I really appreciate your advice in the last few minutes. It is counter to the TF dogma that the chaser (which I was), once s/he draws boundary and walks away, should never ever breach the separation, which the runner is responsible to do. But if we are stuck in a Mexican standoff, such dogma urges me to self love and grow old alone (in the 3d), susceptible to the haunting thought “if only I had tried just one more” or “it might have been”.
