  • Well, we finally got the Coyote to its new home in PEI. It took a little longer than we wanted due to weather but it all worked out great in the end.

    Cruise: 85-90 MPH

That was some really awesome looking scenery and a great ride-a-long. That is a pretty decent trip for an ultralight and i'm sure the tailwind was much appreciated.

@@mmatt I just finished the installation and break in of the new rings today. After it has been off the plane for about five months and I finally got around to putting new base gaskets on it. Plus new rings and a de-carbon while I had her all disassembled. So I'm hoping to get some flying in and do something fun next weekend! Finally....

...Kind of sorry the trip wasn't longer.....Had my Ercoupe ferried from sault Ste. Marie to Chilliwack, B.C. when I moved back west....I had to trailer a sailboat full of belongings, so I missed that chance to fly across....I was surprised he flew into the USA to go south of Lake Superior, but, to each his own I guess....(1979)....

    Born and raised Islander here.
For those unfamiliar with Summerside Airport, it used to be Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Summerside until it closed in 1991 due to federal budget cuts. It opened as an air station back in 1941 and was training Commonwealth air force pilots until the end of the war.
I remember going to amazing airshows here when i was a kid back in the 80’s. When it closed I think there were 2 different squadrons operating at the time: the 880 Maritime Reconnaissance Sqn ( The Bear Cats); and the 413 Transport and Rescue Sqn (Tusker). They performed SAR duties for the Maritime provinces.

Great videos! I felt I was riding along with you. Back in 1992 i made a similar trip from Quebec city to Bay d' Espoir, Newfoundland. It was a 13hr total air time flight in my newly purchased Aeronca Chief( partly due to an unscheduled stop in Stephenville.) Before flying across the gulf, I tented under the wing in Port Hawksbury. A local pilot saw me fly over and assuming correctly I was going to land, came out and took me out to a local eatery before my leg the next morning.
It was the trip of a lifetime! As I began the long journey over the water, I kept telling myself St. Pauls Island was a landing spot. Navigation was map and compass in additional to an unreliable loran C. For that section I climbed to 8500' I kept telling myself the engine does not know it is over water!

Familiar sights. Spent a week in Summerside in July in my RV-9A. Was parked in the big hangar at the arrival end of 23 and did a few local sightseeing trips in the area. My arrival was direct from Fredericton (customs stop, trip was from Alberta) and I had 1800' ceilings for the whole leg except it was clear over the strait. Apart from the wind, I liked the CYSU airport. That big 200' wide runway takes some getting used to. Great video.
