I was so intimidated with hair, still am, but now it's extremely calming for me to just flick away. I have to tell myself it's just paper and I can always start over again if I mess up or don't like it. LOL. Makes it much less intimidating. Plus watching Kori's videos helps relax me too.
Hair is something I want to start trying this year. Last night I spent some time browsing Etsy for all sorts of coloring pages. Maybe that will spur me to start.
I'm happy to hear it helped! These are definitely my go to's and while I do take tutorial requests for other brands, these are the ones you'll see me use in lives and finished pages more because I just love them.
I just snagged the procolours for a birthday present to me. I saw on another channel in comments someone said they were also good for shading and highlighting over Derwent Inktense. Yay! Thanks for the link!
Awesome video I just purchased all mariola's hair pictures the only pencils you mentioned I don't have Derwent pro color I'm going to have to order them tyfs.
Like you, I store my Lightfast with my Lumies. I also store my Procolours with my Polys. The shades or transitional colors missing in one, I find in the other. They all suit my type of coloring. I love to layer for days.😁
I haven’t tried pablos for hair yet! I got the set relatively recently but now I’d like to test them out more. Usually, I just use polychromos for hair and maybe some luminance to add vibrancy. I don’t have derwent lightfast or procolours. I tried a couple procolours open stock and disliked them, haha. But I see they have some specific uses. I may pick some up open stock in lightfast colors specifically and try them out next time I do a portrait! Im impressed at how those details show through with the procolours in your artwork
Yea the Procolour is great for hair but anything else not so much. Polys are always good. Excellent range and good their point well. Pablo's have been really good! They may go up further on the list soon!
Jaw dropped! Pablo’s are wax- based?! Who knew (other than you and Caran D’Ache😉)?! Thanks for another very helpful video, I really appreciate that you reference adjectives like “creamy and soft” to a particular pencil brand and don’t throw the terms around arbitrarily, as I think a lot of colorists do; gives us, your subscribers, realistic expectations for what we might like to try/purchase.
Yes, when I spoke to CD they said while all pencils are oil/wax of course, they don't make an oil-based pencil in their products and have no plans to, and that the Pablos were in fact a wax-based pencil. So, more wax than oil
Have you ever tried the Tombow Orojitin pencils? They are also quite hard and hold a point well. Also, the color palette is different from other pencil sets with some beautiful jewel tones.
Have you ever used star joy gold-colored pencils to do hair and skin with? I would like to see some pictures of your work you have done and maybe a video if you have a time. Thank you
Did you ever make that video about how you pick pencils to create a hair color? Or is it still coming? You mentioned wanting to do that in the end of this video. I check your channel and perhaps I overlooked it, but I can’t find it. Thanks in advance.
Would you mind sometime posting color combos of hair with all different sets you have used? I'm bad about picking combos or talk about how to pick colors for combos? I would really appreciate that. Thanks!
When you use colored paper vs. white paper does that make a difference in your color choices? In other words, would you use the same colors with white paper vs. different colored paper?
Beautiful. I wonder if you ever tried coloring hair with Arteza since I heard they hold their point very well. I was thinking it may be a cheap alternative to procolors.
I have, but they are definitely not going to replace Procolour. Procolour is very very hard. Arteza is too waxy and soft and they won't hold the point like a Procolour. Instead, I would go with Black Widow, Polys, or another hard core lead.
Thanks for all the info! I feel like if people are down to Procolour or Black Widow, I would say BW, because you can use them for other coloring too. Those Procolour, while great for hair are soooo hard for coloring anything else. 🙃 Take care!
Do you use a specific kind of tape to connect your short pencils to the backup one or will just any cellaphane tape do? Thx for your help. Enjoy your work immensely.
As a basis for comparison, are Procolour as hard or harder than Crayola classic kid's pencils? I know the comparison is a bit wonky, but... I'm actually looking for a hard pencil set, that's a decent quality. Do the Procolour still sharpen easily?
I haven't used the Crayolas in a long time and don't have the classic ones here to even compare to. Procolour are very hard. Honestly, I'd only use them for hair/fur detailing. For other coloring, they are very very difficult to work with. They do sharpen really well and rarely break.
@@ColorfullyOptimistic Thanks. Very hard is actually exactly what I'm looking for. With my bad hand, even Polychromos are too soft for details. But, I'm stuck with coloring as my only hobby. I'd have to save for a very long time for these, though.
I'm very sorry to hear that. This is the first time anyone has ever said that to me, and honestly, I do talk a lot with my hands, but that's because you don't see my face, but I'm kind of confused about moving my hands too much. I was displaying pencils and showing images, and I have to move my hands to do that. Either way, sorry to hear this.
Coloring hair intimidates me. But once I brave up to do it. I’m so using your tutorials for help!
You just have to dive in and start :). Back in the day my hair wasn't pretty and I still have so much to improve now!

@@filmicplays7219 Mariola Budek's images are great. She even has her hair inspiration books that are just all hair and great for practice.
This is the video I was looking for! I've recently been into the realistic hair and I needed best pencil recommendations for it. Thanks!

Yes! They could totally work for that.
Awesome video I just purchased all mariola's hair pictures the only pencils you mentioned I don't have Derwent pro color I'm going to have to order them tyfs.
Yes, her hair inspirations are some of my favorite. Very little skin to color and ALL HAIR haha
Really informative. Added pro color to my wishlist. LOL
Glad it helped! Yes, they're a great one to work with for hair.
Great video one of my goals this year is to use my pencils more thank u for sharing hun can't wait to get colouring x
Oh yes, use those up! Find which work best for you doing hair or whatever you enjoy coloring.
Great video thank you !
You are welcome!
Loved this, my pro colour are arriving on Tuesday!
Oooh that will be fun!
Thank you so much! Learning slowly!! All these pencils have such different personalities!! Who knew?
Yes they all act very differently but great ranges and endless possibilities
Helpful video! I enjoyed seeing your work. Lovely. 🙋💜
Awe ty so much
Beautiful collection ❤️ hi it's new friend here keep it up stay blessed and connected 👍
Awe ty so much and welcome to the channel!

Oh gosh woman. The only layering you see from me is skin and then flicking in for hair. Outside of that, I avoid haha.

Thanks for sharing beautiful work you do. Thank you can't wait just need pencils. Lol
Start with a cheaper set and work your way to more expensive.

I have one set and thought of trying them for hair

I don't think I have, but I might be able to create some tutorials for sure.
I have half of these sets. Pablos are next, I think. So I don't have any excuse to avoid doing hair...
LOL. The pablos are really nice for hair. In this week's WIP Wednesday I was using them.

I haven't yet, but I definitely need to. It is on my list.
@@ColorfullyOptimistic Looking forward to it

Yes I did mention in this video that I plan to create more how to videos including how to pick colors, combos, etc
@@ColorfullyOptimistic thanks I must have missed that.
I love those pencil case organizers. Where did you get them?
They're all on Amazon. amzn.to/3HK5cBp this is one of my favorite brands
When you use colored paper vs. white paper does that make a difference in your color choices? In other words, would you use the same colors with white paper vs. different colored paper?
Nope. Not really. I use the same colors. They will just look different on the two papers but I still use my same favorite colors

Yes good point. I wish it was easier to get BW open stock
