CLOSING PERMANENTLY the LAST Kmart in 2024! Nostalgic…Bridgehampton NY

- Exploring every isle and shopping at the last Kmart on the United States mainland! What a wonderful Kmart it is!
And I drove around 8 hours round trip in NYC traffic to the tip of Long Island for this nostalgic experience, I hope you will come with me as I shop at one of the Last Kmart & *Sears left on the planet!!.
I'm curious how a "discount store" from our past, Kmart, is open and located in one of the RICHEST towns in the country!? So I drove 5 HOURS to see exactly what they have to offer in 2024 and let me tell you, YOU WILL BE SURPRISED!
….Also…if you’re looking for (as I am!) Sears products like Kenmore? Get them here at the Long Island, Bridgehampton Kmart while you still can!
Check out the video to see what I found during my FULL SHOPPING trip at the last Kmart in America!
As of the date of this recording in 2024, the only other open location is in Kendale Lakes Miami, Florida but has lost their lease and downsized to the "garden center!" The only other locations are in the US Virgin Islands and Guam, which I hear that they are doing great!
The last location in the Hamptons on Long Island is almost like a super store! It is FULLY STOCKED! It is pretty expensive. It is extremely clean....but it is VERY EMTPY AND DEAD without customers. How will this location survive? We'll find out and I'll make sure to get back there if any closures are announced!
But for now, sit back and enjoy my last shopping haul at this KMART in America before it closes forever!
Interested in a recent update on this Kmart? It’s in my new vlog here ❤th-cam.com/video/Ujqq-MqYy4U/w-d-xo.htmlsi=piJc-I9gcBJfwcXf
The internet is like a Time Machine. You can usually find any long gone store or restaurant from your childhood that is still in operation but 1,000 miles away.
Exactly we are from NJ, so going there was a bit of a hike lol! But well worth it and very nostalgic!
The one in New Jersey was not using the whole store and before it was closing it didn't have full stock and very little merchandise and it was seen it was going to close and it did in Westwood New Jersey
@@tyeralexander7346 That happened with the last Block Buster Video store. The corporate institution is in shambles so some stores keep using the logo and start to be a poor imitation of the original.
This kmart has been there for 30 yrs n it's always more expensive bc it's the last store before u hit the 40 mins of nothing but mom n pop shops till montauk It's prbly privately owned n if u never been in the Hamptons then u won't understand on labor day ppl are putting 40 inch flat-screen on the curb bc they dont wanna bring it home an as I'm a full time resident I see this every year n it's crazy to me too but year after year I hear stories of my friends carting business just getting some of the craziest finds during that time . Nice content it's cool u went out there but the most ppl I've see. In there is mayb 20
@@burnsblunts that makes sense! I just wonder how long they’re gonna last AND what if this will the THE WORLD’S ONLY Kmart one day lol…..that will be there forever lol - BTW I love it out there I think the vibes are cool and I really do hope this Kmart would last forever! It’s really a gem!
I miss Kmart. When she goes completely, so shall the country.
It’s the last full sized one on the mainland for sure!!!! and it’s so unique! Great job finding all the goodies in there! ❤️ especially the Sears brands!!👏👏👏
Yeah people think the Miami one still counts. I’m not sure they are aware AtHome took over and Kmart is downsized to the garden center. It’s not gonna last. This is the last one - fully stocked- full size and it has all kinds of cool retro brands and Sears products too!
Awesome Kmart video! You should do a follow up video closer to the holiday’s to see how the store looks!
I definitely am going to be going back whether the holiday season or sadly if they decide to close this one. So keep checking back to see what’s next!
I remember going to Kmart in the early '00s. Thanks for making this!
The reason it’s so well stocked and neat is because NO ONE SHOPS THERE.
YES. kmart bought ears along time ago! I found that interesting to.
@@slk2000us thanks! Yeah it was weird seeing the Sears logo and products inside kmart!! Thx for watching!!!
K Mart needs to come back. Seriously! Walmart and Target will step up their game.
You found one of the last two Kmarts still open in the US! (There's 4 others still open as well.... 6 total as of March, 2024.)
Yes I did mention all that ❤️❤️❤️❤️. The Miami location downsized to the garden center and AtHome bought the lease and building. So this is the last full sized location on the mainland ❤️❤️
Wow. Throwback Thursday for me! This was super entertaining thank you! I miss the old stores. It’s like shopping at Walmart Target these days is just not the same feeling. Thank you for the walkthrough!
I agree! Thank you for watching!
Glad to see a Kmart that’s still pretty full!
Definitely. Considering they don’t really have much else out there that’s similar- it should continue to be fine…unless of course they just decide to shut it down for other reasons. Thanks for watching. Much appreciated 👍❤️
@@explore.evermore I wish the Kmart in my town was still around
@@explore.evermoreit slowly doing the same thing as the rest, it looks full but what becuse that's the next to close there slowly close off small areas of the store the stock slowly windows down and then they close
@@explore.evermore When the lease expires. Then Fast Eddie will have it closed down and sell the land.
How heartbreaking. I loved K-MART. Their products were not very good, but they reminded me of ZODY’S DEPARTMENT STORES. I still loved these stores.
The nostalgia of it all was amazing, not many stores like this left! I miss Caldor’s!
Right? I just went to my Kmart in Miami, FL today to shop.
Thanks for this video. I love KMART ❤ Wish more shoppers would've kept it open. Miss the layaway.
I agree. Life was much simpler back then with layaway- now we have to charge our credit cards 😢. I really wonder how long this Kmart will stay open…it was also super fun seeing all the Sears products there as well. I LOVED Sears appliances! They will be missed!
We still have a full sized Sears here in Coral Gables.
Nice! How is it doing? I’m not sure how many actual Sears locations remain in the USA? All of my local ones closed last year!!
Kmart owns Sears. That's why you're seeing Sears products.
They are actually remodeling kmart. I go here all the time, and I got to see this store get a tiny touch-up.
That would be so cool if it stays open and is the last one in the continental U.S., or better yet they open more stores again and try to rebrand!
In my opinion, l think they need to keep this store away from the owner and be held privately like the last blockbuster in Oregon so I can keep shopping here. It's the only store I have closest to me. My mom got her washer and dryer at this store as well as other stuff like the vacuum and toaster.
That would definitely make sense, we love our Kenmore vacuum we got from there. Come to think of it we noticed and forgot to say that we didn’t see a seasonal section for Easter or even an electronics section! No tvs or dvds or video games, seems weird, right?
One of TWO Kmarts remaining in the continental US... and 1 of 6 temaining in the US & territories. Stop with the incorrect clickbate.
Yes, it's because it is more of a subsidiary type of kmart.
WOW! I didn't realize that there were still any Kmarts around. The one that was by me was torn down years ago. Now there's a ShopRite there.
That's a huge and very neat and organized storefront. You did mentioned that it's in a ritzy area so the price points probably reflect such.
It's wild that it's so empty. 😮 Cool there's a lot of US made products.
Thanks for the tour 😉👍🏾
Thanks so much. Yes this is the last full store in the continental u.s. . The one in nj closed last year and Florida moved into their garden center (which is bizarre). This was in the Hamptons so yeah it was very pricey and organized! Thanks for the continued support!!
@explore.evermore You're very welcome my friend 😊. Enjoy your day whenever you read this 😉
I shopped at Kmart every week. Men's dress shirts were $12 and pants were $14, Basic Editions. Just as good as the more expensive stores.
When I hear the term "Blow Out" it makes me think of baby 💩 not a sale lol
Kmart bought Sears in 2005 to become Sears Holdings until 2018 bankruptcy. Transformco bought remaining Sears and Kmarts.
Kenmore is a Sears Brand.
Gotcha! It was super weird seeing Sears signs all through Kmart! Double vision. I even said Sears by accident once and I had to retake that scene in my video. They confused the sh*t out of me !
20:03 their store is so old but they use Windows 11 at the cash registers 😂
@@fab555trainspottingandmore I did see an old register just random hanging around it’s in the beginning of the video lol yeah they probably to upgrade their registers- they are serving the wealthy lol
I heard Sears owns Kmart now. I'm amazed you found Kmart in 2024.
Sears and Kmart merged in 2005.
When Sears bought Kmart that's why Kmart went down. Sears went bankrupt because of Walmart and brought Kmart down with them
@@The_Amazing_DipI worked at Kmart when this happened and Kmart bought sears....not the other way around.
@@amydoel ya, wasn't sure what way it was. Assumed it was Sears since Sears was the larger one.
This store is closing October 20th 2024, only about a month of liquidation 😢
Sears owns Kmart
Yeah it was super weird seeing Sears signs and Kenmore products inside this Kmart. I loved it.
Kmart purchased sears, the combined company owns each other. So this is inaccurate
@@charlietriana9448 no what you are saying is technically inaccurate did you even look up the facts before you commented or you did not
@@Cinephilesteve7909 thanks for clearing this guy up. He keeps making deceiving comments on my channel 🤣. This is the last Kmart on the mainland. Islands are only territories not “United” States and Kmart Miami was bought by AtHome and only has a small garden section. He is uneducated and I don’t need him confusing watchers. So thank you.
@@explore.evermore no, wrong again Kmart owed Sears SMH lol
Following you! Because others didn’t show any prices on things, hardly! Get a gift card, it will show KMart on it! Good job! Thank you! Hi from Wichita! Love Walmart! 👌🕺⭐️⭐️⭐️
That Kmart stays open because there is no other retail for miles around from what I understand. They make their money on the food items: $3-3.50 for a 2 liter soda for example. Things are kind of expensive there because it’s The Hamptons. Kmart & Sears are owned by the same company. Kenmore was a Sears/Kmart exclusive till they sold the line to Lowe’s. Same with Craftsman. They sold that line to Lowe’s & Ace Hardware. There is only one Sears left in the northeast in Braintree, MA. I was just watching a video by Fleabitten Adventures on here recorded June 2024. The rest of their stores are out west & one in Miami.
I actually just made a return trip to there as well on June 20th to see it in action because a local told me they get very busy during the tourism season. So I was curious. I went and it was still dead and empty with one register open although all of the surrounding stores in the plaza were busy. I feel sad about this. It’s a wonderful Kmart with a wonderful staff but it seems to be getting dismissed by the public as a go-to store. Walmart is also expanding into Long Island so that is definitely going to hurt this store as well. There used to be a “Neighborhood Walmart” on Long Island and they have now upgraded to a full sized Walmart.
Wow the last one. And it’s in the most affluent and white area in n.y. Native n.y er.
And expensive, lol, at least it’s consistent with the area!
Actually, we've got a Kmart still open in Miami, FL, and there's 4 others still open in US territories... so yeah, 6 Kmarts still remain as of March, 2024!
Best Yet is not a Kmart Brand. Typically I find it a mom and pop grocery stores.
So it’s a small mom
and pop brand! That’s super cool! ❤️❤️❤️
When I worked at Kmart customers always told me best yet was better than other brands. Their mac and cheese was better than Kraft etc. Some of our grocery stores here still sell best yet.
LA Verne CA, Montclair CA, and Diamond Bar, Ca used to get shoes, summer toys, bathing suits flip pool but this was 1980-1990
Cool! Yeah this one also a whole bunch of summer stuff - it definitely felt like a California style-esque location - I mean I guess it’s similar, it it The Hamptons! Thanks for watching I appreciate it!!!
Kmart was a store I enjoy thoroughly..... now i hate shopping stores. no store will ever replace kmart and jacklyn smith .....
Nice video of the walkthrough. I'm from Richmond, Virginia and traveling up to this Kmart for the first time in the future (if said store location be around) will be more costly than the merchandise prices. What I mean is the numerous NJ/NY toll roads ranging between $9-$20 each way. Seeing it's the Hamptons and the wealthy people (which I'm not against) is known to live in that neck of the woods, the area's Kmart strategy is banking on those people. By looking at Google maps from a few months ago, to my knowledge, I don't believe there's a Walmart within miles so Kmart is running unopposed. How's Kmart on Saturday and Sunday with their shopping crowds up there? Weekends vs weekday crowds may make a difference.
That’s exactly it! I couldn’t have said it better myself. It’s the only reason that Kmart survives is due to its lavish location. And as you saw in the video the prices were ridiculous! The tolls will definitely kill the wallet. There is a Walmart “Neighborhood” (a smaller sized Walmart prototype) market about 40 miles or so away but when I went to check it out, they are also upgrading to a larger standard Walmart. Thank you for watching and I really appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment!❤️
Wow, last one on the mainland. Should be a museum.
It’s looked like a museum with its perfectly full stocked shelves. It was honestly a bizarre Kmart but with the same nostalgic vibes.
You mean one of TWO remaining Kmarts on the US mainland. (We've got a Kmart in Miami, FL that's still open.)
@@-mahermusic The one in Miami was turned into a home-center, so it is something different now.
RIP Kmart 😢
@@Doodlemonkevr RIP Sears as well 😦😌
Did they have Halloween decor there?
Yes, some, it’s almost all Christmas since the store is closing and liquidating, Christmas is 75%off so I’d guess Halloween is similar, the store is closing October 20th of this year
Not the last kmart...
Correct... I wonder why people waste time with clickbate like this...
Yes. The last full size Kmart on the mainland. Kendale Miami downsized to the garden center and AtHome bought the lease and building. I mentioned all that in the video. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hahah maybe if you watched you would have known I mentioned all that!
They still have two in Saint Thomas and one in Guam and saints Croix
@tyeralexander7346 yessir 😁 I mentioned that in my video. This is the only FULL sized Kmart on the mainland. Miami also downsized to the garden center and AtHome took over the lease and building. This Kmart is fully stocked and even carried the bought out Sears products which is super cool IMO! Thanks for watching
Awesome video! Unfortunately Kmart no longer has exclusive brands. And just bc the brand is American does not mean it’s made in America. I would also add that Given the Hamptons is a large vacation spot, makes sense why’d they have so many drinks, coolers, bedding, etc. And considering the area, a cheap Walmart price point isn’t a deal breaker for their shoppers. Theres a reason Walmart hasn’t been approved to open in that area.
It would be awesome to bring one back. But they need to seriously find managers that are involved not just sitting in their office doing nothing. Plus assistant managers that aren’t afraid to pitch in and help when needed. I had electronics and toys. No way could I do both. Especially when management and security didn’t want us to leave electronics. I’ve been in every position except the cash cage. And no grocery stores.
I miss Kmart. All ours in Ohio are all gone.
I know me too. And Sears. I was more of a Sears shopper but Kmart was really cool too!
@@explore.evermore We lost all our Kmarts and Sears because their CEO is evil and greedy. All of us Kmart and Sears fans put the blame on him. A boss who does NOT support his own stores.
This store closes on October 20th.
Fully stocked. Does that mean no one goes there? Usually not a good sign. Usually means people prefer other options.
Yes I meant fully stocked almost as if no one goes there! (I think probably they get the most action in the summer when vacationers arrive!) but yes of course I agree it it a very bad sign!! But it also means they keep ordering the stock, so someone has to be buying it….however someone did make a comment here saying they heard this location may also be downgrading or looking to lease our part of the store, similar to the Miami location! I don’t think it’s looking too good for this “last” full Kmart honestly. I plan on visiting again mid-summer when they have alot of tourists.
So sad this K-mart in New York will be closed soon. It need to be saved.
Eddie Lampert is the reason both Sears and K-Mart are together. He is a hedge fund billionaire born in 1962.
Yup! People miss Sears and Kmart so much- he should maybe try doing something about that?…considering he’s a billionaire
@@explore.evermorehe’s a billionaire they’re not gonna do anything cause people want it. even if it doesn’t cost them anything
@@randomquentin I think I like the way you think! 👍
Not DVD's?
One of the big reasons Kmart was never able to keep up with Walmart and Target was they were never able to renovate their stores and keep them looking fresh with the times. Walmart and Target every 5-10 years shake things up in their stores, relocating some sections and giving their infrastructure a new look. Never at Kmart. The Kmart you walked into in 2015 still looked like the Kmart it was in 1995. The floors were still the same tiles laid down when it first opened with wear marks from the shelves still very visible. Still using the same shelves for the last 20 years. Kmart was never able to afford to liven up their stores for the modern age. The market was quickly leaving them behind.
Similarly, they never updated their product lines etc. The Kmart on Long Island is very upkept and fully stocked but you can definitely tell it’s an old Kmart with old shelves - old ceilings - old brands etc. I don’t have much hope for it but I plan on returning there this summer when the tourism sets in to see how much business they actually get, specifically on a weekend….
Remodeling usually means repainting the walls and shifting the stock around so you can't find anything. I'm interested in the price, quality and service not what the store looks like. 12:44
Kmart and Sears merged years ago. That's why Sears are shutting down too
I think it’s only open until the lease runs out in like 2037 lol
@@TravisM-zv5eh that could be! But until then I’m gonna go visit regularly lol
Elon Musk needs to buy Kmart and bring them back
Omg that’s a good one! 🤣🤣Sears, Kmart, Bradlees, Nobody Beats the Wiz, Coconuts, - he should just bring them all back cause “Why make trillions, when we can make billions?” …. Sorry 🤣 lol a little Dr Evil quote 😈
Blud would turn it into xmart
If he does it will turn into “X Mart” 😅
@@MaxRoc21 bro I just said that
Had they maintained ALL of their stores and made it look THIS nice, they still would’ve stayed in business nationwide… Just sad that the company allowed all of the now-closed Kmarts to deteriorate and be so outdated and obsolete compared to Target and Walmart.
I think you’re 100% on point!
Well, now it is closing. Today, in fact.
Unfortunately All closed in CA
All CA is gone. Kmart got expensive Walmart open in Pomona cheaper prices people started flooding in to Walmart and 2020 i think it was Pomona CA got a target 🎯 store
Sears holdings
That’s right!
sears and kmart are owned by the same company
Hi. Yes thank you for letting me know! At the time I filmed this I actually had no idea so it surprised me seeing all the Sears signs! I miss Sears honestly!!! Thx for watching xoxoxoxo
Unfortunately from what I saw in the video not a good sign no customers alot of price reduction and full of merchandise usually means Store is struggling to keep in business. I Expect to see STORE CLOSING EVERYTHING MUST GO very soon followed by GOING OUT OF BUSINESS and FINALLY STORE CLOSED
You’re probably right. That was my thought too. I was just still happy to see one that was stocked, clean and open…cause I know it’s probably going to be the last time I see it like that…next video will be the “store closing” video!
To survive they need to rethink things what are people buying in 2024
I think Kmart Sears is way past rethinking anything honestly…they are probably just trying to sell off anything they have left. I am not sure at all what Transformco is planning on doing with its stock in these companies …
definitely more expensive than kmart australia
Yeah the Long Island Kmart was very pricey….…From what I remember when I was younger, Kmart here in NJ at least, was always more expensive in certain departments compared to its competitors at the time. I honestly don’t even recall my parents shopping at Kmart very often. I think ultimately that led to their demise- even their blue light specials and clearance events were not really good markdowns?…Anyone remember if they were ever actually a good “discount store?”..
The video says this is the LAST Kmart in the USA, which is deceiving. Miami has a Kmart, there is a store in GUAM, a US territory, there are stores in the US Virgin Islands, also part of the USA. People need to get their facts straight instead of embellishing or exaggeration.
Then you didn’t watch the video - I said all that. And the islands are territories not United States in the United States. And Miami Kmart is now bought out by an ATHome store - it only exists in its tiny garden center. Educate yourself more. Your post is deceiving to my channel. This is the LAST full size open Kmart on the mainland. And I said all that …
Look at how rusty theses carts are. I can tell you never been to a menards 😂
Unfortunately that will not last long as far as beging fully stocked
There aleady lookinh to sell off part of the store like the Mami store 2024 the downsizing year 2025 will be the death
Really?! I am not surprised. I do need to keep on top of this though because then literally there will be be no more Kmarts on the mainland. Did you read this on the news or are you a local from there?
Sesrs bought Kmsrt went bankrupt and took Kmart with them.
Kmart bought Sears....not the other way around.
