Me too to be honest, I spend almost as much time sitting and chilling as I do walking and talking lol. Real nice walk, one we both love and plenty of interest on the trail. Real good of you to stop by and comment, appreciate it, cheers Alan
Hi Alan, this is simply beautiful sharing. I love "The Cathedral Caves" so clean water and nice waterfalls. Mrs. Metalman had so much fun as it shows in her beautiful smile ❤️
Glad you enjoyed it, real nice of you to watch and comment. It's a favourite walk of us both to be honest and one we both enjoyed so much, despite it being a real hot day, cheer Alan
Too right, it was a real hot day, too hot for us but the caves were super cool and a great way to get away from the sun for a while. Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
We enjoyed the stunning and exquisite views along your walk. The roads are incredibly narrow but wow the views just can't be beat. Thank you for sharing. Have a wonderful day!
Thanks for visiting, real nice of you to watch and leave a great comment. I hate driving down those real narrow roads, so real glad we were walking and not driving. A favourite hike for us, one we always enjoy, cheers Alan
I remember getting a real bad sunburn in Plymouth when I was a kid and we were visiting relatives down South 😳. Thanks very much for watching Richard and to be honest, it was really hot on this walk too, way to hot for us but hitting the pub on the last mile was a real bonus, one we both enjoyed. Thank you very much for watching, very much appreciated, cheers Alan
Thanks for visiting, it was real good of you and very much appreciated. It's a real nice walk, one we both enjoy but man, was it hot, we are not used to the heat in the North of England, cheers Alan
Thank you kindly Max, I appreciate you watching my friend and I know the temps are nothing for you but a real hot day there for us, far too hot to be honest. Cheers Alan
What a wonderful walk, with a little bit of everything. Beautiful views, a countryside Inn for lunch, waterfalls (still looked good to me!), and then the caves. Wow. I was laughing out loud when you started to sing, Alan, and Mrs. Metalman was having none of it! That is what we do, we embarrass our wives! The tunnels and caverns were amazing. That beer looked good. What a great day, and 8 miles is long walk in the heat!
Yes, it really was a hot day and we are not that used to it in the North of England, so we were both feeling drained, so the pub was a real nice find on the final leg. The acoustics in the caves were amazing so I had to break into song, much to the embarrassment of Mrs Metalman lol. Thank you very much for stopping by and watching, very much appreciated, cheers Alan
I like how the paths are well established. You can walk, sit and hangout and yet still find peace instead of feeling lost. Beautiful tour Alan. Now send me some of that beer.
That cold drink in the pub was so welcome, it was too hot for us, nowhere near what you get but we are not used to heat like that in the North of England. Still, a real good walk we both enjoyed, cheers Alan
Glad you enjoyed it and it is one of our favourite flat walks in the lakes, need to do it again next year too. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Thanks for visiting, so nice of you and I always appreciate it. We have both done the walk before and always enjoyed it, although it was a bit too hot for us this time, we are not used to hot weather in the North of England, cheers Alan
Such a gorgeous hike! Love the scenery, the gorgeous architecture and the summer flowers along the way. The waterfalls and the cave were lovely too. I bet it was refreshing inside. :) Thanks for sharing your lovely adventure with us! Greetings from Switzerland!
Thank you very much, real nice of you to stop by and make such a great comment. This is a favourite walk for us both but man, was it hot, a bit too hot for us, so the caves (and the pub) were a great way to cool off and get away from the hot sun for a while. Cheers Alan
Beautiful walk Alan and your guide did an amazing job. Spent many a Sunday morning climbing and abseiling in the quarries there. Five Star Film ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks very much for watching Mike, we both really enjoyed the walk, although it was blisteringly hot, so the pub on the last mile was a gift from the Gods. I think that cider must have gone to my head when I overruled Mrs Metalman on the last half mike, when we took a wrong turning🤔, cheers Alan
What that you say doctor!? 20cc of the Lake District stat!!....best get on Mr and Mrs Metalman! We absolutely loved this walk, through the ancient woods to the fee flowing falls, the endless veiws back into the Lakes. We had done some sections of this walk ourselves a few years back, the open fields with the undulating hills are so romantic, pleased the sun was out for you too. The falls must be run so strong in the wetter months, shame it was a slow trickle for you guys. The Cathedral cave is something special hey, imagine working the m back in the day, wow! glad the tea room was open for you both too, always nice to nab some top nosh on th e path! Nom nom🥰👍☕ Especially loved the moody clouds over the mountain tops too, very dramatic. Great video as always Alan, well filmed and edited. Thanks for our dose of the Lake district, have a good week ☕🤗♥️⛰👍
Pretty sure we have some photos on out insta of Slaters bridge and the caves, with the Cumbrian Westgate you passed through too, we tackled almost the same route but in reverse. Lovely Alan, thank you ♥️☕👍
It's a walk that we both love and there is something there for everyone, with the Lake, caves, waterfalls, cream tea and the pub on the last mile and man was that a welcome sight in that heat, we were both melting. If you want a cream tea at the farm you need to be early, as they only bake so many scones, fresh every day and once they are all sold, the close for the day - we got the last two😋. Thank you very much for watching and I am pleased that it brought back good memories for you, cheers Alan
Wow, those reflections are very nice. Great adventure with your wife. Looked like a tight squeeze through those fences. That cave was really neat. Beautiful countryside and lovely hike. Have a great day, Alan.
Thanks for stopping by and yep, those fences were not made for the larger made of us 😂. A real favourite walk for us both but man was it hot, not your type of heat but still far too hot for us, cheers Alan
@@AlanMETALMAN yes. We have been 104f for the last several days but it has been a dry heat. Your humid heat can actually feel hotter without getting over 100f. Glad you found some shady spots on your walk. Take care.
Glad you enjoyed it and so nice of you to stop by. A real favourite of us both but man, was it hot, too hot for us, as we are not used to it but it was great to hit the country pub on the last mile, that was a real life saver. Cheers Alan
What an absolute 💯 stunning walk. And the weather was amazing too. Great to see Mrs Metalman again. You two are such a pleasure to watch. Thank you as always for sharing your adventures. Those waterfalls and caves are spectacular oh and the cream tea. Glad you got a little cloud coverage to give you a little respite from the sun. It certainly helps. Another cracking walk. And it's nice to do a but low level walking sometimes isn't it. The views are just as nice as they are low level......oh the singing bravo 👏👍
Mrs Metalman was cringing in embarrassment lol but the acoustics were brilliant in the caves, so it had to be done. It's a real nice walk that, done it a few times before but man, was it hot, too hot for both of us to be honest but finding the pub open in the last mile was a gift from the Gods! Thanks very much for watching Emma, appreciate it, cheers Alan
Absolutely beautiful area as usual! Man, if that is a trickle, would love to see it flowing full blast! Gotta love nature's air conditioning! That camera of yours is doing a great job catching all that detail. Love it Wow, those are some tight roads! Enjoyed this adventure sir, thanks for taking us along! - Shane
It's one of our favourite walks Shane but it was a bit to hot for us, not used to heat like this Up North, so hitting the pub on the last mile was, as a gift from the Gods. Those lanes are a nightmare to walk on, never mind drive on lol. Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
Funny, Stuart so many people walk right past them as well and do not know they are there. It's a real nice walk that, with so much to see, although, due to the dry weather, the waterfalls were a bit on the lame side this time. Thank you very much for watching, cheers Alan
Great hike! The Lake District is fantastic! Loved the reflection in the lake near the beginning! Beautiful open forest and rock walls! It’s great that you can get a wonderful lunch served on a lovely plate! Fun to explore in the caves too! You and Mrs. Metalman had a wonderful day! 💗💕💗 Like 👍 ( hi Mrs. Metalman! )
Glad you enjoyed it and so nice of you to take the time to stop by and comment. It was a local farm that bakes scones every day and serves them as a cream tea to passing hikers, real nice and friendly. Cheers Alan
It really is impressive and a perfect way to cool off as well, as the sun was really hot, too hot for us to be honest. A nice area with a lot of interest along the trail, a walk we both enjoy. Thanks you for watching, cheers Alan
Omg it's truely Heavily there 🙏🏼🥰🥰 Thanks Alan, my friend, for sharing another wonderful and very inspirational video ❤️❤️ May God bless you and your lovely family 🙏🏼💖
Tropical weather up north? Love it Alan!😂👍☀️ Wow, what a stunning walk you did here, and those caves are just incredible! Proves sometimes the Lakes aren't just about the hills! Oh yes, you can't beat a tasty creamed tea either, so has to be done! Cheers, Simon😎👍
Aye, far too hot for us both to be honest but the pub on the last mile was a gift from the Gods. The cream teas are great at the farm but they only bake so many every day for passing hikers and once they are gone they close - we got the last two😋. Thanks very much for watching Simon, cheers Alan
This was beautiful! Those caves were amazing. The trails were just breathtaking. I love how you are able to stop for a decadent treat on your hike. We need places like that over here! Thanks for sharing, Alan!
We stopped at the same farm last time we did this walk and had the same cream tea then as well. They bake the scones fresh every day but once they sell them all, they close, so you got to get there early - we got the last two 😋. It's a real favourite walk for both of us, a lot of interest on the trail and the pub, in the village on the last mile, was well need on a red hot day. Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
The acoustics in the cave were amazing and I totally embarrassed Mrs Metalman when I started to sing, with so many other people there 😂. Thank you very much for stopping by, real good of you, cheers Alan
Thank you so much! Mrs Metalman was cringing with embarrassment when I started singing in the caves, as there we so many other people there😂. Thank you so much for stopping by, cheers Alan
@@AlanMETALMAN At least you had a few nice little resting spots to enjoy lunch and take a break! Like you said, you gotta enjoy that nice weather during the months you have it; go out and enjoy! :)
That was a lovely walk... like walking through a picture... dramatic sky and stunning colours and scenery. Some nice humour too. 'get it switched off...' lol... followed by your musical rendition in the caves. Fully enjoyed that. Thank you for sharing it with us Alan. Take care. Alice
Glad you enjoyed it and I sang the same some last time I was in there but Mrs Metalman not expecting it this time as there were a few other people there😂. The sun was boiling and she was getting a tad sick of waiting for me yakking into the camera, so having to wait for me, so she insisted no camera when we where having the cream tea. It's a real nice walk that, one we both enjoy to be honest. Thanks very much for watching, really appreciate it, cheers Alan
The caves are spectacular as are the waterfalls when in full spate! It looked like another hot one Alan, good job your team leader knew where all the seats and shade were!😉
Yes it was, we were both boiling but the pub was a welcome relief on the last stretch. Been to the caves a few times and always an impressive sight, shame about the waterfalls this time mind. Thanks for watching Anthony, cheers Alan
A real favourite of us both but man, was it hot, to hot for us, as we are not used to it but it was great to hit the country pub on the last mile, that was a real life saver. Thank you so much for stopping by, cheers Alan
Nicely done guys, I always think a 'day walk' should be all day, regardless of distance, enjoy yourself... Have that pint, and a lunch somewhere, take your time and truly appreciate the world around you. Cheers, Atb James
Absolutely and this was such a day, it was boiling hot (too hot for us) but we still really enjoyed the day and the cream tea and pint at the pub, was the icing on the cake. Thanks very much for watching James, cheers Alan
To be honest Chris it was too hot, absolutely boiling with not much shade but hitting the county pub on the last mike was a gift from the Gods, the cider was so ice cold I got an instant ice-cream headache after gulping down a third of a pint straight off. Thanks very much for watching and those caves were amazing, cheers Alan
Wow what an absolutely fantastic walk. The scenery in that area is just stunning with the mountains and open vistas and the quaint villages and cottages. The waterfalls were very nice, especially that first big one. The second one was still quite scenic despite the low flow. The caves were truly magnificent and I agree it must have been some seriously backbreaking work to carve out those tunnels with the crude tools of the day. Would still be difficult today! Wonderful video, my friend!
Thanks so much for stopping by real good of you and very much appreciated. Those guys had it hard in those days for sure working in the mines but such a cool place to visit, cheers Alan
Hi Alan never tire of seeing the landscapes and stone cottages in the lakes, never been to cathedral caves so need to put that right, great walk and love to see a waterfall so my kind of walk, anyway thanks for showing us all around and them scones looked delicious lol cheers nigel
Glad you enjoyed it Nigel, a walk we had done a few times before but never in that heat - it was boiling. If you want the scones at the farm, you need to be there quite early, as they are baked fresh every day and once they sell them all, they lose - we got the last two😋. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Stunning walk mate, that scone looked nice too, a really picturesque walk that with all the waterfalls, nice seeing the caves too , take care mate , atb 👍
Glad you enjoyed it Gaz and we both love this walk, although, man it was hot, too hot for us to be honest but the pub on the last mile was a lifesaver mind lol. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Great video Alan. The caves are already on my list for a visit in September so thanks to you and Mrs Metalman for the preview, it looks stunning.....now I can't wait to go 😀😃
It's great in the caves and I have been in 3 times now and always enjoy it, on a hot day it is nice and cool as well. Thanks very much for watching, appreciate it buddy, cheers Alan
Loved the singing part lol You should do it more often. Oh those caves! So interesting..had not heard of them before. Thanks for the lovely video.. watching you two together puts smile on my face :)
Glad you enjoyed my singing Linda, my other Linda was cringing in embarrassment LOL! It's a real nice walk and the caves are great, been to them e=several times before and always enjoy them but some people walk right passed them as they do not know they are there. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Great walk Alan - Cathedral Cave, Three Shires & Slaters Bridge... didn’t think they could be topped. But there was one shot that had to be freeze framed !! That cream tea looked incredible 😁😜😜. Glad you both had a lovely day. Cheers 👍🏻
Thanks for watching Stuart and we got the last 2 cream tea's so hit on lucky there mind. Apparently they only bake so many and once they are gone, they close. Hot day but a great day and hitting the pub on the last mile was heaven sent, cheers Alan
What a great hike Alan! The views along the way are just amazing. The waterfalls is spectacular. Walking inside the cavern looks cool. Mrs Metalman is right , as if someone created the window there. And agree with you, the acoustic is brilliant and in fact you have a beautiful voice! That’s a long and enjoyable hike for sure . It must be very refreshing to drink ice cold beer after the hike:)
The beer was heaven sent, as it was a boiling hot day and too hot for us, so the caves were a real treat too, as they we so cooling. Mrs Metalman was cringing with embarrassment when I started singing in the caves, as there we so many other people there😂. Thank you so much for stopping by, cheers Alan
Glad you enjoyed it Del and although we both enjoyed it too, man that sun was hot, too hot for us and thank goodness for the pub at the end. Good of you to stop by buddy, cheers Alan
Really beautiful hike! That money tree was really cool. Too bad money doesn't really grow on trees LOL. Oh man I must say that cave was totally brilliant! Also that Stonebridge you went over was really neat to see! Great you were able to stop and grab tea and a beer or cider during the hike! Thanks for sharing your adventure with all of us Alan!
It's a real favourite walk us both Eric but man was it hot, nothing like you guys get but too hot for us both. It shaded over nice when we stopped at the farm for a cream tea and it was really cooling in the caves but the pub, a mile from the car was heaven sent lol! Thanks very much for watching buddy, cheers Alan
Hello alan and mrs m,this is my favourite video of yours,i really enjoyed it.the forest looked stunning and i think the waterfalls were on anouther of your videos with your son and they were so lovely ,i am a dory so could got that wrong, but i think its same waterfall, and i like what you said"we got 2 minutes before people came".I have never had a cream tea,but when i saw the one you and mrs m had,i was ,i have to get me one of them. And the iceing on the cake for me was the man made caves, and you singing lol.loved this alan, you and mrs m stay safe and have a lovely week ahead debs..
Thanks very much for watching Debs and your kind words. A different waterfall to the one I did with my son about 6 weeks ago but I have done this walk before with Mrs Metalman but has to be a good couple of years. The caves are great with superb acoustics, so I had to break into song, much to the embarrassment of Mrs Metalman lol! We got the last 2 cream teas before they shut, they only bake a limited amount and as soon as they are sold, they close. Cheers Alan
Ohhh scones! The cafe was closed when we went back in May. Glad to see it’s opened up. The caves are mesmerising, one of my favourite locations in the Lake District. Slaters Bridge is also wonderful, with views over the tarn. Thanks for this Alan. It brought back happy memories x
Oh good, that's nice. I was speaking to the lady at the farm and they do it as a hobby, not a business, so they only make so many and once they have been sold, they close for the day, so we just made it (had the last two) at 13.00. Thanks you for watching Rachel, real good of you, cheers Alan
Good to see you and the wife out exploring you always a full view and a like. Beautiful place you live in hoping some day we can get out to the UK. Stay safe my brother Cheers Mike
Hey Dude! That's some voice you've been hiding away. I loved the video Alan. That's a beautiful walk in Little Langdale. Those caves look spectacular! Been a while since I was up in that area so must re-visit soon. Fabulous! I was up in the Lakes on Wednesday going up Fleetwith Pike and over to Haystacks. These poor old legs are still screaming why ha ha ha. Good luck to you both and keep on belting out those songs. Loved it!
Thanks very much David and Mrs Metalman was cringing, as there were a canny few people about in those cave lol. It's a great walk but man was it hot, far too hot for us, especially on almost 8 miles but the caves and the pub were great ways to cool off. I love that walk over Fleetwith Pike to Haystacks, must do it again sometime soon - when it's cooler mind, cheers Alan
Glad it was helpful and fingers crossed for some good weather Steve. for when you go. It's a real nice walk with plenty of interest but if you want the cream tea, you need to be there early. Thank you very much for watching and taking the time to comment, real good of you and very much appreciated, cheers Alan
Very interesting walk Alan. Lovely waterfalls & rugged mountain scenery to take in. I must admit that cream tea did look very nice. The tunnel & cavern were absolutely amazing. Would live to visit that one day. Take care mate.🙂🙂
another beautiful place my friend, cathedral caves are amazing creations. already supported your 2 friends you referred in your latest video from US and one came back. thanks for sharing. see you around
Every time I watch your videos, and all the landscape features, I see ancient history. I think to myself, who stood there, what maybe happened there. So much rich history in all that beauty. Excellent video brother.
Thanks very much for stopping by and totally with you on the history, it blows my mind all the time. A real favourite walk of ours, although, too hot for us. I have been reading how you guys have had extreme heat of there, way more than we get and I do not know how you cope - too much heat drains me, cheers Alan
Hi Alan! Fantastic scenery, and those caves are very impressive! I'll definitely take another look at some of your recent routes next time I'm planning a trip up there with Maria! Thanks & all the best👍😊
Well I hope you get the same weather Des, all be it, a bit cooler, it was blisteringly hot but hitting the pub on the last mile was a gift from the Gods. If you want the cream tea at the farm, you need to get there early as they only bake so many and once they are sold, they close. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
The acoustics in the cave were amazing, so I just had to break into song, much to the embarrassment of Mrs Metalman lol! It was a real hot day out of the caves mind, far too hot for us, as we are not used it it in the North of England. Shame about the waterfalls, due to the very dry weather we had had in the previous couple of weeks. Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
That water is still! You can really tell there isn't any wind - something you said just after I wrote my comment. You are the opposite of me - I could stay in the heat all day. Nice set of falls - even if they are smaller than normal. The perfect time to have a snack.
I enjoy the sun but we are not used to the real heat in the North of England, so it really drains me when we get a day like that. We both still enjoyed the day, especially the caves, which were real cooling inside. Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
This looks like a walk the humans and I would really enjoy. Thanks for sharing it with us those caves looked amazing and those falls looked like they were in a great spot. As for that cream tea WOW !!!!! I want one now . Take care : ) Teddy
Glad you enjoyed it, appreciate you watching but if you want a cream tea, you need to get there early. The farm only bake so many scones fresh every day and once they are all gone , they close for the day - we got the last two😋. Cheers Alan
Another lovely picturesque walk Alan, you certainly live in a beautiful bit of the world. Lovely waterfalls, and those caverns were insane! That's a proper rest you had there with an ice cold brew. Good to see you take your breaks as seriously as your walks. Need to have proper balance in life. You totally got photobombed by that fly at the end btw.
Dam, I hoped nobody would notice it😂, but yes, he totally bombed me lol. The weather was super hot, too hot for us, which is why the pub on the last mile has heaven sent, really cooled us both off. Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
Stunning hike as always Alan, nice to see Mrs MM back out on the trial, those caves are awesome, you should release an album matey with that voice... 😀 I'm so jealous of your back garden!! Not your lady or man garden though 😂🤣 I love those little bridges and some fabulous houses on route 👍 Lee
LOL, thanks Lee, I love the caves and always break into song when I am in there, no matter who is there, much to the embarrassment of Mrs Metalman 😂. Slater's bridge is one of the most photographed in the Lakes but is is a great sight and the people that must have walked over it over the years, mind blowing. Thanks for watching Lee, cheers Alan
We watched this last night Alan, looks a really nice walk. Drove past this area, but never stopped to have a look around. Think we will have to have a look around this area sometime. Cathedral Caves looked spectacular ( and the singing sounded great, ha!) Cheers. Eddie.
Thanks for watching Eddie and appreciating my dulcet tones😂. It's a real nice walk, especially if you are wanting to do a low level one, with plenty of interest along the way. Cheers Alan
Good to see you making the most of the good weather and your retirement Alan(and your good lady, obviously too)......lovely setting at that Tarn(Elterwater)............nice well defined path Alan as well, your lass was 'off like a whippet'' along that stretch mind, still a lovely waterfall despite the lack of rain. Never been to those caves, quite spectacular Alan. I know we were just over there for a fortnight but watching this makes me want to go back, great filming again Alan, enjoyed every step of the way, this is on my to do list(especially for Wendy she would love it), never defy the 'team-leader' mate lol............ATB .......Stu and Wendy...............👌👍😊🎥☀
Thanks very much for watching and this was filmed the day after we met you and man was it hot, we were both boiling. The caves are great and when there has been plenty of rain, so are the waterfalls, shame we missed out on that this time. You will love it when you do it and usually not that many people of the path either, no matter when you go, cheers Alan
Lots of rest and plenty of water - you have got that right! (I'm getting over a bit of dehydration and it wrecks havoc on the system). Every video you upload contains stunning imagery, and this is no different. And of course, the food/drink segments are always welcome :) Those caves are wicked cool - dude - your voice - nice! I could see you rippin' it up in there! Great video Alan - cheers to you and Mrs. Metalman!
Thanks very much for stopping by and amazing acoustics in the cave and no matter who is there, I always break into a song there, much to the embarrassment of Mrs Metalman 😂. It was a real hot day and we were both drained but hitting that country pub in the last mike was a gift from the Gods, cheers Alan
Very enjoyable Alan and just remember your better half is always right. I'm sure on the walk when the sun came out it was warm. Here in Spain we have a heatwave the next two days and its forecast to get up to 45c and none of us are looking forward to that. Cheers mate
OMG I do not know how you stand it, anything over 20C drains me and we were both flagging out in the full sum on this one, thank goodness for the pub on the last mile! Thanks very much for watching Nic and taking the time to comment, real good of you, cheers Alan
Cracking video Alan. Elterwater is a lovely area. Did it all a few years ago but must go back, possibly next month while we’re up there for 10 days. Time to get back in the Lakes, never mind Cornwall.
It's a great walk Mike and a lot of interest on the way around. One thing, if you want the cream tea at the farm, you need to get there early, as they only bake so many scones, fresh, every day and once they are sold, they close for the day - lucky, we go the last two 😋. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Haha, funny enough me too! Long time ago when I was 144 pounds, where todays 228 pounds came from I do not know lol! Real good of you to watch and comment, something I always appreciate, cheer Alan
'Get it switched off and give us 5 mins peace' I take it Mrs M doesn't like being filmed hehe . Another great vid. Never been to those caves ,if i knew they were there ,def would've visited.
Haha, yes, she was getting hot and bothered (boiling hot weather) and sick of having to wait for me yakking into the camera😂 but the cream tea and pub got her smiling again. It's a great area around there Shirley, very scenic and a lot of interest every step of the way. Thank you very much for watching, cheers Alan
Cathedral caves....... "adds to list - as usual with your vids" Thanks Alan, always inspirational. I refrain from singing though, I'd bring the bloody roof down.
Haha, the acoustics in there were brilliant and I just had too - much to the embarrassment of Mrs Metalman, as there were a canny few other people in there lol. It's a real nice area and walk there Lee, thanks for watching cheers Alan
Haha, yes, she was soooo embarrassed, especially as there were so many other people in there too lol. Nice walk mind, one we have done before and will do again. Thanks very much for watching Dee, cheers Alan
Yes it was, too hot for both of us but the pub was a welcome addition to the walk on the last mile, nice and cool indoors as well. Thank you very much for watching and commenting, cheers Alan
Hi Alan that’s a canny walk and I’m like you too much heat and I struggle a bit , loved the caves they were very interesting but what were the old miners digging? Thanks for taking us along Kev
Dates back to the 16 century and they were mainly digging for tin and lead. It's unbelievable when you were consider the tools they were using at the time. It was bought by Beatrix Potter in 1929, who then gave it to the National Trust. Thanks very much for watching, very much appreciated, cheers Alan
Another great low level walk, Alan, and great you can do it together - good distance too. Loved the Caves which we must check out in Sept. I see you had many of your customary stops and food breaks but I would agree that the scones with cream are irresistible, and sure its the local cuisine and must be sampled, regularly. Smashing weather too which topped it all off. Regards, Ashley
Thanks very much for watching and a real favourite walk for us both but man, it was hot, too hot for me, which is why the pub was such a good option on the last mile. If you want a cream tea you have to be there early as they only bake so many scones fresh every day and once they are all sold, they close for the day, luckily, we got the last two 😋. Cheers Alan
Nice weather and lovely walk Alan mate but i think I'd get stuck trying to pass through that gap in the wall 😀 Those caves looked absolutely class, I'll have to take the wife there this year 👌 Great video bud, all the best Chris 👍
Done that walk a few times now Chris and always enjoy it, although, man was it hot, too hot for us to be fair but the caves really cooled us off, real nice inside as well. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
The acoustics in the cave were amazing, so I just had to break into song, much to the embarrassment of Mrs Metalman lol! It was a real hot day out of the caves mind, far too hot for us, as we are not used it it in the North of England. Thanks so much for stopping by, cheers Alan
It's been real nice when I hear that people have watched and then done the same walk for the first time and this one had been real popular. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment, cheers Alan
If you ever return to this place... You missed a mine entrance around the back. If you are facing Cathedral cave entrance, turn left. Walk the short distance until you see a tiny trail leading right, to behind Cathedral cave. Follow it around and there's a mine adit. Safety checks are regularly done. You can get to the cathedral cave "window" that way, without tons of climbing.
Oh nice one, we have not been since before Covid so due a return trip in the warmer weather, so we will give that a try, good of you. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment, very much appreciated, cheers Alan
Haha, you have to be there early for the scones, they only make so many and as soon as they are gone, they shut for the day. Thanks very much for watching Beth, cheers Alan
Thanks very much for watching Tracey and your very kind words, which I appreciate. Not a map as such, I first did it on a group walk about 3 years ago and the last twice I have done it, it was from memory but it is pretty circular and the paths are real defined and easy to follow. I hope you get to do the walk, as I will guarantee you will enjoy it. Cheers Alan
@@AlanMETALMAN Thank you for your reply . I appreciate it. I will try this walk sometime hope i dont get lost . Where was your start point please and park up.? I look forward to watching your next instalment 😊
No sorry I haven't, as it was a group walk led by someone else I just tagged along but from my video you should be able to follow it and it is a real favourite walk of ours so I never plan a map, as we just follow it around in a loop. I hope the video helps you, cheers Alan
Just gorgeous those water falls I could just sit there all day reading a good book and listening to the sounds of nature, but that’s just me😁👋🏼
Me too to be honest, I spend almost as much time sitting and chilling as I do walking and talking lol.
Love the caves! You can catch your breath and cool down.
Lovely walk!👣
Too right, it was a real hot day, too hot for us but the caves were super cool and a great way to get away from the sun for a while. Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
Wonderful sharing my firend🌹👍👍I like it, big thanks🌹👍👍
Big thanks, real nice of you to watch, cheers Alan
We enjoyed the stunning and exquisite views along your walk. The roads are incredibly narrow but wow the views just can't be beat. Thank you for sharing. Have a wonderful day!
Thanks for visiting, real nice of you to watch and leave a great comment. I hate driving down those real narrow roads, so real glad we were walking and not driving. A favourite hike for us, one we always enjoy, cheers Alan
Love it when Mr and Mrs Metalman out for a stroll. You no you in for a great vid and gorgeous scenery. Better than todays wet Plymouth..
Hello my friend great video sending you and the mrs hugs absolutely beautiful share thank you my friend for the share ❤️💜❤️
Thanks for visiting, it was real good of you and very much appreciated. It's a real nice walk, one we both enjoy but man, was it hot, we are not used to the heat in the North of England, cheers Alan
Wow, so beautiful sharing.Take care and God bless🌷👍👍
Thank you! You too! Good of you to stop by, cheers Alan
Another cracking day out with the Boss...what a cracking spot 👍 - quality video as ever - T🙂
Thank you Tony for watching, as always, very much appreciated and apart from the heat (too much for us), a real good walk out, cheers Alan
Wow~ Fantastic scenery !
Enjoyed watching. Thanks for sharing dear friend. Like 88👍🤗
Stay safe and happy day. See you around 💕🙏🍀🥰
Thanks for visiting, very nice of you to watch and comment, appreciate it, cheers Alan
You and Mrs Metalman find all these story book walks. Fantastic my friend.
Great Alan ,me and Mrs E love that walk and the three shires inn.👍
Glad you enjoyed it and it is one of our favourite flat walks in the lakes, need to do it again next year too. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Caves were fantastic Alan - great upload like 122 with fv as always
Thanks for the visit, very much appreciated, cheers Alan
Absolutely beautiful place. How do you know such a beautiful place? Nice weather and awesome place and caves.
Thanks for visiting, so nice of you and I always appreciate it. We have both done the walk before and always enjoyed it, although it was a bit too hot for us this time, we are not used to hot weather in the North of England, cheers Alan
My friend what an amazing place I definitely very jealous Big like my friend
Thanks for visiting John real good of you and man, was it a hot day, not your kind of heat but still too hot for us, cheers Alan
Cheers Alan
What a beautiful place. Awesome pictures. Great job Alan. Thank you for sharing this.
Glad you enjoyed it, real good of you to stop by, appreciate it, cheers Alan
Nom nom🥰👍☕
Especially loved the moody clouds over the mountain tops too, very dramatic.
Take care.
Absolutely gorgeous scenery! The caves were amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed this. Brilliant!
Glad you enjoyed it and so nice of you to stop by. A real favourite of us both but man, was it hot, too hot for us, as we are not used to it but it was great to hit the country pub on the last mile, that was a real life saver. Cheers Alan
Beautiful hike and falls. The reflection on the water on that opening shot was just stunning.
Real good of you to stop by and a real nice hike, which we both enjoyed, cheers Alan
The scenery here is fresh and beautiful
Thank you very much for watching and taking the time to comment, very good of you, cheers Alan
Cracking walk Alan been going to the lakes for over 30 years and never new about them caves it looked amazing 👍👍
Cheers Alan
Excellent video. That cave looks awesome. I will need to visit it one day. Thanks for sharing 👍👍👍
It really is impressive and a perfect way to cool off as well, as the sun was really hot, too hot for us to be honest. A nice area with a lot of interest along the trail, a walk we both enjoy. Thanks you for watching, cheers Alan
@@AlanMETALMAN it looked hot. I liked your comment about it being tropical :) Thats why i dont normally travel anywhere in the summer!
Omg it's truely Heavily there 🙏🏼🥰🥰
Thanks Alan, my friend,
for sharing another wonderful and very inspirational video ❤️❤️
May God bless you and your lovely family 🙏🏼💖
You are very welcome and thank you so much for watching. The mist really did give it a magical feel and a walk I really enjoyed, cheers Alan
Tropical weather up north? Love it Alan!😂👍☀️
Wow, what a stunning walk you did here, and those caves are just incredible!
Woah, amazing place to hike! So beautiful over the lake💜nice singing such a cool cave place to walk through
The acoustics in the cave were amazing and I totally embarrassed Mrs Metalman when I started to sing, with so many other people there 😂. Thank you very much for stopping by, real good of you, cheers Alan
Fantastic acoustics in this cave. You have a great voice. A great trip friend. Big like.
Thank you so much! Mrs Metalman was cringing with embarrassment when I started singing in the caves, as there we so many other people there😂. Thank you so much for stopping by, cheers Alan
I really love this setting! The beauty and nature are incredible there!
Thanks very much for stopping by and a favourite walk for us both, despite the heat, we both had a blast, cheers Alan
What a very cool hike. Such a beautiful area.
Thanks very much for watching James, cheers Alan
stunning views, and those caves wow
Thanks very much for watching, real good of you and much appreciated, cheers Alan
Alan's amazing weather strikes again! I have never visited these caves but always wanted too. Lovely area and well filmed mate - ATB , Chris
Loved the singing part lol
You should do it more often.
Thoroughly enjoyed following you on this one Alan. Thanks for the great video.
That wold be real cool if you could Mike, especially as a hot day for us would be really cooling for you lol. Appreciate you stopping by, cheers Alan
Fab. Off to grasmere in August. This has just made my to do list. Much appreciated
Glad you enjoyed it Martin and real good of you to watch and comment. A blisteringly hot day but a great walk, we both enjoy, cheers Alan
another beautiful place my friend, cathedral caves are amazing creations. already supported your 2 friends you referred in your latest video from US and one came back. thanks for sharing. see you around
Thank you very much! Real nice of you and I appreciate you taking the time to watch too, good of you, cheers Alan
@@AlanMETALMAN it’s been record breaking hot out west this year. I’m the same, I can’t stand the heat, I love fall and winter.
First waterfall is nice even if the second one was just trickling. The cave is very interesting. Good singing!
Cheers Alan
@@AlanMETALMAN That was lucky then ; )
Another lovely picturesque walk Alan, you certainly live in a beautiful bit of the world.
Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
wow great tour 👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you very much for watching and taking the time to comment, real good of you and very much appreciated, cheers Alan
like 55 Alan, enjoyed watching with a full view as always
Thank you very kindly, very much appreciated, cheers Alan
Waow great tour
Thank you very much for stopping by and taking the time to comment, cheers Alan
@@AlanMETALMAN Cheers Alan, yes that day was hot, we just went to Keswick and the woods.........Looking forward to more of your walks....👌👍

Thank you so much 🤗. Real nice of you to watch and take the time to comment, cheers Alan
What a great hike! I loved the caves! It is amazing what was done with simple tools back in the day! 😂😂😂 I used to be called skinny mini! 😂😂😂
Haha, funny enough me too! Long time ago when I was 144 pounds, where todays 228 pounds came from I do not know lol! Real good of you to watch and comment, something I always appreciate, cheer Alan
@@AlanMETALMAN You don not look like 228 pounds! You wear it well my friend!

Very interesting content, how they make the stone wall.thanks for sharing i enjoyed viewing.the cave beautifull.
Thanks for visiting, real good of you to watch and take the time to comment, very much appreciated, cheers Alan
beautiful music
Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a comment, real nice of you and very much appreciated, cheers Alan
I may have proper belly laughed at you singing in the caves, poor Mrs Metalman 😂
Haha, yes, she was soooo embarrassed, especially as there were so many other people in there too lol. Nice walk mind, one we have done before and will do again. Thanks very much for watching Dee, cheers Alan
I enjoyed the walk with you Alan...it sure did look hot...im not keen on tropical weather either...
Cool
Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
1:15 I forgot my shampoo ...... 4:45 Too high for me to dive ...... These caves are incredible .... 11:00 CHEERS !!!!!
The acoustics in the cave were amazing, so I just had to break into song, much to the embarrassment of Mrs Metalman lol! It was a real hot day out of the caves mind, far too hot for us, as we are not used it it in the North of England. Thanks so much for stopping by, cheers Alan
I feel all you adventurers are doing a public service for us, 😎😎😎
It's been real nice when I hear that people have watched and then done the same walk for the first time and this one had been real popular. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment, cheers Alan
awesome video
Thanks for the visit Dave, appreciate it, cheers Alan
@@AlanMETALMAN sure thing 👍
My friend visited the cathedral caves just the other day! Don’t think they got to enjoy those huge scones tho haha!
Haha, you have to be there early for the scones, they only make so many and as soon as they are gone, they shut for the day. Thanks very much for watching Beth, cheers Alan
♥️❤👍👍👍
Thank you very much for watching and taking the time to comment, very much appreciated, cheers Alan
I love watching your walks. I've never done this walk befor is there a map route to follow for this it looks beautiful. 😊❤
Great video buddy have you got the gpx for this one many thanks gary
No sorry I haven't, as it was a group walk led by someone else I just tagged along but from my video you should be able to follow it and it is a real favourite walk of ours so I never plan a map, as we just follow it around in a loop. I hope the video helps you, cheers Alan
