Thank you dear lovely Katharine for your new released video. That is a great idea from you to publish videos about different British accents.I am a person who struggle to understand English movies because of the different accents .I like your new shorts .It is also a great idea.I hope you had more than a productive week. Have a cosy weekend .
Hi Katharine, I m from Switzerland but I m living in Chester and work in North Wales. I ve got colleagues from Liverpool and Birkenhead. People from Birkenhead have got the same accent but there are called plastic Scouse because there are not the true ones haha!
I’m from Liverpool and people from Birkenhead and the Wirral do NOT have the same accent. It’s just that the difference is so minute that only native Merseysiders/Scousers can hear it hahaha. I could pick them out no problem, and I often do.
Hi kate! Ma Belle, my Fridays'moonlight, my ears' delight, my woodlands' fairy, my pansie, my violet, my Rose of England, 🌹😊 Wow, I am truly amazed, Katherine. This is brilliant! I wasn't expecting you to go into this field of accents, but then again, should I be surprised? I know you're a musician, and your musical ear must certainly help you in the reproduction and 'imitation' of these accents. It was basically Sabrah in very first instance, herself of Liverpudlian origin and very talented when it comes to accents, who had - I was going to say familiarized me, but that would probably be too strong a word - at least happily introduced and initiated me to the Scouse accent with a few videos in which she also wonderfully presented the characteristics - both force and phonetic - of this accent which I like very much, apart from the fact that it was, as you recalled it, that of the Fab Four! As far as vocabulary is concerned, I particularly remember some very characteristic words and expressions, of which scran, bevvy and wool/wollyback were indeed part, such as: You're boss / Have (get) a cob on / Go to the offie / chocker / clobber / trabs / a jarg /la'; lad; fella / a bird; judy / geggin' in / a meff / It's baltic / I'm devvoed / the ozzy / you know 'warra' mean ... to name but a few ;-) As a Frenchman, of course, I'm far from familiar with the accent, nor with the countless other ones in the UK, and I think I'd be quickly lost (as is the case with some of the videos I've watched where they speak with a Liverpool accent), as my ear is of course only familiar with, broadly speaking, RP and modern RP that I learnt. But it's always interesting and useful to get even a small idea of them and possibly and hopefully know how to identify them. I adore your version! It seems to me that you reproduce it perfectly, with those very particular, lilting intonations and inflections that I would have been able to identify immediately had I not known that the lesson was on the subject. I also really appreciated the very interesting cultural context and historical reminder, as well as the lightness, freshness and enthusiasm and, above all, the delightful and so charming touches of humor with which you have treated the subject. A big, big Bravo, you're sensational and I can only hope that in the future you'll also cover other English accents such as Cockney, Brummy etc. or why not Scottish, Welsh and Irish accents which I also love, and/but of which I have only a very limited knowledge, that would be so great! Please get all my encouragement! A thousand thanks yous, Merci beaucoup Katherine! 🙏🙏👏👏👏 I wish you the loveliest of weekends, Love 😘🌹❤❤🎸🎹☮💌🕊
Well done for reconnecting the Welsh and Norwegian influence on our accent rather than simply saying Irish. Would like to know if you recognise the origin of the " wool " terminology.
Hi Katharine! When it comes to british accents, then it seems that some of the northern accents are similar to some american accents from the east coast of US
Very interesting explanation. I'm from Barcelona and for me is not easy guess the different British accents. This video is so much special because I'm fan of The Beatles. I'll try to recognize the scouse accent in their first interviews and songs 😉 Thank you very much, you're a great girl! Warm regards 🤗💖

Hi teacher Katherine. Nice to see you again. Great video about Liverpool accent. The British accent generally is so cute. Thanks for sharing this content. Have a great weekend!
Hi there, this accent actually reminds me of a Welsh PE teacher I once met in Madrid and another Welsh guy I once met in London. What reminds me of them is not exactly the sounds and general pronunciation but the speech intonation. Thanks very much for this and all your other videos.
North Wales Welsh. Welsh immigrants to Liverpool spoke Welsh( Cymraeg). They spoke North Wales Welsh. North Wales accents sound quite similar to Scouse accents, not the same, but similar.
Hey there Katharine! What a kind content! My first film in English was Restless Natives and the action taken in Edinburgh Scotland. On 7:58 of your video I hear exactly the same sound like in the movie. So in my point of view those accents ( Liverpool and Scottish) much more closer than RP. Because they are Northumbrians :) Many thanks! Tararabit
I'm from Brazil and I noticed that this accent puts the vowels closer to romance languages and consonant ending a world, closer to germanic languages... ( 🤪 Maybe I'm tottaly wrong, but It sounded like that to me...) 😊👍
Hello Katharine!! 😀 I’ve really loved this video!! 🥰🥰 When you learn a language it’s important to know the different accents to better understand the speakers of that language, so I’m looking forward to seeing the new videos on British English accents!! 💂 By the way, the two most difficult accents of Spanish, at least for me as a native, are that of Cádiz (Andalusia, Spain 🇪🇸💃🏻) and that of Chile 🇨🇱 😁😁😁 Best regards from Spain! 🇪🇸❤️🇬🇧

Hello Katherine, So happy to meet you again. I like your beautiful English accents how Liverpool people speak with Scouse. I like your nice pronunciation tips with Scouse. You are my best teacher Katherine
Thanks a lot for a very valuable video, dear Katharine! Having studied British Accents, one can locate the area where person lives by his accent like professor Higgins used to do.
That is an impressive Scouse accent, Katharine. I love your enthusiasm for the English language and its variations. The accents and dialects of these islands fascinate me. Yours is the best accent, though! Have a lovely weekend 👌🎸🌹
Hi Katharine. Thanks a lot for your sharing. I learn a lot of British English and British culture from your videos. I love this video in particular. I arrived UK few months ago. Excellent video! Quite entertaining and informative. Some weeks ago watched a video from the Liverpool TV station, people in a shopping district were asked for their reactions to Klopp resigning as team manager. I hardly understood anything they said.
It is a very beautiful accent! It reminds me of England learners here in my area of my country, they pronounce English in a way that is very close to "a Liverpudlian accent" of course not all the words mentioned but some of them. I really enjoyed watching and listening to this video and thank you so much for this amazing presentation!

Accents are always interesting. I love them both in English and in my native language as well. Would you by any chance do a video about the Newcastle georgie accent. Being a Scandinavian, it's so interesting because the georgie accent has so many words with Norwegian, Swedish and Danish origin.
My friends were laughed, but I wanted to sing the famous song You'll never walk alone, so I went to Anfield before COVID19. It's interesting that British English has various accents. Japanese language has them as well. thanks for a fun video!
4:18 'check' - this is exactly how a Czech person would call themselves: Čech / Czech.. Exactly the same pronunciation. I was in Cheshire in 2006 for a few days, and learned the Liverpool accent isn't really popular outside Liverpool, for instance, people in Crewe don't seem to like it at all.
Thank you so much Katharine❤❤❤ Liverpool is a wonderful city))) I've been there in ☔ rainy and ☀️ sunny days. It's stunning in spite of the weather. Modern and ancient. Noisy and quiet. Hi Blondie, I speak english but just a little bit but I understood cleary what you´ve said. I loved this video and I will follow you. Saludos desde Mexico
I'm an English-speaking Canadian, but I've long been interested in accents and language, so I enjoyed your explanation of Liverpudlian/Scouse accents. The funny thing is I've been a Beatles fan for close to 60 years, but I've never before tried to dissect the Liverpudlian accent. Britain has such a great diversity of accents and dialects for such a small island. I would love to hear your take on Mancunian or Geordie accents (or Cockney and others). I first learned to understand Mancunian from watching Coronation Street, but in the beginning I had to turn on closed captioning to understand it. I loved hearing Fiona Hill's northern accent during the first Trump impeachment inquiry. I understand she faced persecution for her working class and Geordie accent in the UK, but in America she's only seen as British. There are some regional accents in Canada, especially in the Atlantic provinces, but we don't have the same diversity as the UK or even the U.S. My partner is American, but lives in Canada, and she easily "code switches" between Texan and Canadian whenever she crosses the border.
Hi Katherine, love your accents videos so much , also please do again a video about your recommendation of movies tv and book for winter ❤ Also can you do another video like this where you just read sentences you made and read it in a various accents, I enjoyed this video a lot Thank you for another video

Hi Katharine❤I am an English teacher and your videos REALLY help me improve my accent, can u do me a favour and spot more light onto the illusive “y” that you talked about before, it really helps me catch this difference between my accent and native’s but I still need more explanation… thanks in advance 🙏
