Holy shit I got 95% of the way through this before I realized this was Kaze's channel and not Pannen's. I was thinking "oh boy we're analyzing frame data for possible A-button challenge strats" and was hoping we'd see hitbox data for them all too. Cool video! Some of these must stitch together in interesting ways I wouldn't have considered.

Skeletal animations are great because they're relatively easy to tweak, and they can be extended to support things like wobble-free interpolation, interpolation curves, physics integration, motion capture, animation later, gait blending, etc...
But there's something nostalgic about the character of old-school vertex animations that you just don't easily get anywhere else.

My theory as to why Bowser glitches out at 1:06 is that the devs changed the Bowser model's bone structure, and forgot to rework that animation to not be the mario sunshine tentacle.

Gotta say, the design of this game is really weird:
Klepto is fully 3d and almost looks uncanny to the rest, especially compared to a Bob-omb.
Really weird to see 3d and 2d mixed up this way, especially for round objects, because Hazy Maza Cave has those fully 3d boulders. They could've used these in Bob-omb Battlefield and give it the black texture, right? Anyways, this was interesting
hazy maze cave is special because it can hide most of the level geometry most of the time. that lets them use higher detailed models like those boulders without adding any lag. I imagine they made the bob ombs 2d to safe on polygon counts,... or because they thought it'd look better that way... it is a pretty small model after all so the billboarding effect might not be as apparent

There is an unused Bowser audio clip called "something" in the game files. I think it was probably made for 1:06.
I also noticed many details about Moto from Mario 64. Turns out he is literally the first boss in the game but slimmer and faster and smart and also a great design.
The a.I is focused on Chuckya and the first boss in the game. It’s a combination of the 2 but smarter.
The A.I is very smart, it knows that it shouldn’t touch lava so when its trying to get you and it’s near the edge the Moto enemy will stand still until you come closer also it can walk through fire

This is one of the most important videos on TH-cam.
I noticed something wrong with the small koopas in bobomb battle field. If you leave it chasing you and you break the shell the A.I will go crazy and search for it everywhere. Also I’ve been studying the A.I and I learned only only 4 things in bobomb battle about its weird durability. It turns out the shell is connected to the A.I and the A.I can maybe recognized which shell is the original.

bowser animation 4 is a test animation left over in the game that wasn't meant for bowser's model but was probably just something they used to test if their animation export thing was working right

@Kaze Emanuar i dont remember all of it, it was a while ago, but it's 100 frames long and just static for some reason and it's obviously just got one bone
also, you said something about it having the right number of bones for bowser in the header but i dont think it does?

Mario 64 seems to have that weird thing pokemon had going in the first few seasons of the anime. That being real animals, fish, birds, butterflies, real animals. There are just not enough in universe creatures yet to replace what you would see in a fully developed world. Still somewhat resembling the world around us, instead of it being a whole different universe.

Kaze probably just put all the models in a hacked, empty room and used some sort of program (maybe STROOP?) to display all the animations. He also may have hacked in some unused animations that weren't in the final copy of the game.
