Of all the videos Ive seen, this is the only one that has shown the various methods of keeping a wig on, and how to take it off. Absolutely briliant video. I dont wear a wig yet, but I need to. I just wear a Beanie everywhere. That being said, I virtually never leave the house. Am still in denial and havent decided on a shape or colour, either. I have a small head, kids size. Its all a bit overwhelming for me at present.

Ah ha! I'm not the only one with a flat head! Let me guess: you have never been able to wear the fabric headbands that are made in one continuous loop! I have always felt like I'm weird and deprived because of this? 😭 Fantastic tutorial! I have never thought of that trick with making a low ”wide” bun. Trying this one! Most of the time I make a flat bun with flat clips closer to the crown because I always have empty space up there in my wigs and it helps me fill that out. Thanks so much! Learned a lot!
Yes! I have such a hard time with them! I always have to use little clips to hold it down in the back. So frustrating too because those are great to cover hair loss with your hair up!

I actually have had success with a heavy duty double sided craft tape that I had on hand...lol. Didn't have the walkers and thought I would try using what I had on hand and it worked great. Stayed stuck all day here in Florida. I used alcohol to remove it also and let me tell you that stuff was hard to get off my head - I actually started having a panic attack because I couldn't get the taped wig off my head. Pretty funny! A little persistence and all came off with no damage to the wig! Thanks for the video!
Would this work for the nape of the wig. I have big issues w my wigs sliding up the back of my head. I've been using a wig grip but it also slides up so.. idk what to do as a grandmother.. im just kind of lost..
Hi Trish, your video was so informative. I’ve not been wearing wigs too long but this has been just what I needed to know about getting my wig to be secure. I started wearing wigs just before the pandemic and I found so many ways to secure my wig that weren’t as helpful as yours. For straight hair line, do I put just one small piece of tape? Also do I need to rinse the alcohol out? Sorry for all the questions but I love ❤️ how you talk to us. Thank you so very much.
No worries! You can use as much tape as makes you feel secure. And no I've never rinsed the alcohol. It evaporates. I just wash my wigs and toppers like normal.
My head is relatively flat in the back. I did not realize that this was a problem until I tried a wig grip. The wig stuck to the wig grip but the wig grip would not stay on my head. And at the time I did not realize what the problem was. I have been pulling my bio hair up on top. now I make a ponytail right at the base of my head and that secures both the wig grip from riding up as well as The wig. Thank you ever so
I have to make 3 small ponytails across the bottom of my hairline in order for my wig to stay down! The wig hooks over the area where the ponytail holders attach. BUT, I have a large enough widows peak that I have to pull my wig lower in the front which gives me a small forehead. I haven’t found a solution.

Trista, I have a flat occipital bone & I have the hair loss also on top but my hair has grown out enough (from shaving my head), to make a low pony, but I feel like ppl can see the “bump” on my straight, light blonde, low density wigs. I’m Terrible using the tape. I seem to get it all bungled in my fingers before I put it on, I prob need to do my wig 1st, I didn’t think about that. I’m having trouble with mine riding up in the back. The wig grip won’t stay in place. My hair is too short for a low ponytail and I have a flat occipital bone as well. Did you get any help in resolving this issue?
@@qltygrl3187 I didn’t get a reply here but on another channel I watch, Wig Talk Wednesday on here, (u should look them up, they’re so funny, so relatable, post every wed & always reply Bck; if u catch it when it comes on, they do a live chat for questions right then as well. They suggested the Milano wig grip. I’d tried so many other, cheaper brands but never this particular one, but they swear by it. So I went onto Amazon & read lots of comments & ppl were raving abt it too. So I got a few & wow, it really stays on w/no slipping! It’s thin so it’s not very hot & they have one that has lace at the top where ur part in ur wig is ( really helpful w/the moon tops & if it shows through & doesn’t have permatease, which the majority of mine do not. They are more pricey, but this 1 I’ve been wearing washes very well & I wear it all the time for the past 5 months. It hasn’t stretched out or lost its’ grip at all. It is so much more secure than any other wig grip I’ve ever tried. When I wash it I do fasten the Velcro together and put it in a garment bag. I’d give it a try. It helped me feel confident in my wigs again…they’re not coming off w/this Milano wig grip on. Hope this helps!☺️

Thanks for this video, it is very informative! My difficulty is with my ear tab area. My bio hair shows directly under and to the front of the tabs when I lean back or the wind blows. Can I use this tape on the moleskin section of the ear tabs? That’s where I need it to stick down to my actual hair. I have used It Stays, and it only works well on the lace front portion.
I just came across this little Treasure! Great Job Hon! I notice that I never ever get to see the sides of the face and wig fit. Yours would look fine but I'm dealing with a 221/2 Noggin' and didn't find coverage with my first try at with a quality wig. It was hand tied and had full lace ear to ear. Quite a bit of my hair showed on both sides. I couldn't blend because of too much color difference. I really don't want my bio hair to show. Do you think some of it might be the ear to ear lace? Christi doesn't seem to have this Problem (but I never see sides either). I've asked around a week ago, no one has answered me. Interested in your take. 🎀

Did you put your wig grip underneath the bun then? Also, the links for Amazon for the wig grips and wig grip caps don't work. I was hoping to get a wig grip that had a cap attached... Any suggestions?
Great job of explaining. My problem is not only a flat occipital bone but my hair is not thinning it’s just cut short. So how do I secure it with no bun in the back? Another question...is we cut the lace front off so why is it important in the first place? Might be a dumb question but I don’t understand. Does it just make the hairline more “natural”? Trista’s Tresses thank you for responding. I got my wigs in and look ridiculous! 😂🤣. I am that “certain age” at 60 and look stupid in very long hair! I’m naturally brunette but started graying at 25 so I started “frosting” it then went all blonde. In fact it looks better than brunette. I must be realistic and know that at my age very long straight hair looks aging in a way. So I’m going to try a mid length but not as short as I am now...more realistic. I found out I have a larger head than the wigs I got so I need to measure and go in to a professional wig shop and try on different styles and sizes. Thank you for responding. I’ll keep you posted! In the meantime I’ll live vicariously through you until I can get the right wig for me. You look so good in ALL the colors I’ve seen so far! Thank you also for sharing your story. Have you gotten a Luvme wig? They are tight for my flat head and have a thick elastic band and have too much hair. Have you thinned them out? I just got it. I'm 69, too.
I wish I could wear a headband or wrap or even a wig/stocking cap when I wear wigs but my ears are far back and my head is small. Everything slips back and off. It makes me sad. I don’t know what to do, because I would love to wear a wig.
My head is small too - I bought a 'petite' size wig, and use tape on front - as shown here. That stops the slipping back - but not conquered the slipping up from the back yet. I don't have enough hair to use grips and I find them painful. I will try the band as shown here, or placing some tape at the nape. The cap did not work at all for me, it just slips off, mainly from the back. Just keep experimenting with different approaches. Certainly - lace front, and tape has made a world of difference for me.
Tape would be your best bet yes. The red walkers tape is good. You can get it on Amazon. The blue is for lace the red is not. The red is a bit stronger.
I will have to practice with this The tape doesn’t come off too easily on the other side so it’s a little annoying the first part sticks but the other side is hard to peel off. I may have to order the one. You’re using. Looks a little easier Thx for the informative video

I need some clarification. I thought alcohol was bad for synthetic fibers and we shouldn’t use hair care for human hair because it has too much alcohol in many of the products. I’m new to wigs also, and confused about this.

Do you think some of it might be the ear to ear lace? Christi doesn't seem to have this Problem (but I never see sides either). I've asked around a week ago, no one has answered me. Did you put your wig grip underneath the bun then? Also, the links for Amazon for the wig grips and wig grip caps don't work. I was hoping to get a wig grip that had a cap attached... Any suggestions?

Great job of explaining. My problem is not only a flat occipital bone but my hair is not thinning it’s just cut short. So how do I secure it with no bun in the back? Another question...is we cut the lace front off so why is it important in the first place? Might be a dumb question but I don’t understand. Does it just make the hairline more “natural”? Trista’s Tresses thank you for responding. I got my wigs in and look ridiculous! 😂🤣. I am that “certain age” at 60 and look stupid in very long hair! I’m naturally brunette but started graying at 25 so I started “frosting” it then went all blonde. In fact it looks better than brunette. I must be realistic and know that at my age very long straight hair looks aging in a way. So I’m going to try a mid length but not as short as I am now...more realistic. I found out I have a larger head than the wigs I got so I need to measure and go in to a professional wig shop and try on different styles and sizes. Thank you for responding. I’ll keep you posted! In the meantime I’ll live vicariously through you until I can get the right wig for me. You look so good in ALL the colors I’ve seen so far! Thank you also for sharing your story. Have you gotten a Luvme wig? They are tight for my flat head and have a thick elastic band and have too much hair. Have you thinned them out? I just got it. I'm 69, too.
I wish I could wear a headband or wrap or even a wig/stocking cap when I wear wigs but my ears are far back and my head is small. Everything slips back and off. It makes me sad. I don’t know what to do, because I would love to wear a wig.
My head is small too - I bought a 'petite' size wig, and use tape on front - as shown here. That stops the slipping back - but not conquered the slipping up from the back yet. I don't have enough hair to use grips and I find them painful. I will try the band as shown here, or placing some tape at the nape. The cap did not work at all for me, it just slips off, mainly from the back. Just keep experimenting with different approaches. Certainly - lace front, and tape has made a world of difference for me.

Tape would be your best bet yes. The red walkers tape is good. You can get it on Amazon. The blue is for lace the red is not. The red is a bit stronger.
I have a silk lace base topper 6x6 so it looks like my scalp. Does the color show thru?

The tape doesn’t come off too easily on the other side so it’s a little annoying the first part sticks but the other side is hard to peel off. I may have to order the one. You’re using. Looks a little easier

How tight do you make the wig grip?
Pretty snug. You don't want it sliding around. As long as it is secure then you have it tight enough
I need some clarification. I thought alcohol was bad for synthetic fibers and we shouldn’t use hair care for human hair because it has too much alcohol in many of the products. I’m new to wigs also, and confused about this.
