    Johnny, if you ever read this, you made me feel like I was 5 years old when you played babyface. I remember the match you and TC had with FTR on NXT, and one of them grabbed one of the tag belts and hit you in the knee with it. I just knew they were going to slap a Figure Four on you and make you tap out, and I couldn't look. Then you made the comeback and I marked out big time. I can't wait till you're back in the ring!

    This is a great interview. Didn't expect 15 minutes of baby talk, enjoyed that. Didn't expect a deep dive into insecurity and existential meaning, but appreciated that greatly. Love the honesty from Johnny

    Watching NXT Takeover Brooklyn where 15k WWE fans popped for Jushin Thunder Liger (a 50 year old fmr WCW and NJPW wrestler making his WWE debut) was awesome. It's like NXT really knew their audience and was pushing to steal the week everytime they worked. I love going back to watch those days, such positive energy.

      I was there in person for that Takeover. Amid so much of my disdain for the wrestling business, NXT Takeover shows, both in person and on TV, really kept my interest in it strong. The Black & Gold period was so amazing.

    I had similar experiences as a father during the birth of my 3 children. Body dysmorphia must be especially challenging when your position in a company and livelihood can be influenced by the way you look. I can relate to feeling at my most self conscious at a time I looked at my best. Have to focus more on the positives, of which there are so many for you Johnny. So much more to wellness than aesthetics and it makes training much more awesome. Rooting for you. Great interview Renee.

    Johny is fantastic. My favourite NXT moment is him winning the NXT Championship. I’m really happy for him right now, he seems like he is enjoying life. I don’t know when Ciampa’s contract is up but if we got DIY in the AEW Tag Division that would be fantastic. I don’t know if Johny fits right now in the main event scene in AEW and he is a guy who shouldn’t be treated like a small act so honestly, maybe he becomes the face of the ROH reboot if Ciampa isn’t coming in (I could see Ciampa joining Edge’s faction on Raw)

    • @RedShadowOfSaturn
      @RedShadowOfSaturn 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Which is just as good. I remember anticipating his arrival on Raw or Smackdown, hoping he'd be the next Daniel Bryan, but at this point...even if he re-signed with WWE and they sent him right to the main roster(s), he'd be buried hard. AEW would give him a decent spot, and even if Dynamite or Rampage were a bit crowded, Ring of Honor would be a PERFECT place for him. Gargano has a ton of amazing matches he could put on against ROH talent, old and new.

    • @Real_STKO
      @Real_STKO 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RedShadowOfSaturn i get why people are so quick to assume he'll be buried considering how literally almost everyone does. I just feel like Gargano is different. I know his size isn't sexy to Vince but I truly think he'd reach great success

    • @RedShadowOfSaturn
      @RedShadowOfSaturn 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Real_STKO Same! And I agree, I understand that he's a small guy and folks like Cornette and Vince see him as another "vanilla indie midget." Not every small guy can be a Cinderella story of overcoming an industry of bigger competitors and have it always be compelling, but...Johnny has a healthy following. For a promotion to ignore that and pass on pushing him seems wasteful.
      Would it be great for him to pop back up on Raw or Smackdown, win the Royal Rumble and main event Wrestlemania 39? Absolutely, the guy totally deserves it. Probably won't happen, though. So in that case...I'd rather seem be the Joker in a Casino Royale in AEW and win a world title there next year, or...debut in Ring of Honor, Johnny Wrestling would absolutely kill it in ROH, no doubt.
