7 months ago i was introduced to homestar runner and fell in love with it. a couple weekends ago i cosplayed Homestar and i started chatting with someone who grew up with homestar runner, and when they asked me how i got into it i just said that a streamer i liked showed it off. the next day i cosplayed the red and blue gnome with my friend, and that exact same person recognized me and my friend by calling out "how's your cigarette meter?". i was just shocked at how much of a small world it is that one of the few people who recognized me as homestar is also a wayner fan. i only wish they saw me the next day because i cosplayed benry and im sure we would have gotten into another conversation about homestar runner or da rtvs crew
Something so nice and adorable seeing wayne watching funny videos from his childhood and lauging so hard. As they said on the podcast, great to see something that's quality didint go away with age. Never grew up with homestar so its cool to see the community around it still go so strong after all these years.
It was awesome to see Wayne bring the time-honored tradition of "watching a million homestar toons in a row with your friends" to his chat! I did grow up doing this exact thing & this stream captured it so perfectly. It seems like it really got the vibe and the appeal across to a ton of people who weren't There in the 2000s, which is so cool.
Despite being a 2006 baby my parents made sure to raise me on everything hsr so I can quote soooo many emails, shorts, and comics. I even have the dumb telltale game on steam!
I'd be very on board for annual streams where RTVS just watches internet stuff. I know it'd be low effort, and similar to some stream-stuff team members are already doing, but this was a real hoot.
The collective shock Wayne, Mira, and the chat all had to the pseudo-origin of the “doge” meme was hilarious to me! 😂 Also, re-watching all these cartoons unlocked some happy memories for me. Here’s hoping there will be another “Homestar Runner” stream in the future!

This brings back memories of watching flash cartoons on the computer at school in the early 2000s. In addition to Homestar Runner, we also watched a lot of Joe Cartoon: a series that has definitely NOT aged as gracefully.
my dad also showed me homestar runner when i was like 11 or 12 but the combination of having access to minecraft and not knowing how to navigate the homestar website led to me only ever really looking at it a couple times specifically the first thing my dad showed me was Homestar Talker and i didnt know what the fuck goin on
When new sb emails came out, I would hold down the tab key and see all the clickable words as the email typed. Some of those secret links went places. Like I think one girl teen squad had a whole episode that you could only watch from the secret links
