I’ve owned dozens of great guitars over the decades. I can only think of two I regret selling. If you miss it down the road; just buy another. You have a bazillion modelers. Sell a couple of those to fund a Nacho. New modelers come out about every 10 minutes. And they’re ALL better and usually cheaper than what you originally bought.
You will regret it…as soon as you get the Nacho you will ask yourself “what was I thinking that lead me to replace a gorgeous 335 with a fancy Tele?” I am a Tele lover by the way.
Good Decision - If one is a Strat and Tele person, then in the long run the Semi's don't really work out, the EQ balance is different and I feel the Semi's always have a mid-hump tone, anyways that was one good guitar, but I think John is better off sticking to solid bodies as they are more road worthy, especially for a gigging musician. I'm still waiting for a Black Les Paul Custom to show up on this channel by the way, I'm sure that day too shall come. 🙂
It's your path, mate. People, things, they come and go. At least you have had good times with it. Best of luck with the Nacho and/or any-everything else. May the right buyer come to you. 💖🕊️🤘🏻
I told my wife, he’s getting sentimental. I fully understand. My 335-clone has a new fret job I did and I’m in love with it. I get lost in my playing with it in my hands.
I regret every guitar, over 70 that I have sold over the years. Life happens, I'm still ok not owning all the cool guitars I've owned. Now I know what really makes me happy and I own that one! Just move on you'll be ok!😀
Go for a Harmony Comet or Ibanez AM2000H. I once had 23 guitars - I now have 3: a Campellone archtop, a Squier Mustang, and the Harmony Comet. It's good to thin the herd.
Absolutely beautiful and melodic solo at the beginning of this video. Had all the right notes for a melancholy and nostalgic feel. The 335 does have a gorgeous tone. Enemy though it’s tough to part with, I’m sure it will go to a nice home.
If the Guitar you'll dreaming about hasn't been playied by yourself for a extended period of time and you haven't bonded with it yet because you judst tried one out. and ordered another same model, don't be surprised if it will disappoint you. Not all Guitars are alike no matter how close the specs are .Buy the one you've tested out. Otherwise you just swapping Tweedle dee for Tweedle dum.😊
I think it's worth doing what you have to do to get the Nacho. So well done. I'm a 335 guy myself and would get rid of something else rather than that, but you know yourself and make a choice for the Les Paul -- fair enough, the Les Paul will definitely fill the soaring humbucker sound that the 335 also gives. A different tone to that sound, but both tones are great.
Had a cherry Gibson 335 2009-2017. It served me well, sold it and never really regretted it. If it's "the one" you'll regret it...but if that's the case you wouldn't be considering selling it. Do what suits you and don't look back.
Numerous times I've regretted selling a nice piece of gear, only to repurchase a piece of gear I wanted. The buyer's/seller's market is volatile, though, and if you need something important, the market will make you pay. Just remind yourself that the things that make you crazy are mostly a function of your own thoughts in conflict with someone else's. If perhaps you've got the cash, buy what you want, but realize it's more important to save for your future, immediate purchases can wait...Wisdom tells me many would like to buy better gear once their tax refunds occur. Why not let the forces that drive the market in its current direction manifest themselves, and then you can choose if the Nachocaster is the bee's knees...
This would have been my first pick of your stash as well. Absolutely gorgeous guitar. Sometimes you have to make hard choices... though I can't say I'd have made the same one.
I said it many times. Keep the 335 and 2 teles. If the Nacho is calling your name, sell everything else except the 335 and your best 2 tele guitars. Live with those for a year and then decide.
I told you last time you talked about the "335" not to sell it as you'll regret it...Tokai 335 are a rare beast and a Gibson of similar quality is going to cost you a stack of cash to replace it once you realise you should've kept it .
I'm currently in the process of doing the same thing... trying to get under 10 as well. First world problems. Still painful though. I should do that with distortion/overdrive pedals too. Haha
I’m at an age where far more consideration has to be given before selling a guitar. Once they’re sold, they’re gone and will not be replaced. My Tokai’s would be the last on my list and an indication of me throwing in the proverbial towel.
I know you fancy the Nacho . I spoke with them and was going to order a guitar , but they couldnt spec the weight , wouldnt make it in Pine and if I wanted a real light one I would have to pay over 1K more.. I can live without it !!
I'm keeping my Tokai 335. After owning 4 stellar Gibson 335s over the years I've settled on the Tokai for many reasons. Bottom line. It's a one off commissioned by a music store in Japan 20 or so years ago so in some respects it's a Tokai custom shop even though as far as I know there's no custom shop for Tokai guitars, one can sense the quality of the guitar immediately. For me it's all about the neck though. I've bonded with it. I think guitars are like anything in life. If you haven't bonded with it, let it go.
I sold my late 70's 335 a few decades ago. I wasn't using it much to gig with so most of the time it was just sitting waiting for me to pick it up. I would use it for a gig now and then, a TV show or two, and took it on the road a few times to tour with which was a hassle and exhausting so i decided to let it go. I still wish i had it every now and then but i feel that if you have a guitar that isn't being loved (played) much it's a waste and someone could make someone happy and they'd give it all the love it deserves. When i think of it being played frequently i know i did the right thing. I should add that I'm more of a player than a collector and have always thought having a bunch of guitars just to have them if you don't play them all is a waste of guitar love.
Only way I ever sell my IBG 355 is if I get a Murphy lab. My 355 is my number 2 only because I love my gold top LP. And the only more versatile guitar imo opinion is the telecaster, which is my number three. Yes block inlays are preferred.
On a long drive today, a favorite David Wilcox tune, "Guitar Shopping," came up in my iPhone road playlist. It's a 1 1/2-min gem, and it made me think of your Nacho situation (esp. with the Nacho being relic'd). The song is on YT, here (ignore the blank space and the short bit of music after the song; that's a segue to a hidden track on the CD): th-cam.com/video/Lp7rq3w7Uy8/w-d-xo.html. Maybe you have to be "of a certain age" to appreciate it. 8-) I'll put the lyrics below. -Tom There's a guitar here in the window I'd like to play before it's sold It's such a classic, mint condition, Great shape for one this old Now all these axes have their stories Of the gigs that they have seen But when this one sold the first time I was seventeen 'Course, back then I didn't want it It was way too new for me I needed something old and righteous With its own authority So the first guitar I ever bought Was twice as old as me 'Cause its life was full of music As I dreamed that mine might be And I played that thing a thousand nights And traded it away For something slightly newer That was easier to play But now lately I buy new guitars They're shiny as a hearse I still like the look of road wear But the roles have been reversed And now this thing is a classic But I still don't need to buy Yeah, the old ones have their stories But by now, So do I
Being that your primarily a single coil player. (A strat is #1, you gig primarily with teles.) Having 2 double humbucker guitars is probably pretty redundant.
Just answering the thumb nail, if you’re selling things to get that Nacho I say yes…. Although I love my 335, and would never sell it 😂, that said, I’m pretty sure that Nacho was made for you John…
If you even consider selling a guitar, it's not the one. As far as I can tell from youtube audio, the nacho was far and away the guitar you connected with and actually sounded different and better in your hands! Sell it all to get it!

Just sold my Tokai 240 CM. Only because I just bought a Gibson es 335 1963 reissue VOS
You will regret it…as soon as you get the Nacho you will ask yourself “what was I thinking that lead me to replace a gorgeous 335 with a fancy Tele?” I am a Tele lover by the way.
Easier to find another 335 than a Nachocaster and every musician has to have a #1 guitar

I traded my 335… man, that was such a dumb decision. I guess if I had several, no big deal. But I really regret it. Sorry if that doesn’t help.
It's your path, mate. People, things, they come and go. At least you have had good times with it. Best of luck with the Nacho and/or any-everything else. May the right buyer come to you. 💖🕊️🤘🏻

Same here. And I love the way it sits next to my body under my arm. It’s shaped perfectly for me.
I regret every guitar, over 70 that I have sold over the years. Life happens, I'm still ok not owning all the cool guitars I've owned. Now I know what really makes me happy and I own that one! Just move on you'll be ok!😀

I have the exact same guitar but with a natural finish, I debated selling mine, but I know I'll never find a 335 as good. They're astounding guitars.

I’ve always loved the look of that 335. Your playing is incredible on every instrument though.

This guitar and it's various tones really suits your style of play, emotionally expressive...I would reconsider....
Lovely bit of music.
I'm currently in the process of doing the same thing... trying to get under 10 as well. First world problems. Still painful though. I should do that with distortion/overdrive pedals too. Haha
I thought it was a mistake but then remembered to have the K Line LP now. And no need for a bigsby can just put on a Les Trem ii no mods needed

BTW …. That’s not “Chris up the road”!
A Duesenberg trem would be a far better option than a Bigsby - if your friend Chris would like a term on it.
BIG mistake bro. Nothing like a 335, it does it all. I would reconsider doing this.
I know you fancy the Nacho . I spoke with them and was going to order a guitar ,
but they couldnt spec the weight , wouldnt make it in Pine and if I wanted a real light one I would have to pay over 1K more.. I can live without it !!
I've been tempted, but I have so many Fender Teles that I adore that I can't justify it.

I only sell things that i know can be replaced easily enough. Be strong!
Good on ya! I'm still trying to thin it down to less the 10 Teles. LOL

You can always borrow my Greco anytime you need a 335 type John
Had 5 Teles, just sold my last one (a ‘71) ! Time and tastes change. Will use the cash to buy a 336 or AS200 to compensate! 😊
I thought you loved that guitar!? Wow I am very surprised you're getting rid of it!
what is it about the nacho that puts it that much above your lovely K-lines?
Only way I ever sell my IBG 355 is if I get a Murphy lab. My 355 is my number 2 only because I love my gold top LP. And the only more versatile guitar imo opinion is the telecaster, which is my number three.

You should have auctioned it

There's a guitar here in the window
I'd like to play before it's sold
It's such a classic, mint condition,
Great shape for one this old
Now all these axes have their stories
Of the gigs that they have seen
But when this one sold the first time
I was seventeen
'Course, back then I didn't want it
It was way too new for me
I needed something old and righteous
With its own authority
So the first guitar I ever bought
Was twice as old as me
'Cause its life was full of music
As I dreamed that mine might be
And I played that thing a thousand nights
And traded it away
For something slightly newer
That was easier to play
But now lately I buy new guitars
They're shiny as a hearse
I still like the look of road wear
But the roles have been reversed
And now this thing is a classic
But I still don't need to buy
Yeah, the old ones have their stories
But by now,
So do I
I don’t think you will regret it. The tele is far more versatile.
Were you thinking of checking in the finish?
Why didn't you top wrap it?
How can I buy your ES335 Lead patch? Which collection is it in? Cheers
Not even watched it - don't do it!!
Being that your primarily a single coil player. (A strat is #1, you gig primarily with teles.) Having 2 double humbucker guitars is probably pretty redundant.

I loved the sound of my ES335, but found it uncomfortable to play. Sold it.
Not that one.
Noooooooooooooooh 😢
If you even consider selling a guitar, it's not the one. As far as I can tell from youtube audio, the nacho was far and away the guitar you connected with and actually sounded different and better in your hands! Sell it all to get it!
NOOOOOOOOOOO
Are you getting your friends Nacho? Would hate to see you sell the farm for a guitar you haven’t played yet. Especially for that kind of money.
Dont sell the 335
Buy an Eastman. It's a better guitar.
I don't think huge is a big enough word
Obviously i cannot give this video a like 😜 but all the best with the search…
You´ll regret it! never sell a special guitar that sounds good, look some other way to finance the expense
NO!! Don't sell it!!
Yep you will.
For once, I pray that your wife says NO to selling the 335 😅
mistake ,)
Don't do it..
I thought it was a Gibson. Nah get rids.
No, you need a good humbucker guitar. You will be sorry
dont do it.
You have plenty of money. Just go buy 5 more. And stop selling amazing instruments.
Ah, more clickbait, brain rot video titles.
God the Internet sucks.
how is it clickbait dulllard? It's a completly accurate description of the video
