This reminds me so much of Capt. Beefheart (RIP). Is there such a thing as lyrical atonalism - that's how this strikes me. After a five year hiatus I've returned to the guitar (Washburn J600-sweet git), and this music both scares the hell out of me and yet at the same time inspires me. Go figure.
