This is very traditional, enticing and reflects more of the cultures of the people of South Sudan. Brings into memory the richness of the traditional culture that is embedded in the people's culture in South Sudan. Also reminds me in particular of the bye gone days of my venture and journey into Uganda attracted by................. Oh, yes those beautiful moments
Albert Cliff doesn’t matter, we all dance the same. I’m acholi from South Sudan and I understand can dance like them. Northern Uganda or South Sudan acholi are the same.
Sweet, Sweet, Sweet! I wonder if Oprah Winifred show this one. I think it was adapted from "Awili Mother is calling you". Awili is a beautiful girl who is very popular in an Acholi (Luo?) fairy tale. Man this one is really very good, no words good enough to describe it. Long live Uganda, Long Live Africa and Long live all people of good will.
Thank you very much my brother Yes You are spot on. I adopted it from "Awili ye Maa olwonggi ka coo do, TILOKOK. Coo ne nyinggi angagi TILOKOK" These are Acoli Heartbeat dancers in Uganda! Dr Phoebe Abe MBCh MSc FRSA General Practitioner in UK
The thing I miss most is the female ULULATION -otherwise called KIJIRA. Listen for it at 0.17-0.21 sec. All black women should learn and perfect it.I see some Arab Egyptian women (our replacement in our ancient land) do it by sticking their tongue in and out - not very sightly but still achieve the result. They imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I was in a meeting of Africans in diaspora and after the African anthem, a sister Turkana whispered a Kijira near me - I was homesick. Imagine if after Obama's election some black sister yelled a sweet Kijira like the ones in this song!!
My Brother Thank you so much. I can make that ULULATION {Angeyo GOYO KIJIRA}. And believe me, whenever my children are graduating and being handed over their degrees I just 'GOYO KIJIRA'. Someone of them get a bit embarrassed. Even in English Public schools I would do that. And one day one of them had to warn the Headmaster ahead of the ceremony that ' MY MOTHER MAY BE MAKING SOME ACOLI NOISE WHEN I COME TO GET MY PRESENT' They were all prepared to hear it. Then I did not do it. And this child asked me: "Mummy, what happened? You did not make the the Acoli noise. Why?" "I will tell you the reason later when I take you home for holidays" Dr Phoebe Abe [The Singer I personally wrote this song and all the voice there are mine...................From Acoli Tekwaro...'Awili ye Maa Lwongi ka coo do' Mobile: +44782 477 4929
Dear Dr. The first time I listened to your song the first time, I kapt thinking of the odo odo from which this song derives. I believe that some of the "asoli" in diaspora will acquire ANIMATION skills and document this odo do - the elephants, the lalurs etc showing up for the hand of Awili in marriage. But thanks for the dancers and KIJIRA. One day I will surely open a school for drumming, kijira etc. Kijira is an art form and the purest sound from a human voice. Keep the beat going sister!!
Great song but I am surprised that only Oprah is told to make Hakim happy but Hakim has no such instruction to make Oprah happy. Co myero cak gwoko mon to aber dang.
Dear Thank you If you follow the song carefully The Mother really had to give in knowing Akim was not going to do anything for her daughter Oprah. There were good 'suitors' that the family thought would make everything good for Oprah. It is therefore up to Akim to PROVE to the family that he will and must make Oprah happy. Hence Mother is dumbfounded to tell him that. Did you hear how many men came to beg Oprah's mother to ask for her hand?: Elephant, Turtle, Okwongagi, Bolt....... and so on and so on. And she goes and chooses the 'unknown' AKIM!
you get Luo is nKenya. I think they are from South Sudan region. They are not classified as Bantu, but are know as decedents front the Nilotic peoples.

Oyirwoth Steve ...GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS! WHAT AMAZING GRACE HOW SWEET THE SOUND! AFTER ALL THOSE SUFFERINGS THEY ARE STILL SO STRONG! DANCING TO ENTERTAIN AND AMUSE US! WII LOBO!
We are all Luo my brother. Here are some words to prove our oneness. Bel=sorghum, kal=millet, ber=good, well, cham/cam=to eat, consume, dano=man, human being, wang=eye, wic/wich=head, mac/mach=fire
Bro that's nuer. Bel,kal, ber(music wise is the same) cam, wang, wic, and mach are all accurately correct in nuer. but Dano is "ran" in nuer which is the only difference in the list above.
Changkuoth Kueth I am quite amazed. We are all relatives from the same civilizations which were in Egypt and the Sudan. I think Nuer are Luo or closely related to Luo.
thats a nice video also for those who say whites r racist.I mean by that that all ppl like nice things and dislike ugly things As u can see there r no racist comments or dislikes bcoz its nice

Akim was Oprah's choice of husband, so she was probably happy with Akim, after she refused all those other men for Akim
The adungu sound is amazing
you get Luo is nKenya. I think they are from South Sudan region. They are not classified as Bantu, but are know as decedents front the Nilotic peoples.
Maybe you don't know but they are actually part of the Luo nations. The Luo are found in six countries. Wikipedia can explain it better.
