There's no competition. Despite the lack of quality on some figures, ML has the most enjoyable character selection and variety.

Thats an opinion since legends constantly puts out the same characters like spiderman ,iron man and wolverine which i have no interest in while todd gives us a seahorse .

lol even though Todd gives us a Seahorse he still takes the cake by far for give the most repeats of a character. 49 Batman figures in 1 year. Hasbro wasn't even close. Even if you add up all the Spiderman, wolverine and Ironman figures Batman is still way higher. I've got to give it to Hasbro for the character selection and variety. Agin like we said in the video, Hasbro had almost twice as many brand new characters than Todd put out.

I prefer DC Multiverse. The sculpts, in most cases, are better and they're larger figures. Also, I have pretty much every Marvel figure I care about except a couple X-Men characters and Moon Knight related characters. I'd love to get the Moon Knight characters, but Hasbro seems to completely ignore his comics. The Multiverse line is the first DC line I've collected so there are a lot more characters that I don't have figures of that I want from those comics.

I think if DC Multiverse had better articulation I'd be more excited for them. But right now you can semi put them in a pose but it still just feels kind of plain to me.

183 figures Marvel Legends is oversaturation and one of the reason why so many of these figures end up at clearance. Supply is definitely outpacing the demand. Coupled with the price vs quality many collectors will still play the long game on many of these. Also good luck finding space every year adding 100+ figures of any line. I would go with higher quality and less figures.

    • @thestrongcollectors
      @thestrongcollectors  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I honestly love that they put out so many. I'm not buying anywhere near everything but I think it keeps the pace of the figure reveals fun and i'm not going to complain when some go on clearance. I think Legends has really turned it around and made them worth the price. I think it's crazy so many of the Earth's Mightiest wave went on such clearance. Those were great figures and IMO worth the full price of retail for the most part.

    • @aaroneaston8899
      @aaroneaston8899 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

@thestrongcollectors I'm not in the least surprised Earth's Mightest went to clearance. Reason being too many multi-packs. Some collectors only wanted one figure out of the 2 pack and caught on to Hasbros attempts to force feed them 2 figures. Like like Bruce Banner and Grey Hulk and Thor and Destroyer. Not to mention, Super Adaptoid was way overpriced for what it was. Instead of Hasbro being satisfied with making the single figure sale, they got greedy and packed figures / characters that many felt were redundant. Like that Doctor Doom. So collectors waited until the prices dropped by 50% to pay for just one figure instead of 2. There is only so much money to go around and with more toy companies now than ever and even competing brands with Hasbro like G.I. Joe, their warehouses are going to stay full, and collectors will continue to get great clearance prices until they decrease the supply by a significant margin, which by the looks of it they're starting to do. It's been a while since Target and Walmart got a wave.

    • @thestrongcollectors
      @thestrongcollectors  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

It blows my mind how much some statues can cost. There's always the argument of how many spidermans or batmans etc do you have to buy at the retail $20-30 price point to kit bash your perfect one or do you just spend the $75-100 to get a Mafex and it's perfect the first time. Even between us we don't quite agree. I prefer most Legends to Marvel Mafex but Mafex over McFarlane. Instead of coming close to the 49 Batman figures, I'll probably never buy another normal Batman now that I have the Mafex Hush Batman.
P.S. sorry it's taken so long to get you the Davinci video stuff and set a date for the think tank. My goal is to do that this week.

I started out collecting around half way through last year with MF. Then I picked up my first ML right when Todd raised the prices. Made me reconsider a lot and I actually outright switched over to ML and never looked back. Articulation may not be as good, but you can mostly get ML in better poses and they're way easier to handle. The quality can be really stunning too. the amount of variety and accessories just can't be beat either. The ML line is what every company should strive for. They're not perfect and can improve, but as is? Its a completely satisfying line to collect imo. Jada Toys might start giving Hasbro a run if they branch out their lines. Then again, I haven't got any of the new street fighter figures in hand yet. They look very promising.

I enjoy both. Scalability be damned, honestly it's not that big of a deal. Honestly, give both companies full license, I wouldn't be surprised if I ebb toward Mcfarlane. I just dig Marvel a bit more in the end I guess, so I have more Legends. I have some Selects too, which scale with DC a little better. My complaint would be DCs lack of genuine classic representations, but, that's getting a bit sorted it seems. Either way, its an amazing time to be a fan (wallet be damned.). I look around my studio, and I would have gone off my rocker for some of this stuff. People dont remember it was almost 10 years with no Superman, Indiana Jones, or Star Wars toys through the onset of the 90s.

Todd did have the best price in the game for quite a while and still does with some stuff. I think the $40 price tag is scaring a lot of people off though. I don't think we'll see that for a while if ever at the retail level. but then that does beg the question, why are the figures he's selling directly so much more expensive? shouldn't they be cheaper when he doesn't have to pay for the retail space?

I started in the collection hobby buying mcfarlane toys DC multiverse, I really enjoyed the brand until the Batman Movie Pack came out, I realized that my collection was mostly about Batman (Arkham Asylum, Flashpoint, SDCC, White Knight) and when I bought that pack, I've already had Bale and Battinson (with the motorcycle). I really got disappointed because there isn't a wide variety of DC (it took me a while to see that 😅), it seems that 10 new Batmans are needed to get a new character. On the other hand, Marvel Legends has a lot of characters both live action and comic book based (the second one been the best). I'm a casual buyer and honestly, I buy either a DC or marvel figure because it looks cool lol (I bought King Daredevil and Elektra Daredevil and those releases made me read the storyline which are based of and I've been enjoying it). It seems that mcfarlane is adding more accessories to their figures and I wish Hasbro give us more releases like the Black Widow from Target. I really want to buy figures that make me feel it worth it.

I did the exact same thing with the Daredevil story. I saw the leak of DD Elektra and got interested and when the figure was announced I started reading that story and it was great. I had never really read DD until then and now he's one of my favorites.
As far as figures go, it almost works out for our budget that there are so many batman figures to give the wallet a rest until the next new figure. I thought it was cool to see Red Tornado and Animal and others like that but you're right it is pretty spaced out.

I just dropped DC Multiverse because i feel like we're not getting much as we used to and the weapons are so bad, also his price point has been all over the place as of late. McFarlane Collector Edition $30, Build to Collect $25, common $20-$23, mega figs $40-$50, 2pks $40-$60. I literally bought more Marvel Legends in 2023 than have DC Multiverse figures over the life of that line (2020-2023)…and 2023 was a down year for me with Marvel Legends. First McFarlane had these great looking figures with a high percentage of original sculpts, but he was putting out characters/versions that I wasn’t interested in. Now he’s putting out characters/versions I’m interested in with a high percentage of reuse, much of which has inaccurate sculpted details for the character/version. The Collectors Edition figures seem to be working for me, but it’s hit or miss (and predominantly miss) with the Gold Label figures.

Alan Scott is probably my favorite McFarlane figure. I’m a huge JSA fan, and that’s the first Alan Scott figure that I’ve truly been happy with. The DCUC version was good, but I didn’t care for the head sculpt. Wonder Woman is probably my second favorite. Deadman, Flash (Flashpoint), Knightfall Batman, Knightfall Catwoman, Blue Beetle, Hawkman, Firestorm, and Batgirl (Art of Crime) would round out my personal top ten. If you’re wondering why Jay Garrick isn’t in my top ten, it’s because I would have preferred a more classic take, but he’s still a good figure. So here’s the thing I have been collecting Marvel Legends forever and I’m loyal to them because look at all the teams you can build
    The Illuminati
    X-Men
    Spider-Man and his Amazing friends
    The Freaking Fantastic Four!!!!
Also their scale beautifully with each other
Have I collected Todd’s DC Multiverse figures? Yes. Yes I have
That guy releases 4 Batman figures per damned month basically repaints
Why did it take years to get a Classic Wonder Woman figure? Like why? While she’s awesome (because I got her) I’m still unsure why it took so long
Todd’s problem is quite a few
Issue 1 scaling : we have figures that don’t seem like they fit well together. Like Knightfall Nightwing is bigger than Knightfall Batman…. Like why? We can use Hush Batman but he doesn’t look like he fits in with him either
2 the regurgitated Batman figures :We are finally getting a classic aquaman along with classic Green Lantern but why the F are we getting ANOTHER Batman figure? Why not use that slot for Starfire or The Huntress? Plastic man would be amazing!!!! Toy man land Solomon Grundy Woukd be nice too
3 distribution and pricing unlike Marvel Legends where you can can those figures anywhere mcfarlane toys does the “Eenie meenie miney moe” to see which store gets the figures, like one month it’s a target exclusive then an Amazon exclusive then A Todd Mcfarlane exclusive do you are wracking your brains to to hunt for them and then you have to what’s the pricing for figures because he’s all over the place with that there’s not one set price on his figures now he comes off bipolar
With marvel legends we don’t suffer from that plus that Black Widow target exclusive is so amazing I can kick myself for not getting her
4 lack of accessories how do you give us a 2 pack of Hal Jordan with no damned Green Lantern accessory? He also gave us a Nightwing from the Titans wave without his escrima sticks like WTF? Seriously? I had to buy a custom lantern on eBay for my Hal unacceptable
Last but not least Todd’s idiotic comments he’s a 60 year old man with his head up his…..well you know
Let’s be realistic children are not buying these action figures it says 12 and up there’s no 12-year-old boy who is buying these figures it’s all adult male for one based on nostalgia. Kids are also no longer reading comic books. They’re too busy on the Internet and playing video games. . so Todd McFarlane looks extremely disingenuous when he’s making comments about toys
So Hasbro all day every day

Yeah some of his comments do see a little wild. When people are begging to get a classic Wonder Woman for years and he says that people don't want female figures because they don't see the value... I think they'd like the classic versions of the most icon figures regardless of how much plastic is in the box. I respect the concept but it doesn't really fit into reality all of time.

For me its without a doubt Marvel Legends. Hasbro can be idiotic but they do give us what we want. Todd though is stuck in the past. He refuses to release female figures because he doesnt see a market for them. He also puts out way too many variants of the same character in too close a gap. 49 batmans in a year? Not even Spiderman or Wolverine or Iron Man get that many. I want to collect DC but so many good characters are missing cause Todd is too shortsighted. I cant even complete a Batman collection cause too many villains and allies are missing. While with my Spiderman collection hasbro releases ALL his allies and friends (INCLUDING THE FEMALES TODD). I completed his main rogues and allies fairly quickly, then hasbro releases guys like Tombstone, Alistair Smythe, Hammerhead, Beetle and Aunt May, all characters that are obscure or not important enough to complete a collection but Hasbro still does it. I dont see Todd giving us a civilian bruce wayne figure or commisioner gordon or Polka Dot Man or Firefly that would be awesome to have in a batman collection. So marvel legends takes it automatically just for character selection alone

I agree. For as much as people complain about Marvel Legends putting out so many Spiderman, Ironman and wolverines, even combining those 3 doesn't come to 49 in 1 year.

I started with multiverse but definitely dropped off and if I had to guess why..... I lost interest, That simple.
I was exclusively a multiverse collector until I jumped on the legends train.

We both did both lines for a couple years but McFarlanes just seemed to get less and less... something. I don't even know what. probably a combo of articulation, accessories, value...

@@thestrongcollectors Yea, I got bored. Didn't feel like keeping up, I almost feel like I got all I could get out of that line. It just doesn't spark joy like before. Not opposed to buying more, but legends and others definitely have my wallet firmly in their grasp.

Same. I'm not saying I'll never buy another DC Multiverse figure but it's going to have to be really good to get me to go for it. The big figures are mainly where I'm interested with them now.

It just buffle me there is no Phantasm figure yet 🤔 I think that's easy to do right?! 😂 Do the only Batman collectors celebrate when Mcfarlane release a Batman figure or they are piss cuz the figure is not that great 😅 Don't get me wrong I do like some of Batman figure 🥰 Gold Label here in Asia are bad for us specially those exclusive they are more likely not offered in our retailers 😤 not many they became rare for that reasons 😓 The Cygor distribution was bad here and Monolith figure still never show up over here...

We kind of talk on our other channel Strong Collector Comics about how a lot of the best DC stories are Batman related so I guess it makes sense that a lot of people might want their top 5 Batman stories version of him so Todd can put out any Batman and it’s probably one of someone’s top 5 Batman’s. Just yesterday I sent Jordan a picture of the new az bat and today he sent me a pic of the first appearance Batman so already we both want a new Batman figure from Todd.

    Honestly, McFarlane Toys Suck!
I have a few because Superman is my favorite super hero, but only core DC Justice League characters which after years I’m still trying to complete. No “classic” Hawkman because he’s a stupid “chase” and the line is finally getting a “classic”Aquaman and Green Lantern.
I don’t think McFarlane the company or the man really gets the industry or really cares. Sure, the company seems to be doing okay, mostly because DC almost sells itself but just okay seems to be the bar.
    Some reasons below:
Side eye: Just why? Because Todd likes it and probably thinks people keep their figures in only one pose, so everyone had to deal with it.
Pins: They are ugly! Get rid of them already! It’s 2024!
    Diapers: Are they even trying?
Articulation: What a nightmare! And no effort to improve.
Faces sculpts: How hard is it to make a good Superman or Supergirl? Dude looks like a lady!
Sculpt reuse: Everyone does it but the choices made by MFT make no sense! And what’s up with the hand sizes!
7”: Just why! Because Todd thinks bigger is better.
Scaling: No regard for world building. Thinks of them as one offs that you display with side eyes and next to a trading card. Oh yeah, on a stand.
Digital BAF: Buy 3 figures so I can get a picture of another figure. Miss me in that one!
Digital Action Figures: How is that even a thing.
Chases: Oh thanks, now I have buy a bunch of figures I don’t want to maybe get the one I want. Which sometimes is the more accurate one. That’s just messed up!
Finally: Batman! Forget other figures needed in the line, here’s another Batman!
I want to collect more DC figures but just can’t with this line and I collect too many lines to get into the imports.
Honestly again, I hope a more capable domestic company gets the DC license! Across the board, McFarlane Toys suck!
    Easy win for Marvel Legends!

one of our commenters on a previous video said he has the license until or through 2025. I would assume he would try to renew it but maybe we'll see someone else take over.

I think DUCU was the best retail action figures that DC has ever done imo. I just wish that they had better articulation.

I'm sorry you feel like that. 3 of our last 10 have included DC figures. I think we've always been very clear Marvel Legends is our main collection. Second was McFarlane now for Dakota it's Mythic Legions and it still might be McFarlane for Jordan, at least last year it for sure was.

Ive gotten to the point with McFarlane where I dont even know which Batman figures I already have. They just announced like 5 more Batman figures.
I get that Batman sells, but damn. Slow the fuck down Todd.

I think you’re in the minority there but I’m glad Todd has some fans. His stuff isn’t awful. The new Knightfall az bat he just showed looks great.

They have better forms of articulation but lacks range of motion, so they are way less poseable than Marvel Legends figures.
