    The lack of shallow depth of field in a lot of the footage really sells the 16mm look. Also the halations were really tastefully done, most people go overboard with those. Nice work man

    I'll be the first to say that these types of videos rarely interest me. I'm a big fan of clear stories and all that. There are lots of videos of just pretty shots put to music. But, that said, this is beautiful and inspiring. It felt more poetic. Like the content was actually capturing life in a more documentary way. I'm sad to hear the film emulation doesn't look as good on the P4K. I wonder about the 6KPro, as that's what I have. I love the way this looks.

      Don't trust what people say on the web. There is no reason at all why this wouldnt look just as good on the P4K. People like trends, but the P4K is a very capable camera if so-called 'organic' images are your thing. I mean it even has RAW so there really is no excuse in not people able to pull of the same look

    Looks great. The halation and film emulation just looks better on this camera. The stuff on Pocket 4k is kinda gross. Best digital sensor. I've been using mine with the original firecrest IRNDs, c-mount lenses, and a light meter. I think if you can avoid touching the menu, the camera is a lot more pleasant to use. I gotta recommend the Tilta Sony L battery mount as well!

      @jackbarron8880 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you think that the Pocket 4K is 'kinda gross' then you clearly don't know what you are doing. I'm not trying to be confrontational, but it's a very capable cinema camera. The lens you use plus filters and post production process will have a significantly bigger impact on the image quality than whatever sensor you are using.

    • @BenEricson
      @BenEricson ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jackbarron8880 Fair. I was mainly talking about the "film emulation." The OG is just softer and gentler on the skin and highlights. It basically looks like 16mm with no processing. Most of the film emulation on the P4K is extremely saturated and artificial looking. OG does the subdued look with skin tones that pop very well.

    • @jackbarron8880
      @jackbarron8880 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BenEricson I see. Well, I feel like you're more than likely responding to resolution changes, and I can understand that...too much resolution is not always a good thing, especially for filmmaking.
      In response to your comment about saturation, it's easier to take away saturation than it is to add, I feel. I mean, I dunno if you're using Pro Res or RAW. If you're doing RAW, then there's no limit to what you can do with the colours, I feel.

    very nice my friend! great image! can you spot significant differences from gx80 at image quality / editing ??
    i mean the image is very similar with gx80, the result are very very close...
    this having to do with the usual editing process that maybe you're follow??
    I mean if gx80 and bmpcc are soo close as a result ,why dont keep or choose gx80 with all ''technological benefits'' that have to offer???
    i dont know, i try to say that bmpcc after many videos that ive seen, i said to myself that, this camera have some serious character here, and its great,
    but after seeing your videos with gx80/85 ,i start to think twice, that is maybe, is more editing skills than character of bmpcc...
    im confused my friend, whats the difference for you here?? maybe i cant see so well,maybe i have some issue with my eyes!!!

      Hi there, thanks very much for the kind words! It’s a good question and I guess it comes down to personal preference. Ultimately I think the GX80 produces a really nice image with good sharpness and decent colour rendition. I do also think however that the 12 bit Color from the BMPCC is very unique and makes it much easier to produce a film like image.

      Thanks Prahlad! I have a basic powergrade which includes a halation node (I used RAKK Productions method). I then adjusted WB & Colors to suit the clip. Grain was overlayed onto the timeline

      Yep, you’ll just need to amend the color profile in the “CST Node” to BMPCC 4K and you’ll be good to go

    Looks good, but I feel like the original blackmagic pocket camera has become a bit overrated recently while people are underrating the P4K. There is absolutely no reason why the P4K isn't capable of the exact same image. None whatsoever.
    People like to bang on about how the original pocket has an 'organic look' but the reality is that they are talking about a DIGITAL camera. If this was real film, then yes, those points would be valid, but I don't see digital noise as organic in the way that I see analogue film grain as organic. It's simply a limitation of a digital sensor. The P4K is a more modern, image with more potential for sharpness, but if you understand filtration, it's very easy to reduce the look of it. You've got low con filters, soft filters and everything. You honestly don't need to get a dated, potentially unreliable camera (the storage solution for these are decreasing dramatically) all because it has reduced resolution and a softer image....

      @oliverkeyscine  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment Jack, an interesting take for sure! I've not really used the P4K much so I couldn't really comment about how it compares, the size alone has always put me off using it regardless of the image it produces.
      The best part about having so many cameras to choose from is that everyone can make up their own mind, The BMPCC OG inspires me at the moment so that's the camera I'll keep using :)

      @@oliverkeyscine Fair comment, Oliver. I meant no disrespect, by the way. If it inspires you, then yeah, who am I to say anything? Also, yeah, if the size is an issue then that's a perfectly valid reason to avoid newer ones for sure. Great work again.
