A few reviewers were complaining that the car is so similar to ICE cars, for example with the weak regenerative braking. But so many people will have a better time getting used to it if it doesn't force people to relearn everything. If they now get rid of those stupid touch sensitive buttons and scroll bars, we have a good car for the masses.

Opinions like this from people either afraid of technology, or who dislike it, are invaluable imo. I’m a software developer myself, but although I’m *comfortable* with technology, I generally don’t *like* it, usually precisely because the people who designed it didn’t think about people like Cindy. They design for other nerds, focusing on what’s easiest for them to implement, not what will make the user’s life simpler.
Technology should *simplify* things, not make them more complicated. Take charging apps as an example: why do they even EXIST?! This is one thing Tesla got absolutely correct with their charging network: park up, plug the car in, and it starts charging right away. This is how it *should* be for all EVs, and it’s shameful that it isn’t. My car should have my credit/debit card details registered when I buy it, and be able to provide the necessary information to the charge point, and I should never have to think about apps or RFID tags or whatever other nonsense again until my card expires.

@@abraxastulammo9940 the transaction fees for credit cards are high. And everyone has a debit card included with his or her bank account.
In the US it's almost the other way around.
But in Europe many people have a few credit cards - but it's true, some don't have a single one. Some refuse it as unnecessary ballast, because nearly everything works without the need of a credit card - and a credit card costs extra money, the card can be lost, the card has its own PIN, which should be remembered, it's another thing of technology (look at the video), which is not necessary for many in Europe.
      That's the reason why.
It's more a thing of which was first - and the people like this first more than the other thing. The one is mandatory, the other is a nice extra. And the one is a credit card in the US and the one thing in Europe is a debit card which comes with the bank account.

Completely disagree, I work in it and find ease if use at night whilst driving has to be given more a priority, the touch buttons are no good for people with nerve damage /cts as it doesn’t register all Inputs second the design for menu features such as heat are buried below submenus are a poor design, if skoda can do it why do vw stick fast with something a number of people have, talking to the car to set heating instead of a physical button just seems daft, the same goes for the window controls from the driver, why remove the two rear window switches yet include it with other upcoming Id models shows this is a big issue to drivers so why not retool now to fix this, the same for the poor design door pockets that aren’t finished so stuff disappears into the door, and anyone with big hands struggles to remove it, already I know this is going to ve a magnet to paper tissues and sweet wrappers

People shouldn't have put effort in understanding the tech in a car, if you have to figure it out is too complex. That is why regular buttons are superior over touchscreen, unfortunately a touchscreen is a very easy way to cut costs. but it is not user friendly.

She points out exactly what auto journalists have been saying for ages: Use normal tactile buttons and knobs for basic stuff like heating and drive modes. Reserve the touchscreen for infotainment and more advanced setup. Also quit with piano black. White interior?.. time will tell. It is perfectly possible to make white plastics that stay white. Depends on the chemistry. If it's made in China by the lowest bidder it will be yellow within two years.

I’m short as well, that’s why I need to test drive any car I’m interested in. Some huge cars are perfectly fine for shortish people, some small cars, on the other hand, aren’t. For me, one of the problems is reaching the pedals 🤦🏾‍♀️ So thanks for your take on the ID.3, Cindy.

The pillow is in the wrong place. She definitely is extra small :) The pillow should be taller and go behind her back, so that the seat length would not interfere with her legs. Well, if the seat doesnt go high enough then of course she needs one below too.

It is good to hear the perspective of someone, who let's face it - is not geeking out over electric cars. Living with an EV does take getting used to, and you need new habits. But it won't take long - and you'll wonder why you didn't do it a lot sooner!
Once you drive electric - you'll never want to go back to an ICE.

@@tymanot Right, and the i3 has good seat heaters. The Leaf is okay, and the rear seat of our Bolt is decent, but the front seats in our Bolt EV Premier (leather seats) are quite weak, and don't cover very much area.

Loved the video! Your wife is wonderfully straightforward. About the car, I considered buying it, but settled on the Tesla model 3 instead. One issue I had with the Id3 was the tablet, which looks a bit “fisher pricey” especially when it’s in white. but more importantly, what made my mind up was Tesla’s charging network. Keep up the good work!

    • @geneshifter

The Tesla network is the main reason we are going Tesla. Here in Texas around Dallas, the other vendors are too unreliable. It's a bummer.

Again proving that cars aren't built for women. We need more female engineers, the length of the seat is something that can easily be designed as adjustable.
