I agree that college did not prepare you for weekly plans! There was so much focus on 4 page single lesson plans.😂
🤣😂🤣 so TRUE! When I started planning my first year teaching my plans were long. My mentors were like...What are you doing writing all that? 😳 I found out I may plan a lesson, but may not finish it, so I can continue the next day. Who knew?! They didn't teach or tell me that while I was in college. 🙄🤨😉😊
I feel like everyone is having a hard time finding subs 🙃. It’s even harder for those states that require subs to be licensed to teach. It’s nice that they’re licensed to teach, but oh my goodness we need them subs more now than ever! Your vlogs are so cute!! 💖💖

I am a junior in high school and I’m not planning on becoming a teacher but it’s so interesting listening to you, a elementary school teacher, talk about what it’s like being a teacher, how you plan the week, and how you decorate your class room. It’s really eye opening to see how much work teachers put in for their kids everyday. You are amazing and a really great teacher!😊
When I was in 2nd grade my teacher had a chart that said “are you tattling or telling?” And it stopped us from going up to her and telling on other students for no reason and I would go up to tattle and she would point to the chart and I would go back because I realized I was tattling not telling

I agree college doesn’t prepare you, but I work at a daycare and have to do them, so that prepared me.

I am a substitute teacher in St. Louis county and I could work everyday if I wanted. We had about 7 subs who work regularly and we still have to split classes all the time.
How long do you have during the day for planning and lunch? You seem so productive! I have about 10-15 minutes for lunch after dropping off & helping the students. I have a 45 minute planning each day but 2x a week we have meetings the entire time.
Madison, this video was so helpful! I really related to the comments you made about not really learning the ins and outs of lesson planning in college. You are right. You learn the fun and engaging part of lesson planning but you don't learn the actual nitty gritty part of. You know learn the integration of all subjects, or the Monday through Friday lesson plans. You don't learn where you find your resources and materials. Thank you for pointing it out!
Are you able to do an updated full lesson planning video? One where you show the entire process of the lesson planning from the very beginning with connecting it to a TEK all the way the the ending assessments?

For your tabs, you can create a folder by right clicking on your bookmarks bar and put your daily tabs in the folder. I just named the folder "Daily," and then every morning I right click and "Open all." That way, I can shut down my computer every night and then quickly open everything in the morning.
