I use it and other paid chatbots as well. I like Gemini (it's great for creative writing and translations). It has made the fastest progress compared to other LLMs. (Six months ago, the model was useless; now it gives me decent results.) In six months, Gemini could be the best LLM model.
I picked Gemini advanced because of two primary reasons. The million token context window and the ability to share it with six users in my Google family membership. But the llm lags so far behind openai and anthropic. I still use those first until I am done consuming the free plan, then move to perplexity, then groq and finally use Gemini advanced as the last resort.
It might be interesting to have a snapshot comparing Geminin with Claude and ChatGTP. I think I heard that the latter is used at 40X the rate of OpenAI's product which is pretty crazy and I guess Google is also lagging. Is Google advanced cheaper than the alternatives? I guess they may bundle it in with NotebookLM which is their standout product
@@maikvanrossumwhat he is trying to say is that it’s not an accurate reflection of the AI’s performance because the AI has already been trained on that book. It probably already knows the first line of that paragraph
You don't need Advanced for Gemini Live, it's free. This was kinda rehashing things mostly, but i did like the explanation of the context window use. I have Advanced and really haven't had use for it yet, or a huge difference from the free version outside of Gems, which have been pretty cool to use.
In my country, Romania (EU) you have only the voice mode for free. Gemini Live is only for paid version. I pay for for "Advanced" since it was called Bard Ultra. Using NotebookLM and Gemini are the best for me to do research and learning.
Hi Saj I used Gems after your video on this subject and while they are useful, I could not get it to stop showing products with similar names to our products which meant that I stopped and continued to use a GPT instead.
It's on purpose. They left the free version unfinished or buggy. That to push the paid version I think. I have both and you can see the difference in response style. The paid version is much more polished.
@@zanzabar7878It's because they're working on the APIs. The thing that connects Gemini with with different functions of the phone such as making commands to the phone. What Assistant used to do but more intelligent. That's gonna be a show roll out. GPT. Claude are just an LLMs. Gemini is that but with more Google services to connect to. Plus Google has Android (Software / hardware), Chromebook etc... It's not the same ecosystem as the other two. So they have to convert those traditional softwares into AI tools. I don't think they'll come ready overnight. It'll be gradual roll outs. Thus one word "patience".

@@SkillLeapAI yes I agree. Just sharing my thoughts. Gemini always impressed people with features but not the outcome. But they will improve I believe. IMHO you must have a very specific use case. For my use they are all heads and shoulders above each other and indispensable for different tasks. Claude for coding, OpenAI for voice and strategic planning, Google for huge context window and Google, mistral for free API to do donkey work.
@@SkillLeapAI At this time, I look at Gemini Advanced as having huge potential very soon and I would not be surprised is in a few months it's ahead of the competition and in 6 months head and shoulders ahead.

That's exactly how I feel. Gemini is getting much better nowadays!❤
I think more like in 3 months will blow the doors off the competition, but 6 months, for sure.

Can Gemini Advanced search both Gmail and Drive simultaneously? That would be helpful for projects involving a mix of emails and files.
I never thought of that, that would be a killer feature I would pay for.

You shouldn’t be uploading well known public domain novels to test long context window. This book is surely on its training data.
So…? It’s training, not storing or copying.

Super helpful video, thx!!
Isn't the Pro model available for free in Google AI Sttudio? Some of this stuff does get confusing when swapping between providers and models!
Ye, it sickens me all this mess. This is why i use Claude and ChatGPT, you open, use, close. Or, you connect your API, use, and thats it.
My POV is anthropic innovates, Openai, take the innovation and make it way better, Google still lags behind
Nah, I used all 3, actually 4 different premium GPTs and Gemini in terms of work and integration is the best
Agreed Gemini is underrated. Also the context window is huge. You can do so much more

Can you do data analysis with it too?
yes. but, IMO, is it best to pair it with NotebookLM.
Thanks, valuable video
The link of coursera is out.
A 1500-page document is great but in terms of byte size what does that equate to?
I tried a 200 page pdf and asked questions of it and Gemini advanced gave me useless answers.

What model does NotebookLM use?
It's based on the same Gemini foundation model but notebookLM one is fine-tuned for research and podcast generating. It's kinda like a Gemini agent.
Damn!
Google gemini is good, but when compared with results of chatgpt, gemini is worst. This is my personal experience.
It does have some options though that no other chatbot has including that crazy context window
