    I would love to see engineers compete to make the most effective pickleball paddle without regard to USAPA regulations. Kind of like the Diadem Vice, but even crazier.

    I do wall training with a 'modified wooden paddle '. I stick table tennis rubber to it. The paddle is 'super heavy ' and great for 'heavy drives' and train forarm strength and how spin works. It doesn't crack balls as rubber is soft at impact.

    Need a video update on this to see how it performed and what the paddle looks like now.

    You should do a follow up video on how much this improves the spin!

    I WONDER IF THERE MIGHT BE A SPRAY-ON, OR, BRUSH-ON LATEX RUBBER COATING THAT COULD BE APPLIED (LATEX RUBBER MOLD MAKING COATING...?

      It plays great with a lot of spin. I would say 15% more grit than a brand new paddle. I've played with the paddle about 8 times and some of the grit has come off. My next attempt will be using the gorilla glue as a base instead of the glue that came with the Lucid grip. Someone mentioned in the comments that it's a superior glue.

      @@theseatownballerHow did the gorillla glue base work out?

    Would you recommend doing this application outside of the house? Like instead of inside?

    • @theseatownballer
      @theseatownballer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, outside would be better for the glue over spray.

    I use a similar method and just won at pictona in an amateur tourney a few weeks ago. They looked at paddle during my 2nd day but only a few seconds longer than my competitors. My heart sank but I won the whole thing.

    HOW ABOUT USING A SPRAY ADHESIVE (3M?), THEN INSTALL A SHEET OF MEDIUM-FINE GARNET SANDPAPER, OR ALUMINUM OXIDE SAND PAPER?... REPEAT/REPLACE IT AS NECESSARY.

    You're a brave man, doing this at the kitchen area. The kitchen will not be a safe place in your house or in the court. She's gonna tell all what you did. Lol!

    Curious as to why this illegal. Recently purchased Selkirk Epic Power Air and it’s texture is gritty as hell.

      Rule says cannot alter the face of the paddle at all. See Rule 2. E. 6 Prohibited Surface Features and Mechanical Features.
      2.E.6.a. Anti-skid paint or any paint textured with
      sand, rubber particles, or any material that
      causes additional spin.
      2.E.6.b. Rubber and synthetic rubber.
      2.E.6.c. Sandpaper characteristics.

      The texture applied by manufacturers are specifically designed to the rules of the game. Any alteration are considered cheating. Just like corking a bat in baseball. Specs are to be held.

      @@theseatownballer any update?

    • @theseatownballer
      @theseatownballer  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@nilkamals I still haven't gotten around to making an update video, however I've played with the paddle a few times and the grit is still good with plenty of spin. I would say that the grit comes off at a much slower rate than the original grit that comes with the paddle. With that said, yo you will need to eventually add more grit but not nearly as soon as before. This is still a much better way than buying a new paddle.

    • @nilkamals
      @nilkamals ปีที่แล้ว

      @@theseatownballer thanks for the reply. My last question: is the spin more, the same or lower than a similar new paddle?

    • @theseatownballer
      @theseatownballer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say slightly more.

    could you use clear poly spray instead of glue? Might not be so thick like the glue you are using?

      You can use clear non slip spray in an aerosol can used for stairs or wooden floors

      I feel you, although I did see information online that mentioned Pickle Ball Pros have the paddle manufactures customize their paddles with grit or carbon fibers unlike the ones that the general public buys. This leads me to believe that these custom paddles measure higher spin rates than the paddles sold to the public.?
