Having been to many FSU UF games throughout the 90s and early 2000s, it was deafening when they were on defense. That stadium was built for sound enhancement.
Similar to LSU, being loud in that stadium is an understood assignment of every gator fan that attends. The bleachers are also built at an angle that makes the sound tower down onto the field which helps a lot
I was in The Pride of the Sunshine (UF's marching band) for the last 2 years of Spurrier and the first 2 of Zook. The crowd was so loud during pregame before the 99 Tennessee game that, on the field, I couldn't hear myself playing the trumpet at full blast. Ive been to every stadium in the SEC and it's absolutely the loudest in the conference.
Crazy to think that Utah has become a team that Florida fans would go nuts for a last minute INT, to barely escape with a win against. Go Utes, Go Gators.
I've been going to games since 1992, that Utah win & crowd that showed up for Billy Napier's first game was one of the loudest I've been apart of. Like 1997 against #1 FSU type loud! And the 2023 Tennessee game didn't disappoint either. Say what you want but the Swamp is a tough place to play in
I've never been to a gator game to experience the sound but my day is coming and I can't wait. We've been deemed the cockiest the loudest and the most annoying fans ever and I love it. It's great to be a Florida gator
@@goatbebryant4915ok first of all that has nothing to do with this comment. Second it’s not “another” 20 years. Hopefully you exaggerated or you need to stick to basketball. Third, we’ve had completely new coaching changes as well as a young team right now, playing at Utah’s stadium. This comment is talking about Florida’s stadium. 2008 i think it was when UF faced South Carolina and barely won.. that stadium was the loudest i think i Ever Heard..i seriously heard from people who claimed to hear the noise miles an miles away that night
When Florida and Auburn played in 2019 it was electric. College Gameday was there and SEC Nation too. The roar of the crowd when Kyle Trask hit Freddie Swain on a slant and he took it to the house is crazy. Antonio Callaways touchdown on 4th and 14 against Tennessee was loud too.
Nothing is louder than the TN game last year against Bama or Kentucky. The swamp is great but Neyland is louder. Florida has been as high as 115, last year Neyland broke the record at 125 decimals.
The key is, when Florida is good. My, how times have changed. I worked on jet aircraft and I've both seen and heard that place get as loud as an aircraft engine at power. Florida is not the only place. I think it goes in cycles, depending on how strong the program is at any given time. All stadiums have their moments. Its all about design.
The Swamp is the right answer! Noon, 330pm, or night game...the Swamp is always juiced up and bringing it! Some stadiums need it to be night games or if it is a close game they get nervous and wait in a big play vs pushing the noise at all times on defense.

Loud. When I was there in college. They used to have Kamikaze Halftime. A bar across the street sold half priced Kamikaze drink. You could go. Drink. Show your ticket stub and they let you back in the game. Also at the end of the game, it was nothing to see flasks left in the stands. That’s one reason it was loud. Fans were high, riled up and toasted.
Penn state makes that place look extremely tame. Florida is loud, but Penn State is BRUTAL. But by far the loudest game I’ve ever been to in over 30 years was when Texas played Ohio State in Ohio Stadium during the Vince Young years. It was unbelievable and unlike anything I’ve seen since. Went to a game at Ohio Stadium recently though and was wildly disappointed by the environment.
Would be interesting to see opponents pre snap penalties accumulated over some period of time and compare to other stadiums. To me, that’s probably a pretty good indicator of how loud noises and how much it affects the opponent.
As a Gator Hater, I've been to 3 games there.(ARKANSAS,FSU, and Tennessee) and I have to agree it is the loudest and most obnoxious sounding stadium. You can literally hear a sound similar to a large bee's hive. Don't confuse passionate fans to them being the rudest of anywhere. Neyland is pretty loud as well. FBC Mortgage is fun when it's bouncing.
I was at the Utah game last year when amari Burney got the pick that sealed the game in the end zone. That's the loudest crowd I've ever seen or heard in my life and I've been to a lot of stadiums
The Swamp used to be one of the most feared places to play in all of college football. As they say, only gators got out alive. I hope we find our way back there soon.
That stadium is angled very steep. First game I ever went there was the year the Gator Bowl was played there and it felt like I was sitting on the edge of a cliff. That has a lot to do with the way noise sounds there. Well that and when they’re good… those fans are so damned obnoxious, they’re loud just listening to themselves spout nonsense.
If it's Florida, Georgia or Alabama and the game is close then there just isn't much that can compare to Tennessee, that place gets crazy loud for sure, but i've only ever been to Gainesville once and Tuscaloosa once. I just can't see how they could be much louder, and i seen the 2001 game against spurrier where Tenn and UF played late in the year and mannings first trip to bama.
Went to the Auburn game @ Florida a few years back. They ran a HB Toss to La’Mical Perine that he ended up taking 75+ yards to the house. When he broke that second tackle to hit the open field, that crowd pop was the loudest thing I’ve ever heard
