Salem’s Lot is awesome. I’m rereading it right now and it’s the best horror book ever. Don’t have a lot of hope for the upcoming adaptation because of some of the poor casting choices and no marketing. If I knew how to make a movie, I would adapt Salem’s Lot myself.
You have a very good list! I agree with a lot of your bottom choices and a lot of your top choices, but of course we disagree on some. I’m always glad to see people enjoying the dead zone as much as I do. Great video!
Good on you dude! I don’t think I could ever do this type of list. I can tell you a couple books I don’t like and a couple I love, but I would go crazy trying to rank them all! Lol And how can I even call myself a constant reader when I have yet to read The Dead Zone or 11/22/63!
Here is my list so far. I have excluded Night Shift, Bazaar of Bad Dreams, Different Seasons, and Four Past Midnight because it is too hard for me to rank collections among novels. 33 - Lisey's Story 32 - Elevation 31 - Doctor Sleep 30 - Cell 29 - Christine 28 - The Running Man 27 - Billy Summers 26 - Gwendy's Button Box 25 - Finders Keepers 24 - Later 23 - Bag of Bones 22 - The Regulators 21 - Misery (I know this is fantastic, but I had seen the movie so many times since I was a kid that it compromised the suspense and thrill of the book) 20 - Carrie 19 - The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon 18 - Hearts In Atlantis 17 - The Long Walk 16 - The Dead Zone 15 - 11/22/63 14 - Mr. Mercedes 13 - The Institute 12 - Firestarter 11 - Rose Madder 10 - The Stand 9 - Duma Key 8 - Desperation 7 - Cujo 6 - Needful Things 5 - Pet Sematary 4 - The Shining 3 - Under the Dome 2 - Salem's Lot 1 - It
Love your list. I've only read 35 King books. The one issue I have with a couple of his books is that at the ending, the Big Baddie is always a spider,or spidery like creature. It seems like such a cop out. I think I'll check out Salem's lot now after your review.
Yeah that’s understandable. He has a few books with a spider like creature at the end haha! Also that’s awesome that you’re checking out Salems Lot after my review! Thanks so much!
So strange how these rankings can differ. I loved The Stand, Pet Sematary, and IT but I thought Salem's Lot was very dull. Currently a third through 11 22 63, and enjoying it very much.
11.22.63 is great! Salem's Lot I can understand finding dull if you aren't invested in the characters and the story of the town, but I loved everything about it.
To me King is at his best writing short stories. I'd rate The Night Shift, Skeleton Crew and Nightmares And Dreamscapes pretty high in my favorite books ever. As for novels I wouldn't rate many as highly as that except for The Wind Through The Keyhole. Though it's been 2-3 decades since I've read some of them and can't really say for certain. Salem's Lot for instance I read when I was 13 (I'm 44 now) and couldn't say whether or not I agreed with you. I've watched the 1979 and 2004 mini-series many times so I know the basic story pretty well still but can't remember much about how I felt about the book. I do know that I consider Under The Dome one of the worst books I've ever read in my life, a great premise ruined by awful characters behaving stupidly. It was so bad I couldn't bring myself to read another one of his books for like 5 years. The latest one I read was Fairy Tale which was okay but I expected a richer fantasy world considering this is the guy who wrote the Dark Tower books.
Hi mate, fellow SK fan from across the ditch here. Pretty interesting list, was particularly surprised to see The Shining so low and Revival so high. I've read everything he has ever published (except Rage). Would be keen to know if you have read any of his other works since making this video (e.g. Dolores Claiborne, Joyland, Dreamcatcher, The Tommyknockers) and where they would rank. Cheers.
Hey, I’ve been slowing up with reading the past year (been really busy with school) but I do have a more recent 50 King books ranking! I believe that one is still pretty up to date with all the stuff that I’ve read! Also my ranking of Revival is even higher than this video haha.
Great to see Christine high on your list. I have read it 30 or more years ago and still remember it, great book. However, I did like Jake's story. The secuel Black House is the worst book of SK for me. My top 3 so far: The Stand, Misery, The Regulators. I have read The Regulators at least 4 times. I really like it.
I haven’t read Black House because I heard it is dogshit. Love The Stand and Misery, The Regulators maybe not…. Hahah maybe I’ll like it on reread, it is quite fun but it’s absolutely bonkers
Now reading Dolores Claiborne, my 48th SK. I agree on 11/22/63, my only 10/10 and consistently ranked in the top 5 in most lists I have seen. I don't agree with the low rank of the books in the Mr Mercedes trilogy. I also think IT is overrated in most lists: too long and repetitive.
Dolores Claiborne is great! Also I don't dislike the Mr Mercedes books, I just think that's where they sit compared to everything else because his other books are so good!
Putting Doctor Sleep and Billy Summers over The Shining is blasphemous. Both of those books have nods to the overlook hotel and doctor sleep specifically heavily relies on the events of the overlook to spook the readers.
Awesome video bro! Huge King fan myself and I'm currently reading "The Dead Zone" and wow, it's amazing! On my page I have a few King adaptations, I think you might enjoy!
In my opinion, Norman Daniels is the only good thing from rose madder, and even then he gets ruined halfway through the book. I think the concept behind his character was genius, and I especially liked how he was written at first. The part where he acts like a detective and steps into Roses shoes was amazing... But as soon as he got that stupid bull mask, he became way too over the top and he stopped being a believable character.
Yeah Rose Madder is bonkers and it worked for me, but I can understand why it doesn’t for so many people. Norman is set up as this amazing villain and then he gets turned into a Minotaur. It’s pretty stupid
This is really great, you reviewed so many books without spoilers and enuf info to induce interest in reading.
Thanks so much! It makes me glad that people are liking my vids and that people wanna read the books after my reviews!

Agreed. I’m excited to see the new movie but I don’t think it will match the book in sheer terror
You have a very good list! I agree with a lot of your bottom choices and a lot of your top choices, but of course we disagree on some. I’m always glad to see people enjoying the dead zone as much as I do. Great video!
Thanks! As I said I feel if I reread The Dead Zone it could jump to number one. Can’t wait to see your list!

Haha it is tricky trying to rank them all, it’s also tricky trying not to ramble on too long about each one because I love pretty much all of them!
Here is my list so far. I have excluded Night Shift, Bazaar of Bad Dreams, Different Seasons, and Four Past Midnight because it is too hard for me to rank collections among novels.

@@GetFramed I am nerd, so I already have it on a spreadsheet, lol.
@@mtwice4586 lol so do I haha
I love that you have Duma Key as high as you do. I think most people missed it (or HATED the ending) and it never seems to get mentioned. Cheers!
Just came across your channel - you seem like a pretty damn cool critic, you've got me impressed.
Thanks heaps!! I just love talking about movies and books and having fun with it, so I’m glad you like it!!
Rose Madder is my favorite King book. I loved it. Great characters and super imaginative.
You should please read Duma Key!! It probably crashes into my top 5. Great vídeo btw. I love Salems Lot but i wouldnt just rank it n1.
I don't actually own it yet, but I'd love to check it out!
Insomnia is so underrated.
ehhhhhhhhhh
@GetFramed I personally couldn't put it down. A bit weird but I loved it

Yes the ending of under the dome is terrible but I really enjoyed the book
Billy summers is definitely a great book
Under The Domes ending is shit but the rest of the book is so good!
The under the dome show sucked but I liked the book and think it would make a great movie. Just outside of my top 10
So strange how these rankings can differ. I loved The Stand, Pet Sematary, and IT but I thought Salem's Lot was very dull. Currently a third through 11 22 63, and enjoying it very much.

Great list. Must get into the Bachman books. Going to finish dark tower series first. Two to go. Good channel.
Lisey's Story is my #50, but we're pretty close.

Revival is a great read not surprised it's in the top ten
A great review ❤

completly agree on Revival. Have you read Dreamcatcher yet ? :D it`s one of the 5 books ive read.
Impressive to have read 50 books!
good list
