Saw Dave when I was at MI in 91. He arrived in his own Toyota pickup, unloaded his own drums, set them up and answered anyone's questions the whole time...did his clinic and tore his kit down himself and drove away. Coolest, nicest guy ever.
Yeah pretty rare but, so cool…! Saw Weckl at a Oz Noy Gig in Bangkok back in 2017 and man the guy just grooves everything…Been blessed to have seen Jeff Porcaro live back in early 90s and Weckl is up there when it comes to be the ultimate groove meister 👍

DAVE!!! Omg, sooo fluid and silky smooth... what can you say?! finesse, grace, subtlety, feel... ha! and not an easy groove to hold together from top to bottom :)

Wow. Mindblowing. Musically so tight. The way the drum parts played by Dave wrap themselves around the vocals and the bass line and everything else. AMAZING. Nothing but joy watching and listening to it!

It's so good and what's revealing about a master like Mr Weckl is that even though it's a drum camp, it's not played like a drummer's showcase but as a sympathetic musician playing groove and supporting a great song and singer
as a drummer its the best when you're backing a great vocalist and the bass player is totally killing it...the drumming just flows...all feel there....the whole band is great.
There may be drummers now who can watch this and then do a playthrough of it with one hand while taking out the garbage and mowing the lawn. But for my money this is peak drumming here. Elegant and sparkling. Astonishingly musical.
As a metalhead, Dave opened my eyes to different styles of playing when I was in my early 20s. His playing is inspirational, just so dang spicy and fluid. Definitely on my tops list.
Spot on timing , deliberate and crisp sticking and looking so relaxed only comes from years of dedication , hard work and love of the craft . What an privilege to be alive to see this - heartfelt thanks to all the musicians- respect !
Dave has gotten better and better with age. A bit more understated, which I think makes him better. Vinny V is a great guitarist, and the bass and piano players are excellent.
Dave, you absolutely kick ass 100% of the time. I've seen you perform with the late, great Chick Corea a few times and always enjoyed your beautiful playing, musicianship, and great sound.

Not known for his 2 and 4 but it’s Dave Weckl one of the big 3 when it comes to living drummers so you knew it was going to take pop music to a new level and some lovely subtle fills on display.
6 minutes of Dave performing on the kit can turn a bad day into a good one for anyone listening.
Dave's playing has always reminded me of a combo of Bonham, Porcaro, Gordon, Purdie, Smith and Erskine.
