I hiked up to the causeway years ago, got partway across and seized up. I basically crawled off of it. 😂 But I’m from Ohio and live in the flatlands, so I was more than a little out of my element. Great to see it again!
That looks dope! I love the steamboat area. I did the Four Pass loop a couple years ago and that was incredible. You should check out the Lost Creek Wilderness loop, it’s a pretty intense backpacking loop near FairPlay.
@@TheVirtualsherpa Ya the part where you climb through the canyon was tough, especially with a backpacking bag. Definitely not a walk in the park haha, 100% worth it though.
Looks like a super sick loop. Do you have any favorites closer to the front range that are runnable like this? More so near Boulder, Nederland, Estes, etc area??
Nice video. I dont think I can cross the Devils Causeway. A little too much exposure for me. I love the Flattops. Some good backpacking to fishing lakes up there.

A lot of folks carry some iodine tablets as a backup water purification tool--might be worth carrying as a backup.
I have been to the Devil's Causeway. 12 years ago. Good to see a video on the place.
The Flat Tops is my favorite place for hiking and back country adventures (I live in Craig). I really enjoyed this video! Thank you.
Gonna backpack with my cousin in fall, hoping for changing leaves! Thanks as always for your videos and trail guides.
Awesome!! This was on my list for when i visit Colorado in August. Great timing.
Thank you Virtual Sherpa! Will definitely be adding this one (or at least the causeway) to the list!
My best friend and I have camped at Trappers Lake in June the last two years! Such a gorgeous area!
Def a blind spot in the state for me but will have to get back there soon, so stunning especially with the flowers popping!
Always a good day when TVS post a vid!
I'll look for your water filter when i come back.. Lance from Texas 🕵️
It was in my vest the entire time 😂🙃
I did the Devil’s Causeway Loop decades ago… two days backpacking 😐
Another banger!

I actually just ran this a few weeks ago, just didn't film. TOUGH day out there.

I’m about to go ride causeway bowl I live like 40
Mins out
Great vid, man! What are you training for?
Still thought the angles were dope!
Hope you still bring an sos device
Would never leave home without one
Exactly when in July was this?
Backpacking in this area next week and seemed like you ran into pretty little snow!
I'm going to be tail-riding all your trail-runs for ultra training and not have to do intensive research lol
Drone shots in the beginning are great. Why no drone shots of you on the causeway?
Wilderness area, no flying.
Any recommendations on bug repellent or ?
Heavy on deet

Fishing must be amazing up there with all the water
Came back to say I did it yesterday! It scared the crap out of me but I made it! Lol. That's the most exposure I have had like that on both sides.
