness from doing the same train stuff over and over again for 9 continuous years now. Trains are not my life and not my only passion. I've made it clear gaming is a huge passion of mine and making this video was a lot of fun, in fact it was the most fun to edit video in quite some time. Anyway, I hope you'll understand this new direction, give the new content a chance, and please let me know what you think of this video!
Personally, I would probably prefer if you made a second channel exclusively for gaming and kept this channel exclusively for train/railroad content. I enjoyed the video but this kind of gaming content usually isn’t really my thing. With that being said, I 100% support you trying something new! This certainly isn’t something I expected to see today lol
It's so shocking that this game came out 23 years ago, yet it's perhaps the one where those characters (especially Kirby) are arguably the most emotional they've ever been (at least, when it comes to main series games)! Nowadays, Kirby feeling any strong emotions is done anywhere BUT in the mainline games. It's not that I want him to be depressed all the time, I just want him to feel sad or even cry when a moment needs to have him act that way (for crying out loud - literally -, in this very game, Kirby cries if you don't get any bonus in the bonus game after every level)! Him just having a blank face or slightly anger is fine, but it doesn't do it justice!
I mean in Kirby is pretty expressive in FL. Kirby looks up and cries to Elfilin when King DeDeDe captures Elfilin and flies away. Then in the next world, Kirby excitedly runs up to the cage with the fake Elfilin, thinking she's the real one. But when it's revealed to be fake, Kirby is shocked and upset. Hell even during gameplay Kirby and Elfilin take turns playing in one of the attractions during that amusement park level.
Almost the graphic quality of a Sega Dreamcast, just low resolution/smaller screen area at the center. I thought this is the way they managed to put so many polygons in the intro and cutscenes, they look so good!
I've always felt like HAL labs and specifically Kirby as a franchise is sorta special to Nintendo's whole scene. They're usually not the biggest release on the console, but they're also usually among the most polished on it. They have a sort of familial intimacy to them in tone I feel like, though maybe that's just the HAL logo doing some heavy lifting. Also there's just never much in the way of hype overdose for the games, despite it having probably the most consistently good output of any nintendo IP. As for HAL labs in general, well, the legends about Iwata are never gonna end at this point since he's basically been canonized as a saint among nintendo fans, but also being associated with the works of Sakurai and Itoi gives it a sort of reverence on top of it's still pretty solid (if a little monopolized by Kirby at this point) output.
Kirby games have historically been released later in the lifespan of their consoles. Kirby 64 came out a year before the GameCube was released, the N64 had already been out for 4 years. Developers get better at making games for a console the longer it's been out, because they figure out tricks for optimization and what works hardware wise. It's a trend I'm a big fan of, Kirby games are always excellently polished and a great display of their hardware's capabilities. And I agree, unlike games like Pokemon that get huge amounts of hype for months before their release, Kirby games are much more moderate and are still always excellent.
@@kaiyagazley8502 Pokemon releases most of their games during the end of the handled lifespan, particularly the third versions of the main games. And they are mostly the best versions of the main games.
I think another thing that Kirby 64 offers that's worthy of these accolades is the texture work. I mean, they clearly were trying to carry forward the "crayon-and-watercolor" look of Kirby's Dream Land 3 while fully making use of the N64's polygonal capabilities. One would think reconciling these two aesthetics bound to completely different dimensional limitations would be a fool's errand, but that's exactly what this game succeeded at. There has never been any other video game to express itself with this kind of visual identity and I'd be lucky to ever see such a thing in my lifetime.
Kirby 64 was always a mixed game for me, but I love how charming the game is within every corner. This video does a great job explaining the sheer expressiveness within this charming little game.
Thank you so much for not stretching the gameplay footage to widescreen. I can't believe that people are still doing that in video essays in 2022 😑 ETA: Loved the video, can't wait for more variety content 💜
I love this video!! Your editing, use of silhouettes, and overall tone make this so delightful! I’ve never played 64 but Kirby has my heart so I really want to play it after watching this!
When did a game mention that? Last time i checked 02 and the dark matter Species as a whole are evil entities that take over planets and possess people
Kirby 64 was one of the last Kirby games to have a certain flair and magic to the expression of the characters. After that, it seems like Kirby is almost always happy... or at least it seems his spectrum of emotions is less shown. The cutscenes in later games are less endearing.
I like how the footage is from an emulator hence why dark matter looks like static I e been wanting to make a video talking about mario 64 and kirby 64 as well as dkc though ive been reviewing alot of reviews to broaden what i think as well as maybe use some other points people talk about that i liked me too bro me too
My problem with the Kirby 64 cutscenes is that some parts seem to be sped up. To me, it's really distracting and it makes it harder to understand what's going on.
@AmtrakGuy365 Dude this is hands down one of the best game reviews I've ever seen and I watch game reviews every day of my life. Trust me when I say my stamp of utmost appreciation for this video is one of the best proofs that you make good game reviews ever is a good stamp.
Wow I really like this video transition and honestly man I really support the fact that you are trying to switch things up a little, I have a question though, So I had an idea and I was wondering if I could make my own version of engines of amtrak but instead mine would be something like Engines of CN or Engines Of CP for my channel. It was just an idea because nobody has really made a true engines of series for a freight railroad so yeah other then that. Great Vid Though :)
adeleine had a different reaction in the cutscene in desert desserts th-cam.com/video/Qf0pwsX73jw/w-d-xo.html at 0:34 your guess is good as mine what she was upset about

Hey AmtrajGuy365, I love your content.
You uploaded as you wanted it doesn't have to be train related

Well, this is an interesting change of pace.
Am I right?
Kirby 64 is always a wonderful time. I love this game.

Ive played a lot of Kirby games during my break of trains. I still play them occasionally.

ETA: Loved the video, can't wait for more variety content 💜
This was an interesting video. I would like to see more videos on different video games. Nice diversity to the usual train content
This is a very good introspective piece! I loved the presentation, very fluid, and also based Chiruno pronounciation, very nice!
It's indeed expressive and so adorable!
I love this video!! Your editing, use of silhouettes, and overall tone make this so delightful! I’ve never played 64 but Kirby has my heart so I really want to play it after watching this!

Last time i checked 02 and the dark matter Species as a whole are evil entities that take over planets and possess people
I simply love this video. Thank you so much!
Great video, I should have realised you would be good at doing a game essay too but this was even better than I expected.

Cool video AmtrakGuy! I think you should do a Video on Earthbound for the SNES. Truly one of the most Amazing games I had ever played.
Now Nintendo gonna charge the makers of Darling in a Franxx for using the name 02
Where da Amtrak at?
I LOVE FUN COLOURS AND SHAPES AND AND BLEEDING EYE MONSTERS FROM HELL
The 9 spotted

Plz make another trainz theory
Trainz????
Chez.
Try to change the look and identity of your channel to be more suited to cover broader topics; rather seemingly only focused on Amtrak.
