What a terrific personality he has, never afraid of hard work, never ducked a challenge in his career, worked for some of the best coaches/managers in European football
Years back, me and a few mates went on a pre-season game at Turf Moor, and Burnley were woeful. My mate said something like, "Every player on this pitch is sh*te except for Kieran Trippier," at which point, a bloke in front of us turned around and said, "I'm glad you said that, because he's my son." We all pissed ourselves.
Tripper is quality, only played 28 prem games last season due to injury, still got 10 assists - joint 3rd most. Has been solid for years, but a handful of bad games is what people remember.
The part when he said he left city to play more football, while others stayed to get paid more, showed he has a good mindset. Not enough like him these days.
I think that it’s a little bit too generalized to make such a declarative statement which implies that every single player at city only values the wage that they’re making, and that there aren’t possibly players there that were able to maximize their playing time and feel like it was the best place for them career wise, regardless of how much they’re making. He seems like a pretty good guy in general and pretty grounded so I feel like a comment like that is a little petty and obviously shows that there are still some personal underlying feelings that he has about the club or about his experience there that are causing him to be a little biased, which is fair based on his experience which you can’t change and you have a right to feel a certain way about- but doesn’t make it actually objectively true or a good balanced and accurate perception of the situation or the people involved in general.
was gutting how tripps left the way he did. what a professional and always a reliable player. played for incredible managers and been on the biggest stages, but still is so humble. massive respect to him
Total respect for Trippier ! Great interview ! Typical of United (Manchester) not to have followed up and signed him ! He's a local lad and mad red, I worked with one of his mates for a few years and knew he liked a few pints back in the day !
So much love and respect for Tripps, he has been massive for Newcastle and arguably one of the most significant signings in recent history. Incredible player and seemingly a top character as well.
Tripps is a nice person according to this interview. Let’s hope his career is long and successful. As a Spurs supporter I miss him but anyone has to improve wherever that maybe.
@AManCalledDutch the last time I checked English is a nation. What qualifies one as English? Was John Barnes English? If so, what's your point and if not, why did he play for England?
If we let Wan Bissaka go he could be a useful option alongside Dalot. Depends what his contract situation is like. MUFC need his kind of experience in the squad though with some of the players we have leaving.
Loved Trippier at Tottenham, knew he would be a loss. Credit to him for going to Spain and learning even more. He has matured immeasurably since being at Newcastle. Superb professional
What an inspiration for young players, we must keep him at NUFC as part of coaching staff wealth of knowledge and experience and leadership qualities he is true northern lad
In another universe Trippier joins United as a kid and ends up making more appearances than Gary for the club. It should have happened but nice to hear his love for United. What a decent guy aswell.
Both lads from Bury. Total respect for a player willing to drop money or a league to play. Interesting to watch his body language get defensive when starting to talk about Newcastle. Arms folded, touching his nose, shuffling in his seat…Wonder what he’s not saying.
Looks like he might be away this summer, but I don't think I've seen a player make so much of an impact. Can never underestimate the importance of a seasoned pro.
Gotta love fashion, walking advertisement for Dior, cost a fortune, made in China for peanuts. Take nothing away from the lad, very articulate and a great interview
Did anyone notice when he was talking about Utd Gary asked him what happened did it fall a way last minute tripper no it’s just fell way so Gary was right hahaha 9:47

Agreed, he's clearly an intelligent, respectful person and an excellent pro.

Glad he made that move to Spain. Won silverware and enjoyed a different culture.
I am as well.
I am too
Comes across as a top bloke. Down to earth, articulate and professional
Watching him play for Burnley it was clear he was capable of playing at the highest level. Proud of him being a local lad to me.
good old Bury
Made such a difference playing for the Toon. Tremendous right back and leader in the pitch.
1:02 - the way trippier smiles when gary mentions valencia 😂
Held it down 😂
He literally didn't react in the slightest 🤦♂
@@bagpussmacfarlan9008 he did xD😆

Tripper and Gordon have done Newcastle really proud on this series 🖤🤍
So proud to have him at my club, he hasn’t had the best of seasons but he is still incredible
he still had the same assists as last year that's my captain he will be back better next year
He’s a quality player. Not had the best season like you said but he’ll get back to his best i’m sure.
He’s leaving this summer
He's lost his spot now. Which was probably always the plan. He got the ball rolling and now we can build because of his trust and respect
Top lad but probably on the slide now

The man is pure quality and will no doubt go down as one of our best fullbacks in recent years. Up there with legends like James Perch.
Needs to be added to the Toon coaching staff when he stops playing
What a great guy. Comes across so down to earth and respectful. Love that he mentions playing for the love of the game.. Unlike *coughs* some of them!
Would loved him to have joined United, great player & leader, top man.
Class player and comes across as a decent bloke

I look forward to watching him coach, a wonderful person, and much luck.
I think he is the best player at the back for us at the minute 💯, seems like a good man really good player and great professional 👏
When Dyche says he doesn’t have favourites except Kieran Trippier, you know he’s a good lad
One of Newcastles best ever signings, brilliant off the pitch as well as on 👍🏻
Great to see a proud northerner giving some love to London.
Why 😂
@Wrigsterr too much north/south hate. You people need to understand you're all British, or English if you want to go by the nations.
@@da_great_mogulmost people in London aren’t English 😂

Intelligent, thoughtful and so relatable. Well done, Kieran!
United missed out on this one. Seems like a great lad both on and off the pitch, and quality player

We were bloody lucky to get him as captain ..howay
A true professional dedicated footballer good luck in the Euro's you deserve something for that.
What a player, will go down in history at nufc for what he’s done. The catalyst signing. Legend
I have no qualms him playing left back with shaw not available ! The guys a solid pro!
Enjoyed this interview. Seems a good, honest lad
Really enjoyed this one. Just a great down to earth chat
Glad you enjoyed it 🤝
miss trips at spurs very talented player and a lovely bloke
Would’ve loved him at Man United. So poor that we couldn’t complete that deal.
With his focus and dedication, as well as his demeanor, I can see him being a decent manager in the future, tbh.
What an inspiration for young players, we must keep him at NUFC as part of coaching staff wealth of knowledge and experience and leadership qualities he is true northern lad
Trippier has a mature and balanced personality with a strong and tough winning mentality. Characteristic of a Good Leader.
AúpAtléti !
What a great lad, I hope he’s successful in his ambitions 👏👏👏👏
What a gent.
Excellent insight

absolutely loved him at Burnley
Both the Newcastle lads you've had on been really impressed with
One of the best players we’ve ever had at the toon
Great interview
Dalot has been phenomenal. He needed that space to grow, but this lad is man United mentality. Respect!

Top player right there
he’ll be a class coach
Trippier is very likeable ngl.
Brilliant guy. Top professional
I'm sure Trippier appreciated the free advice from Neville to do his coaching badges as soon as possible. He looks thrilled by the guidance.
Players like him u need around the squad training ground 💯
I thought you said it was Luis Enrique that didn't shake your hand gary 🤔

Seems like a solid bloke. Would have been great to have in the United dressing room, not sure what happened there?
theres a longer interview on high performance podcast
Need a Mourinho episode
wtf??? You are telling me Tripper was willing and available to sign for Manchester United and someone thought is wasn't a good idea.
Nice bloke.
Get Chris Smalling on Neville !
Sounds like nobody shook Gary’s hand in Spain
I think with Gary and the overlap they never mention about players careers lasting longer .
United missed out! Top lad.
This is a Family Reunion 😅
Why did they re upload the video??
There was a clip where trippier made a nasty dig about Southgate
I miss that atleti team
Ngl Tripps would be fantastic at United
